[Julius's POV]
'KP?'
[Back to 60,000.]
'Cool.'
The 10,000 I spent for a million dollars was rightfully back in my grasp. Gwen could build her basic layout first, and I would get access without even lifting a finger. Building my own base was a definite for later, but sharing for now was good.
Lying in bed, I continued staring up at the few panels I had open. One with the shop, another with my current list of templates I've bought so far, and the other just a log of where I got my points from.
My Satoru template and Sukuna template did me pretty well. All mini-threats, those without powers, couldn't cause me problems even if I didn't try. Minor threats would make me sweat a bit, depending on what I was up against. Medium-level threats, as I deemed them, were those with powers who actually knew how to fight. High-level threats I couldn't touch right now without blasting Purple or World Cutting Slash; maybe Domain Expansion, but I doubted it would work.
Don't even get me started on what I like to call "World-level" threats.
I looked at my hands, feeling the flow of my energy, and then thought about someone like Thanos. Even without the stones, the guy was a walking disaster, especially from what I've heard from the comics. My Six Eyes would probably see him as a dense purple sun, a fucking sheer beast of a unit that "dismantle" would need a million times the energy to adjust to his level.
Then there was Ultron. From what I remembered, he was just fucking scary. An A.I. like that wasn't anything I would want to fight. If I could fight it, then it'd just be a death wish. In the comics, I've heard there was a version with the infinity stones. Yeah, bud, I couldn't handle all that.
Crap, then there were names I'd only heard of, names like Galactus or The Living Tribunal, and given what I've heard, goodbye life, hello death! The fact that I'd heard of them and hadn't even read the comics meant they were the real deal.
Needless to say, there was no way in hell I could compete right now. I'm pretty sure I couldn't even get a good strike in on their testicles.
'I need something that will help me train...'
[How about an Omni-Recovery skill?]
'How much does it cost?'
[The weakest is 50,000. It boosts all recovery by 10% passively.]
'What's the next level?'
[500,000 for 15%.]
'And-'
[5,000,000 for 20%.]
'Thanks.'
Having a system like this, I could never get over it. It was like having an actually perfect A.I.
I paused on the glaze, though. The cost of the recovery skills wasn't all that bad, given their versatility. There were probably better specialized skills, but I couldn't guarantee I could afford to buy them separately.
'I'll take it.'
I had to pause on buying something that cost 100,000 KP, but it would be worth it in the long run. The KP disappeared, and a euphoric reaction happened within my very being, much better than that shit earlier that made me black out. My muscles, my soul, my mind, everything about me felt refreshed. The relief merged with my energy, changing it and adding its recovery properties to my repertoire.
The euphoric state vanished as quickly as it came. I could feel the difference in my body's reactions. The difference was great, which only made me wonder what the higher levels would feel like.
With this new ability, practice could take the next step. I could push myself harder and achieve better results in less time.
'System, what would I need for the Spider-Family's healing factor?'
[Way too many. Upper tens of billions.]
Welp.
One day, maybe.
I shot up from the bed, grabbing my phone and making a call. Really, I had no right to call this woman, but she was the only one I knew who could bother Reed and not piss him off.
"Julius?"
"Hello, Ms. Storm."
"Hehe~ no need to be so stiff. Just call me Ms. Sue, unless you're trying to make me feel like a senior citizen." Her giggle was soft. I felt any hesitation about making my request vanish.
"Okay, Ms. Sue. I was calling to see if I could make a small request?"
"You want to spar against Reed again, don't you?" The words came out smoothly, making me second-guess whether I was easy to read. If I was that was something else I needed to work on so I didn't get killed later.
"H-How'd you know?"
"I watched your fight against him, remember? You looked so excited to put your abilities to the test; I figured you'd want to go further so you could practice. That look in your eyes was far too bright for you to stay away for long."
"Are you sure you aren't the smartest woman alive?"
"Bahahahaha~ No, no. I know plenty of women smarter than me, young man, but reading a kid isn't that hard."
"Do you think it's possible?"
"I'll see, but knowing him, he'll probably build something instead of sparring with you directly again."
"That's fine. I want something to help me grow. I've got to protect Kat the best I can, after all."
"Aw~," she cooed, her voice dropping into a teasingly sweet tone that made my face heat up instantly. "I wonder how she would react to hearing that! So protective and bold."
"I-I think I would be a bit embarrassed if she were listening in on my conversation."
"She's on patrol, isn't she?"
"..."
Reminder!
The big leagues contained scary people.
"I got you with that one, didn't I? Before you ask, I just wanted to make sure you two didn't do anything stupid like Johnny would do."
"Fair enough..."
Damn Johnny. Next time I saw him, he was catching a Red to his damn face.
"Okay, I'm going to hang up now. Anything else?"
"No, ma'am. I appreciate your help."
"Of course," she replied, her voice lingering for a second with a warmth that felt genuinely supportive. "Stay safe out there, you two."
The call disconnected, and I couldn't help but shiver.
'Security measures are really necessary!'
I wasn't the smartest, but I needed to learn how to build my own measures. Being passive like I was originally going to be wasn't going to cut it. If that had been a villain, then everyone connected to us would have been sitting ducks.
'System.'
[You can buy the lowest-level version, but I would recommend getting to work. At 250,000, you'll thank me.]
I nodded and made 250,000 my immediate goal.
