I couldn’t give him an answer. I always knew this day would come and now the whole truth had been revealed, I could no longer keep the lie up… This was the moment when I would have no choice but to be honest with him, no matter how much I didn’t want to be.
Zahid didn’t wait for my answer because he didn’t really have to. He was able to deduce everything without needing a single word from me.
“You were using me right from the very start. You were going to hide until he manifested as a wizard, then you were going to run away…”
He stopped talking for a second and stared at Ethan. I checked on Cheryl and Ethan too, noticing that they had both lost consciousness at some point, which was a relief as it was only a matter of time until they would have to experience an entire day of awful harassment.
After looking at Ethan’s pained expression, I turned my focus back to Zahid.
“Is that why this happened?”
