"Did you hear? Alfa thinks that the girl, Dr Hunter, is actually his mate?" An old woman with graying hair said.
"No way, really?" Asked a young girl, who was helping in the kitchen.
"Yes, but she has green eyes!"
"So?"
"The Alfa's mate is supposed to have blue eyes! That's the reason old alfa Kane chose her as Alfa's bride. So they would give birth to blue eyed pups."
"Then maybe, she changed her eye colour?"
"Oh don't be silly Abby. How can someone change their eye colour?" Meredith asked Abigail.
"But grandma, wouldn't the alfa be able to smell her if she were a wolf?" Abigail asked, curiously.
"Is the breakfast ready?" A voice came from the doorway.
Both women mumbled a 'sorry' and continued cooking.
It was early hours of the morning, and the sun was far from raising yet. After hearing everything the cooks were talking about, the woman at the door, had to see this Dr Hunter herself.
She crept out of the back door of the pack house, and after making sure that no one was watching her, ran towards the forest. She had to get to them before the alfa's beta, Sinclair does.
She ran toward the old house. In all these years, no one had repaired it. Alfa Kane was such an arrogant animal, that he wanted to demolish the house after old Mr Brown died.
It was because of Flowerew that it stayed, as he had planned to invite tourists to the village and let them stay in that house, so that if Aria ever came, she would be emotionally overwhelmed and get caught.
If this doctor was indeed Aria, she had to help her get out, before he finds out about it.
But why would Kimberly send her back? It had to be a mistake, but she had to make sure that her alfa's last remaining heir is protected. Late Alfa Mark Moonstone would never forgive her if his daughter gets caught... oh no... she had to prevent it.
Flowerew would have felt something, that's why he feels this way.
Kimberly surely told her to look for her, so why didn't Aria come to her? Of course how would she? She doesn't know anyone here, so just knowing Patricia Stones would have raised suspicions.
The house at last. The woman went and slowly knocked on the door. She heard rustling in the house, then whispers.
"Did someone knock?" Alex asked.
"I think so!" Amelia said.
"Go check!" Maryann said.
"Wake Arya," Darian said.
"Arya? Arya, someone's at the door!"
"What? Who?" Arya sat up.
They were all in the sitting room, where the lab was set up.
The soft knock sounded again. This time they all jumped.
"I'll go check," Arya said getting up, completely forgetting her lens. "Who is it?" She asked, before opening the door.
"It's me, Patricia."
The door swung open so fast that it scared the living daylights out of everyone.
Did Arya know Patricia?
Arya pulled the woman in, almost banging the door shut behind them.
"Oh God! It is you!" The woman said, staring Arya straight into her eyes.
She then looked at her neck. She slowly held the chain and took out the pendant, and to Arya's shock, she didn't stop her. Did she already trust her? She barely knew her.
The woman's eyes watered. "It is true! You are here!" Patricia said, caressing the stone.
"Oh God Aria, what are you doing here?" She asked, her brown eyes suddenly focused. "Do you even know the Alfa thinks..." she looked behind her, to the others, then back at Arya, with a questioning gaze.
"They don't know," Arya whispered.
"Don't know what?" they questioned together.
"The less you know, the better!" Arya snapped.
"So you know something we don't... something about this villagers?" Darian asked.
Arya walked to her team. "Yes. Because I'm part of this village. That's all you need to know!" Arya said, unable to hide this anymore.
The others looked shocked. So shocked they stared silently.
Since when did Arya start hiding things from them?
"And when you get out safely, you will tell my aunt that Arya stayed back because she wanted to! Am I clear?" Arya said looking at them.
"No Aria! You have to get out," Patricia exclaimed. "If he finds out..."
"I'm not going. My team needs to get out, and I'm going to make sure this pathetic alfa gets the most miserable death," Arya said.
"No," Patricia whispered loudly. "We have to talk alone!"
Arya saw the time in her phone, 3.30am. She then turned to her team. "No one comes in; no one goes out. Understood?"
"You can't be serious!" Darian said, eyes wide.
"You can't just leave us here all alone," Amelia said.
"Aria, their heart beats tells me that they are really scared. I'll meet you after you have breakfast, in the forest, and I'll try talking to you," Patricia said, before turning around to leave.
As soon as Patricia left, Arya sprayed something at the doorway and a little outside as well. As she entered back into the house, four angry, confused and shocked people stared at her.
"All of you, just...."
"No Arya! What is going on?" Amelia was the first to ask.
"Yes, and who was that woman, and what do you mean you're from this village? Maryann threw in.
"What are you hiding? We deserve to know," Darian asked.
"Especially if our lives are in danger," Alex also added, folding his arms across his chest.
Arya knew that she had a lot of explaining to do, but where does she start? She also knew so little about these pack, and she just needs to get them out, somehow. If they know, they'll never be able to leave, given that they won't be able to lie.
The way Patricia said the alfa thinks... but couldn't continue, Arya didn't feel too good about it.
Does he feel the mate bond, without getting a scent? But she smelt human! Could it be something else? "Arya, we're waiting!" Shirley said, and a line of 'Yeah' chorused behind him.
"Fine, I'll tell you what I know, but you have to sleep right now, and I promise I'll tell you everything in the morning," Arya said, feeling defeated.
