"Kieran am off to work " Sarah said as she grabbed her bag walking up to his room door and peering into the room.
"Oh, okay see you later then " Kieran replied shifting in bed
"Yeah, make sure to take a stroll today it's been one week you have to come out of the house eventually "Sarah said closing his door back and walking out of the house.
"Ahhh" Kieran stretched as he got up and walked out of the room heading towards the bathroom to clean up. It had been one week and all through he hadn't stepped out of the house all through.
After he finished in the bathroom he headed to the kitchen to get breakfast and after that he cleaned up and took out the trash he changed into more presentable clothes putting on black pants and a gray shirt then stepped out of the house.
Firstly the sun blinded him for so long that he had to squint, after a while his eyes adapted to the light as he continued walking down the street his destination was unknown.
As he walked down the road he came across a lot of people those heading to work, those pushing cars, others just standing around smoking but you him what he saw was people who had been abandoned right here by the rest of the world.
Eventually he walked into the boundaries of district four and stepped into district three he kept walking along the path but not long later he stopped staring at a poster glued to the wall on it was a picture of a hunter academy the Emperion Hunters Academy on the poster also was details about registration and it turned out it wasn't compulsory to have super genes before been able to register it said something about a call to arms. Staring for a while Kieran eventually looked away and continued his walk he noticed there was lots of this posters pasted to the walls eventually Kieran walked into a store that sold books walking towards the counter where a short man potbellied man with a bald spot in the middle of his hair sat reading a newspaper.
"Good morning sir "Kieran said standing in front of him
"What do you want " he replied putting his newspaper away staring back at Kieran
" I saw the vacancy poster outside I would like the job "Kieran said staring at the mans reaction
"How old are you kid " the man asked as he observed Kieran
"Sixteen years"
"Well there is an age policy and I can'tgive the job to you as you're underage, do you understand kid" the man replied staring into Kieran's eyes
" But isn't the job just to stack books is there really an age policy for that sort of job " Kieran asked shocked to hear such things.
"Actually yes there is since three years ago it was stated by the government around that time because it helped their plans so ever since kids under 17 aren't allowed to have jobs " the man said opening his newspaper
"Why I mean what plans" Kieran asked
Drawing his newspaper close the man stared at Kieran in shock observing him for a while before nodding his head with a sigh
"You're from the fourth district right " he asked
" Yes I am, What's wrong" Kieran asked
"Here" the man offered him a paper, staring at the paper Kieran realised that it was the same poster he had seen pasted on the walls outside ' Emperion Hunter Academy '
" These were only posted in the third district it's the new hunter academy" he said
" What does this have to do with the policy there have been other hunter academies " Kieran asked
" It has everything to do with it because this academy is the militaries way of gaining its former power " the man said with a grin
" Read the flier " the man said watching as Kieran read through it
" Ages fifteen to sixteen are accepted into it " Kieran said surprise writing on his face. The other hunter academies only accepted those who where eighteen and it was well known that they didn't accept those younger this new academy came out and reduced its age acceptance to fifteen and sixteen messing the other hunter academies influx of students this meant that this new military hunter academy would get all the students beforehand leaving nothing left for the rest of the academies, also this new academy was entirely free the rest of the academies weren't getting students anymore as both the rich and poor were going to flock this new hunter academy leaving nothing to the rest academies.
"Now you understand what it has to do with the policy and how it benefits the hunter academy right, put it like this those rich kids would definitely attend this academy but the poor ones wouldn't want to mix in with them cause they would definitely worry about the consequences this policy is there to make sure they cut off their options I mean you can't get a job so there is no other thing left for you to do so either you join them or wait till you're off age to get a job " the man replied
" I even hear some rumors that every fifteen and sixteen year old is disappearing if the streets due to the other thing the call to arms I think it'skind of becoming compulsory that your age join the academy they say something about monster outbreak occurring frequently now so the earth needs more hunters that's why now i heard they're giving free super serums to those who can't afford it but they would have to meet the requirements from the fliers join the academy train for a year and if you're worth it they give you a super serum " the man said staring at Kieran's lost face
" I have said too much you should leave " the man opened his newspaper and buried his head into it as Kieran turned and walked out of his shop.
