Nina stood in the middle of her tiny bedroom, her arms crossed over her chest, staring at the tall, devastatingly handsome man currently occupying most of her floor space. Her gaze darted from his dark, half-wet hair down to her modest, faded area rug, then around at the cramped walls of her apartment, as if the sheer contrast between him and her surroundings might somehow convince him to leave.
Everything about him seemed oversized here… his presence, his confidence, even the easy way he breathed the air of a space clearly not built for someone like him.
"Aren't you going back to your mansion?!" she demanded, throwing her hands up in utter bewilderment. "Like... the massive estate with twenty bedrooms, a swimming pool, and a staff that actually cooks food that doesn't come out of a microwave?"
