Cherreads

Chapter 22 - Entrance exams P.3

As soon as I passed through the gate, the entire training city opened up before me. Dozens of streets, tall buildings, intersections, and robots of various sizes running around in between. The screams of the other candidates echoed from all sides.

Explosions. Quirk sounds. Metal hitting metal… the practical part had just begun. And most of the students immediately scattered to hunt for points.

I stopped on the roof of the nearest building and started looking around the entire area.

"Left." Agrona pointed out to me.

I didn't even turn around, I just reached out and a shadow dagger formed in the air. A second later it flew across the street. The metal body of one of the robots split into two.

"Here we go."

I jumped off the roof and the asphalt exploded under my feet. Red lightning streaked across my body. The ether core immediately flooded my muscles with energy. In an instant, I covered dozens of meters.

The first robot didn't even have time to turn. Kasak's fang went through its head. I crushed the second with a kick. The third was hit by a shadow dagger. I simply blasted the fourth with an energy cartridge, its metal debris flying through the air.

The points were coming in one after another.

Still, I didn't try to go all out. Not yet. I didn't need to, most of the robots were ridiculously slow.

Then I heard a scream a few blocks away. A girl was cornered by a pair of larger robots. Her Quirk was clearly not designed for direct combat.

I sighed.

"Save points." Agron noted.

"I know." I disappeared, a red flash shot across the street, and a second later both robots exploded. The girl just stared at me in surprise.

"Are you okay?"

She nodded, confused.

"Then run." And before she could say anything, I was gone. The next ten minutes passed in a similar fashion, robot after robot, points steadily increasing. But the longer I fought, the more I began to realize one thing.

I'm bored.

"That didn't take long." Agron noted.

"This was supposed to be hard."

"For normal people, it probably is."

I had just finished taking out another three-point robot when a group of about six machines appeared in front of me at once. A normal contender would have stopped and perhaps backed off.

I just smiled. "Okay."

I reached out. The shadow beneath my feet rippled.

And immediately it began to spread, darkness covering the entire street. The air became heavy and several of the surrounding students immediately stopped. And a huge figure stepped out of the shadows. black armor, massive horns, red eyes. Agron. At full size, when I think about it, he looks a bit like my father haha

Several students literally froze.

"What the hell is that?!"

"Summoning Quirk?!"

"That's not possible!"

Agrona didn't even bother to answer, he simply stepped forward and with a single swing of his arm, scattered all the robots in the street, metal debris raining down on the surroundings.

There was silence.

"You're exaggerating a bit," I remarked.

"I'm not exaggerating." Agrona replied.

"I'm just demonstrating efficiency."

POV U.A. Japan

The monitoring room was completely silent. Dozens of screens were showing footage from the European test. On one of them, a white-haired boy was standing in the middle of a destroyed street.

Beside him stood a being who looked remarkably like the boy himself. No one spoke. Present Mic was the first to speak. "...what the hell was that?"

"Good question," Nezu replied, his eyes fixed on the screen.

Aizawa stood next to him. "That's not normal..."

"It's not."

"And the energy pressure?"

"It's not normal either."

Meanwhile, Nezu opened the candidate's file. And after a few seconds, his expression changed. "That's interesting."

"What?" Aizawa asked.

"According to the documentation, he has a Quirk focused on manipulating energy and using it within his body."

"So where did that thing come from?"

"I don't know." Another silence fell over the room.

"Look at the Quirk awakening date."

Aizawa took the folder.

After a few seconds of reading, his eyebrows twitched slightly.

Which was probably the biggest surprise he was capable of.

"That's not possible."

"Exactly my words."

According to official records, Mephisto only awakened his Quirk a few years ago, which in itself wasn't impossible. Some people awakened it later. But...

The level of control he was demonstrating was absurd. Many of the students had been training since they were four. For decades. And yet they couldn't control their abilities half as well. Such a development of abilities was simply unnatural...

"His talent must be absolutely absurd..." Aizawa said.

Present Mic, meanwhile, watched another shot. Just as the white-haired boy crushed another robot without a moment's hesitation. "I don't know, but that boy doesn't look nervous at all."

"Because it isn't." Nezu said.

"Look at his movements."

The recording started again on the monitor, slowed down this time, every step, movement, reaction, it was unnaturally efficient. This was the way someone who had already experienced real combat moved.

Aizawa noticed this too. "These aren't habits acquired during training."

Nezu nodded. "Exactly."

This time he was smiling a lot more than before. And that usually didn't bode well. "I think we just found the most interesting candidate of the year." At the same moment, red flashes appeared again on the monitor around Mephisto's body.
