The moment their gazes met, Yara Keats couldn't tell if it was just her imagination, but she sensed an indescribable, complex emotion flash through the man's eyes. When she looked closer, however, it seemed as if nothing had been there at all.
Though deep, his eyes were utterly placid and expressionless.
'Then again, what was there to feel between strangers?'
Yara Keats glanced at the phone the man was holding out to the cashier, then picked up the foreign currency she was holding. "Do you mind?"
The man answered, "I don't mind."
While the cashier bagged her items, Yara Keats checked the bill, then roughly counted out some foreign currency and handed it to the man.
The man took the cash, gave it a single glance, and handed two bills back to her. "This is too much."
Yara Keats glanced down but made no move to take the money. "Thank you," she said. "You should keep it."
So, the man said nothing more.
