Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Phase Shift

The moment the core cracked, the entire chamber shook violently, as if the dungeon itself was rejecting what had just happened. The Iron Warden's body collapsed inward, its massive frame breaking apart into fragments of iron that scattered across the ground. For a brief second, it looked like it was over.

It wasn't.

The glow from within the broken core didn't fade. Instead, it intensified, pulsing rapidly as if something inside was forcing its way out. The air grew heavier, thicker, pressing down on both of them as the fragments of the Warden began to rise again.

"…It's not dead," Sera said, her voice tightening.

Suho didn't answer.

He was already watching it rebuild.

---

The shattered armor didn't return to its original form.

It changed.

The new structure was leaner, faster, the heavy plating replaced by sharper, interlocking layers that allowed for greater movement. The core, once hidden, now floated slightly outside its chest, surrounded by rotating fragments that acted as both shield and weapon.

Its head lifted slowly.

Then—

It vanished.

---

Sera's eyes widened.

"Suho—!"

Too late.

---

The Warden reappeared in front of him, its speed far beyond anything it had shown before. Its arm cut through the air, aiming directly for his chest with lethal precision.

Suho moved.

Barely.

---

[Hunter: Suho]

[Title: None]

[Primary Trait: Hidden]

[Active Skill: Modifier (A-Rank)]

---

The attack shifted—

Just enough.

But this time, the force still connected partially, sending him sliding back across the ground. The impact wasn't clean, but it was enough to prove one thing.

"…It's resisting more," he thought.

---

Sera didn't hesitate. She repositioned instantly, drawing multiple arrows at once and releasing them in rapid succession. Each shot targeted the floating fragments around the core, aiming to break its defense.

---

[Hunter: Kang Sera]

[Lv: 41 (D-Rank)]

[Title: Precision Archer]

[Primary Skill: Piercing Volley (B-Rank)]

---

Her arrows struck with precision, forcing the fragments to shift defensively. But instead of breaking, they rotated faster, adapting to her attack pattern in real time.

"…It's learning everything," she said.

---

From the shadows—

Jisoo watched.

---

[Hunter: Han Jisoo]

[Lv: 72 (B-Rank)]

[Title: Guild Observer]

[Skill: Insight Field (Active)]

[Status: Concealed | Monitoring Target]

---

His eyes tracked the distortion rising again, stronger than before.

"…Now show me," he whispered.

---

Back in the fight, the Warden attacked again.

Faster.

Sharper.

More precise.

---

Suho stepped forward.

This time—

He didn't hold back as much.

---

[Skill Activation: Modifier — Output Increased (High)]

---

The system flickered violently.

The dungeon trembled.

---

For a brief moment—

Control shifted completely.

---

The floating fragments slowed.

The core—

Stopped.

---

Sera saw it instantly.

"Now!"

---

She fired everything she had.

A full volley.

All aimed at the exposed core.

---

The impact landed.

Direct.

---

Cracks spread rapidly across the core, the glow inside destabilizing as the entire structure began to break apart again.

---

But—

It didn't collapse.

---

Instead—

It reacted.

---

The distortion surged.

Stronger than before.

Uncontrolled.

---

The system glitched.

---

[Warning: System Conflict Detected]

[Foreign Authority Interference]

---

Suho's eyes narrowed sharply.

"…So it's here."

---

The Warden's form twisted violently, no longer stable, no longer following its original structure. The core pulsed erratically, releasing waves of energy that pushed both of them back.

This wasn't just a boss anymore.

---

It was being overwritten.

---

Sera struggled to maintain her footing, her expression shifting for the first time into something closer to concern.

"…Suho, what is happening?"

---

He didn't answer.

Because now—

Even he couldn't fully control it.

---

From the shadows, Jisoo stepped forward slightly, his gaze fixed on the phenomenon unfolding before him.

"…This isn't normal dungeon behavior," he said quietly.

---

The Warden let out a distorted roar as its form expanded again, the energy around it becoming unstable, dangerous, unpredictable.

[Rank: ???]

[Type: Unknown]

[Status: Overwritten]

---

Everything froze for a moment.

Not physically—

But within the system itself.

---

Because something else—

Had taken control.

---

And this time—

It wasn't part of the dungeon.
