Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Day Love Broke

The rain refused to stop.

It poured endlessly over the city, blurring the world outside the courthouse into a gray, lifeless haze.

Ananya Roy stood still at the entrance, her fingers trembling as they clutched the divorce papers. The ink on them felt heavier than anything she had ever held.

Across from her stood Aarav Mehta.

Her husband.

Or… not anymore.

"Sign it."

His voice was calm. Too calm.

As if their three years of marriage meant nothing.

But his eyes—cold, distant—never met hers.

Ananya swallowed the lump in her throat. Her lips parted, as if she wanted to say something.

Ask me to stay… just once…

But Aarav said nothing.

Not a word.

Her vision blurred as tears filled her eyes. She quickly lowered her gaze, refusing to let him see her break.

With shaking hands, she signed her name.

Ananya Roy.

The ink hadn't even dried when something inside her shattered completely.

Aarav took the papers without looking at her.

"From today," he said, his tone sharp, "we have nothing to do with each other."

Each word felt like a knife.

Ananya nodded slowly.

"Yes… nothing."

Silence stretched between them.

Heavy. Painful. Final.

As she turned to leave, Aarav's voice stopped her.

"And don't ever come back into my life again."

Her steps froze.

For a moment, she almost turned back.

Almost asked him why.

Almost told him the truth.

But she didn't.

Because love, once broken like this…

Didn't deserve another chance.

"I won't," she whispered.

And she walked away.

Without knowing—

Aarav's hand tightened into a fist the moment she left.

His chest felt like it was being crushed.

Why didn't you explain… Ananya?

But it was too late.
