Mooning Over Future Husband
Tonight, I prepared for tomorrow's test. The government's professional certification exam, the one key that could unlock every door I had ever stood in front of. The attic could wait to receive the final touches from the supplies I'd bought. This was more important. Far more.
I had completed my medical education in the countryside, but not at some modest village school. The largest university in the nation had built a branch campus in our region, choosing our vast lands for the research facilities the city no longer had room for. Their experimental medical program had combined traditional herbal knowledge with modern science and somehow, I had thrived there.
Now, as I organized my notes on the attic floor, my grandmother's old medical texts lay beside my university textbooks. Willow bark and meadowsweet. Pharmacology and pathophysiology. Two worlds that had always felt separate, finally aligning into a single truth.
