Chapter 26 - Comminuted

Isaac's vision began to fade as he crawled his way back to the hut. His mind was empty, but at the same time, replaying the fight in his head. He was in a state so full of pain that he could not make a conscious thought, only flashes of the fight seemed to keep playing.

A few meters away from the hut, Isaac's arms gave out, not being able to move anymore. Isaac was finally able to regain some form of thought and began rolling over to the hut. The head of the bear, which was deeply attached to Isaac's leg, slammed into the ground, causing longer cuts to plague his leg.

Isaac rolled into the tree and fell under the weak but soothing magic of the circle. Circles are normally the most powerful, but that's only because they get stronger over time, but for a circle that was just made, they lack the trademark power they were known for.

Small cuts and bruises began to heal over, leaving small scabs and scars to cover his lower body. Isaac reached out to the bear's head and slowly opened its mouth to release his leg, and quickly uttered the spell "*clog*".

As the magic seeped into his wounds, blood slowly stopped flowing out of his leg, but that was far from enough, as the bone in his leg was completely shattered. The only spell that Isaac knew could help was *repair*, but that would not work since Isaac would need to touch the bone shards for the spell to work.

Isaac leaned against the tree and took a few deep breaths before grabbing two sticks and ripping off some cloth from his clothes to make a splint. The splint was not meant to be a long term solution, and was mainly to help support the fractured leg.

Isaac could feel shards of bone stab their way through his leg. The type of fracture is called a comminuted fracture, which mainly means that the bone has broken into three or more pieces, but in Isaac's case, it was well into twenty parts.

This type of fracture is very serious and would normally need surgery, but Isaac did not have the knowledge or the tools to do it. His main hope was that healing magic from both him and the circle could help heal the bone.

As the splint set, Isaac could feel his true world grow a tiny bit bigger, due to learning how to make a splint. Isaac looked over at the dead body of the bear. It sat motionless, as blood poured out of it.

Isaac slowly scooted over to the body before casting *freeze*, which was the same spell Tiy used on the lake while running away from this crescent bear over a month ago. He then dragged the body of the bear into his true world, since it did not contain any way for bacteria to live.

Now that the body was safe inside the true world, Isaac could focus all his mana towards healing his leg, and that was what he did. Every few hours, Isaac would heal his leg slowly, but the effects of the spells that Isaac knew were negligible.

The spell would only focus on smaller shards. This was due to Isaac's skill in healing magic being only useful on smaller wounds, with the biggest thing for him to heal being the arrow that went through his hand, but that only required a few small spells to get it into working order.

After half a day of healing his leg, only the surface of his leg was healed, the bone had not healed at all, and it would most likely take at least a month of constant healing to get it into working order.

Isaac could not afford to waste time, especially since his fight with the wind blessed was around the corner, so Isaac began to focus on learning as many things as possible, so that his true world could grow big enough to where he could move his things anywhere he wanted to.

His first focus was on the bear that sat in his true world. It needed to be skinned and separated into chunks that could be eaten. Isaac's only knowledge of skinning was based on survival games, which was a good place to start.

Isaac knew that skinning the bear would be hard, mainly because he wanted the hide for later use, so he prioritized separating the skin from the meat, while making sure the hide was not damaged, even if it meant that some meat was lost in the process.

Meanwhile, this was happening. Isaac would use his mana to fuel the circle so that I could heal him faster. He could have tried to learn some new spells, but he thought that his leg was more important than his true world at the current moment.

Once the bear was roughly separated into hide and carcass, small chunks of meat stuck to the hide, but that could always be trimmed later, but Isaac was focused on cleaning out the bear of blood and organs.

By the time the sun set, Isaac had gotten most of the organs out of the bear and had returned it to his true world for now. He started a fire so that he could move onto hide, mainly so that he could use it as a blanket, but later turn it into a coat.

A few things were going to be a problem, with the main one being tanning the hide. Tanning is a process used for preventing rotting in the hide, and his only solution to this would be to ask Tiy about it, but due to his leg, he would not be able to until she next came by, which would most likely be when the mana berries regrew.

Which would take at least a few weeks to a month, unless someone made them grow faster.
