Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Collision of Worlds

The next morning, Sana couldn't focus in her lectures. Her mind kept replaying yesterday's shift — Arjun's smirk, his strong hands catching her, and the sudden urgency when the laptop thief appeared. She kept doodling his name in her notebook, only to scold herself afterward.

Her part-time job at the café was supposed to be routine. Coffee, orders, smiles, repeat. But since meeting Arjun, routine had become… unpredictable.

By mid-afternoon, Sana found herself back at the café for her second shift. She adjusted her apron and peeked around the counter, half-expecting to see the playful smirk again. And there he was, leaning against the wall, scrolling through his phone, completely unaware of how much chaos he'd already caused in her mind.

"Morning, Sana," he said without looking up. His voice had that easy charm that made her pulse quicken.

"Morning," she replied, trying to sound casual. Her hands trembled slightly as she prepared the espresso machine.

Arjun finally looked up, eyes scanning her like he was measuring how much she'd improved in just one day. "Better than yesterday. Still almost broke a tray though."

Sana rolled her eyes but smiled. "Progress, at least."

The afternoon rush hit, and orders flew in faster than she could process. Sana moved quickly, carefully, but somehow managed to bump into Arjun while carrying a tray of lattes. The tray tilted, and for a split second, all the drinks threatened to spill.

Without thinking, Arjun caught the tray with one hand while steadying her with the other. Their faces were close — impossibly close.

"You really do attract trouble," he murmured, his breath brushing her cheek.

Sana swallowed hard, not knowing whether to laugh or run. "I… I'm careful," she whispered.

"Careful doesn't seem to be your style," he teased, eyes glinting with mischief. And then, before she could respond, the café door slammed open again.

This time, it wasn't a student. Two masked figures dashed in, waving what looked like stolen electronics. Panic erupted in the café.

"Stay behind the counter!" Arjun commanded, his playful tone gone. He moved with a speed and precision Sana had never seen before, intercepting one of the intruders. A struggle ensued. Sana froze, heart racing, caught between fear and fascination.

In a flash, Arjun disarmed the first intruder, sending the stolen devices clattering across the floor. The second masked figure sprinted toward the door, but Arjun was already there, tackling him effortlessly. The café was silent except for the shallow gasps of shocked students and Sana's own rapid heartbeat.

When it was over, Arjun stood up, brushing dust from his jacket. His dark eyes scanned the room, then softened as they met Sana's.

"Are you okay?" he asked quietly, his usual smirk replaced by genuine concern.

"I… I think so," she whispered, still trembling.

He stepped closer, almost brushing against her again, and Sana felt her knees weaken. "You're lucky you're fast on your feet… and lucky I like a little chaos," he said, his voice teasing again, though softer now.

Sana wanted to respond, to tell him how her heart had jumped, but words failed her. She only nodded, caught in the storm of adrenaline and something more… something magnetic she couldn't name.

As she handed him a towel to wipe the spilled drinks, their hands touched briefly. A jolt ran through her — accidental, yes, but loaded with unspoken tension.

Just as Sana thought the world had returned to normal, her phone buzzed. She glanced down — a text from an unknown number:

"You saw too much yesterday. Stay out of it, or next time, it won't just be chaos."

Sana's blood ran cold. She looked up at Arjun, but he was busy helping a shaken student. Her heart raced not just from Arjun, but from the sudden, dangerous warning.

Cliffhanger: Who sent the threatening text? And how much danger is Arjun really involved in?
