"Aaaaahhhhh." A scream echoed through the house.
Everyone's eyes fluttered open and lights came on. A big brown wolf jumped out of Arya's room and disappeared into the wilderness.
"DID YOU SEE THAT?" Alex screamed just as Darian ran into the room. He also stood there, frozen.
They all saw it... was it the dire wolf? Yes. It obviously was.
Alex was literally shaking, and they all sat together on the floor. "I...I was just... and saw... I just... it had... " Alex was stuttering.
"Calm down Alex," Amelia said, giving him some water, that she always kept with her.
Alex gulped down the water, and took deep breaths to calm himself enough to talk.
"I... I was sneaking into your room to scare you, and... and I saw...glowing grey eyes... oh God, you all saw it right?" He looked around the room for their confirmation... anything that will suggest he wasn't going insane.
"Yes, we all saw it..." Arya said, but Alex interrupted, "it was looking straight at you, Arya!"
Arya froze hearing this. She tried to swallow a lump in her throat. No, it isn't Alfa Flowerew, because she clearly remembered him as a pup, blue eyes and pitch black fur. Could it have been Sinclair? Or maybe Herman?
It was definitely someone close to Alfa. Was he keeping an eye on them? Or her? Did he suspect her to be Aria Moonstone?
The only way to find out would be to see Sinclair and Herman's eye colour.
The sound of a scream woke every werewolf in Moonsglow. Alfa Flowerew immediately knew his beta had been caught. 'Ronald, where are you' he mindlinked his friend.
'In the woods. One of them saw me.' Replied Sinclair.
'Meet me in my office, now.'
'Yes Alfa.'
As he cut the link to his beta, hundreds of voices came into his mind.
'What was that?'
'Is everything alright?'
'Are we under attack?'
'Who screamed like that?'
And many more mindlinks, so Alfa Flowerew just said, 'Everyone, calm down. Situations under control. Get rest.' With that, all the panic died down. They all listened to their Alfa.
He walked to the balcony of his room, since he knew if Sinclair remains in wolf form, he'll get in through there, and sure enough, he saw a familiar brown wolf running his way.
It jumped in through the window of his room, and lay on the floor.
"I said office, not room," Flowerew said, staring at the huge wolf in front of him.
"Fine," Sinclair replied after turning back into his human form.
Alfa threw him a bathrobe, to cover himself with and both walked out of the alfa's room, heading to the office.
"So, what happened?" Alfa asked after they both sat down.
"I had entered and was observing Miss Hunter when suddenly, I heard him scream," he explained calmly.
"I looked towards the door and suddenly all lights were switched on and I had no choice but to run".
"Did they see you?"
"Yes... I think so".
"So we basically gave them prove that dire wolves exist," Alfa said, leaning back against his chair. "Did you find out about the chain?"
There was a stretch of silence, and he knew Sinclair didn't see the pendant, if there was one.
"Alfa..."
"Do you know what you did?"
"Alfa... I..."
"We have to do damage control. Who screamed?"
"Toothpick!" Sinclair replied.
"He is more trouble than I thought. We have to do something," Flowerew said, his eyes glowing a darker blue.
Sinclair knew it was his wolf talking.
"Oh my God, Arya, you have to see this!" Darian said, looking out the window. He was the only one who was brave enough to go see the window through which that wolf had entered.
Arya and the others went to the window. They saw footprints. Human footprints pointing toward the window and paw prints going out.
"OMG! Is that...? Maryann began but Arya cut her mid sentence. "I think we shouldn't talk about it right now."
"But..."
Arya put her finger on her lips and gestured for everyone to get their phones. She knew it was one of the werewolves, so she didn't want them to know that they suspect something.
'We all saw the footprints!' Maryann messaged
'Why are we using our phone?' Amelia asked.
'If they are what we think they are, they can probably hear us!' Arya replied.
'What are they?'
'It looked like a human turned into... but it's impossible.'
'Are they really... werewolves?'
'But they don't exist!'
'Yes, but then how do you explain the footprints?'
They were in a group chat, and all of them were scared. If these people are really werewolves, that means they are in danger. Then they noticed Arya wasn't saying anything.
'Arya, why are you so quiet?' Amelia asked.
'Because if they are werewolves, we need to get out of here, without raising any suspicion. We must act normal; scared, but normal in front of them, because we don't know for sure who it was, and if they are all wolves, or not.
Don't forget, if they are really werewolves, we're in their territory.' Arya replied.
'So we're all in danger!'
'Oh God, can't we just leave now.'
'They have iron gates, how would we cross that?'
'What do we do?'
'Arya, why are you so quiet?'
'Because panicking won't help us. Tomorrow at breakfast, let me handle the talking.' Arya replied.
'But Arya, that wolf was looking at you!' Alex said. 'Why?'
'Is there something you're not telling us.' Maryann asked.
'You seem so calm! Do you know something we don't?'
Now they were bombarding Arya with questions... questions that she knew the answer of, but couldn't tell them. She couldn't tell them anything, as this will risk their lives, and could get them killed.
'Look, we can get out alive, then come back later to complete the research. Your safety is my number 1 priority right now. Please just calm down!' Arya replied.
'Our safety? What about you?' Alex asked.
'We all get out together, right.'
'Of course we all get out together, as long as they don't know that we know.'
'Are you all crazy.' Everyone looked at Darian. He still was typing, 'if they are werewolves, it would be the greatest discovery of all. We could be famous.'
'Darian, are you crazy? These wolves will kill first, ask questions later!'
'Exactly.'
'Amelia is right, Darian, these wolves won't just let us go if they know we will expose their existence. They will rather kill us.' Arya said.
'But Arya, what do we do now.'
'Tell the alfa that after seeing that wolf last night, we're too scared to continue, and would like to go back.' Arya said.
