Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 : Memories

What's the point of surviving just to die again?.

I had finished falling a long time ago. It was amazing the fact I could tell.

There is darkness of the night like back on Earth.

And then there was this darkness.

Like staring into the void of space.

I stood in one place trying not to be reckless.

For all I know, I could have been sent here to die.

But how.

Thinking of the reason made my heart beat even harder.

I'm sure they know that the fall won't kill me.

Which leaves one more option.

There was something down here.

And either it hasn't noticed me, or it was just biding its time.

I coiled up in a ball and laid weakly on the floor.

The silence felt wrong.

Too quiet.

How the hell did I get here.

What was I missing.

I closed my eyes forcing myself to remember.

What had happened to my mother.

Was she captured by them too.

As I laid there digging through my memories.

I saw it.

Flashes of beasts first.

Then people with nose bleeds.

Followed by screams.

They were all fragmented, not leading anywhere.

I still couldn't find my mom.

I tried looking deeper.

But nothing.

Just blood.

An arm.

Nothing was making sense.

And I was starting to get pissed off.

Then a sound.

An object clattering behind me.

I turned.

And the darkness was no more.

I was now back at home.

Back in my house.

In the bathroom.

It gave off an eerie feeling.

"Are you ok with this."

A voice sounded from behind me.

It sounded a lot like me.

I turned.

But there was nothing.

Just my reflection in the bathroom mirror.

Then I saw it.

It smiled.

Its eyes were the opposite of mine, black pupils, white iris.

Its hair was black.

Its body white.

"Ok with what."

I sounded confused.

It stared at me for a while.

Then smiled.

"You don't remember."

Remember what.

I retorted.

It walked away.

My own reflection left the view of the mirror.

My chest tightened.

Then behind me I felt a breath on my neck.

"Everything."

My nose started bleeding.

"What did you do."

I looked at it with fear.

"What the hell are you doing."

"I'm trying to help you remember."

It said again, cackling.

Its back teeth and white tongue looked uncanny.

It hurts.

I said, falling to my knees.

It bent down with me, its hand on my back.

"I would never hurt you."

"I am you."

Suddenly the fragmented memories of before started piecing themselves together.

I remembered it all.

It let me go.

Then stood up.

"Tell me."

"What do you feel right now."

My heart was beating fast.

My face contorted.

My brows twisted.

"Rage."

I replied.

Above the hole, the two figures still stood.

The man and the boy.

The boy bent down looking into the hole.

"How long have we been standing here? I'm bored."

The boy then laid flat on the floor.

"How much longer, old man."

The man narrowed his eyes as he stared into the hole.

"Not much longer."

"Let's go."

Finally they both turned to leave.

Then.

Ahhhhhhhhh.

A shriek so horrid reverberated.

Forcing both of them to one knee.

The man stood up.

His hand on his conical metal helmet.

The boy looked at him, his eyes widening.

"Hey old man, you shouldn't."

With a swipe along the rim of his hat.

Threads formed instantly.

Travelling through his body.

Then more threads followed.

Until it formed a black sleek suit around him.

The hat still seated on his head.

His face completely covered.

Only two red eyes remained.

His entire body lined with a red glow.

He looked robotic.

Without saying anything else.

He lunged himself into the hole.

The boy sighed.

"We are so getting in trouble."

He grabbed a pendant on his neck.

Then the same process occurred.

Threads forming rapidly.

Wrapping around his body.

His mask lining with the rest of the suit.

An orange glow spread across it.

The lining beneath his eyes glowed as well.

His orange hair flowing downward.

With no hesitation he followed.

---

**Down in the abyss…**

Both of them landed.

Their bodies enclosed by the darkness.

Only the bright light from the lining of their suits was visible.

The boy sniffed in the air.

"Disgust."

"Just how I remember it."

But they weren't helpless.

They could see quite perfectly.

And standing before them.

About seven feet in height.

Was Devon.

His left face was different from the right.

One part had a red eye.

While the other was normal.

One side had a smile.

The other had a frown.

Black tentacles replaced his arm.

Slowly moving.

The boy moved back a bit.

Entering a battle stance.

As he spoke through the mask, his voice slightly coarse.

"Now."

"This part."

"I don't remember."
