For ages, myths have told of the endless battle between good and evil, each side backed by strange creatures and fearsome beasts. What most people don't realise is that these stories are indeed true.
Long ago, in a time now forgotten, demons attacked humanity. No one knows where they came from or why they chose to strike. What mattered was their savage, superhuman strength. Even if everyone joined forces, we could only defeat one or two demons at best. Their power was terrifying, and even worse, there were more than 100,000 of them.
We really couldn't kill a demon, let alone that many.
The only way to survive was running from them, and even some people would rather die than be controlled by those demons.
A lot died when the demons attacked, and more than half of humanity was gone in just a few hours. We were about to become extinct when a team showed up out of nowhere.
This team managed to beat the demons after a long battle that lasted five years.
They struggled for five years until they finally stopped the invasion, but more than half of them died.
That battle was named: "Battle of Avalon".
Life after that battle went back to normal. The team was named after that: "The Legendary Team", and an old man named Cyrus led them. Some people said he had the power of seven beasts, and his power was even stronger than all of them combined. He was "The" demon.
After the "Battle of Avalon," the old man disappeared, and the team was left behind.
The team taught people how to use magic to fight demons. Then they also disappeared.
Some of them started schools to teach magic. Others made groups to hunt beasts.
These are the five clans that were formed:
- The Fire clan
- The Earth clan
- The Wind clan
- The Water clan
- The Lightning clan
These clans spread out. Made their own areas. Three big schools were made to teach magic:
- The Ice School
- The Storm School
- The Cloud School
These schools are still the best, even though many other schools were made later.
Now it's the year 1900. It's been over 3,000 years since the demons attacked.
There hasn't been another demon attack. Magic is common now.
Beasts are grouped by how strong they are. Some have been tamed.
Humans did well after the attack. Magic is taught in schools.
Our school isn't the best, but it's not that bad. There are clans, and ours is a small one.
And that ends today's lesson.
"Professor, I have a question", a student from the class said.
"Go ahead. This will be the last question, and we'll end today's class", the professor replied, handing out papers.
"How many people were in the team that saved humanity?" the student asked.
"Legend says twenty people, but no one really knows ", the professor said.
The students were amazed.
The professor kept going, "Now I've given you papers on the basics of elements. Review them in three days. Don't miss class tomorrow, it will help you decide your field."
A student asked a girl next to him, "What element do you hope your power will be, Makira?"
"Fire, because it seems powerful", she replied with a glow in her eyes.
The boy added while stepping on the table and raising his hand in the air, "I prefer wind. I'll become strong to be worthy of you."
The professor asked the students to be quiet. And questioned quietly, "Where is Kikimura?"
One student laughed while twisting his head, "He's probably still training."
"Learn from him. He's weaker than you. He works harder", the professor got angry.
In the meantime, Kikimura was outside running away from a beast.
"Aaaahhh, help! Why can't I use any power?" Kikimura screamed.
He collided with Makira and fell.
Makira said, "What are you doing, you idiot?"
Kikimura said while hugging her knee, "Makira, thank God you're here, help me! This beast has been chasing me."
Makira said, "So that's why you weren't in class? Training, they said!"
