Perhaps Zahid already knew.
Though I was trying my best to deny it, I had slowly, but surely, been falling for him.
Alas, my feelings for him would end up trampled on the ground because there was no way for them to be reciprocated.
Knowing that this can only end in a disaster, I did all that I could to tip the scales in my heart the other way.
I responded breezily as if nothing in me had changed.
“Think as you wish.”
I hurriedly took off, and Zahid treaded behind me in satisfaction.
Cheryl and Ethan were already at the stables, eagerly feeding the ponies.
I looked at them with all the love in my heart.
Cheryl was petting a white one with black spots, and Ethan was hugging a brown pony with a white speck on its forehead.
They both seemed to be in love with their ponies.
While the twins were busy learning how to ride horses from Dymon and the stable boy, Zahid and I exchanged a short conversation.
“Have you been on one before?”
“I don’t know how to ride them.”
