"You could… but I know you wouldn't" Eva said trying to hide her fear
"And why wouldn't I?" Zeiran asked, leaning closer, his grip a bit tighter. Eva took a deep breath and pushed his hand away "because if you wanted to, you would have" she replied as she walked away, giving a bit of distance between them.
Zeiran stared at her from behind, he could feel the fear she was trying to hold in so desperately. He smiled and then, he laughed. Eva kept walking without daring to look back once until she made it home.
She entered the front door and slammed it behind her like she was being chased. She turned to see Luke and Lizzy sitting on the couch, the memories of what happened replayed back in her head. She took a deep breath and ignored them , proceeding to her room.
"I don't know what the hell you are, but if you think you can hurt me and just get off the hook , you are very mistaken." Lizzy said, Eva looked back at her, "Remind me how old you are again…?" Eva stared at her like she was trying to pry into her soul. Her soulless gaze have Lizzy an unfortunate yet, very familiar knot in her guts.
Lizzy tighten her fist in rage, Eva walked into her room and took off her clothes before stepping into the bathroom.
She came out of the bathroom, feeling now at ease. She felt a bit thirsty after the running, but going all the way down felt a bit difficult. Besides, she wasn't ready to deal with those two imbeciles. With a reluctant sigh and tired eyes, she dragged herself down to the kitchen. The icy cold water flowed down the back of her throat and her eyes glazed over in refreshment. She let out a deep breath as she finished and went straight to bed to sleep. What a day.
Later that night, the entire house was shaken by a loud scream. Eva jumped out of bed and rushed downstairs. Luke was laying on the floor foaming from his mouth.
"What happened?!" Fredrick asked he rushed down the stairs. As soon as he got to the scene, his stomach dropped as he stared at Luke, convulsing and foaming from the mouth. He turned to Lizzy and Eva, desperate for an explanation. Eva's mother also fled down the stairs, gasping as she beheld the sight.
"He drank some water in Eva's room. I think she wanted to poison him" Lizzy said with tears in her eyes as she held Luke's head on her lap. All eyes turned to Eva who just got out of bed because of the noise was still trying to process everything that seemed to be going on. Eva noticed they're eyes meant they were waiting for her to say something but of couse she had nothing to say; she literally woke up less than a minute ago. Besides, was she the only one who heard the devilish inclined pitch in Lizzy's voice while she pretended to cry?
Before anyone could say anything, an ambulance arrived, taking Luke. Fredrick went with them while Eva's mom drove Lizzy and Eva to the hospital. All through the drive no one said a word until they got to the hospital.
When they got to the hospital before any of them could go check on Luke, Fredrick came out of the room angrily and grabbed Eva by the hand, dragging her outside. Her mom followed and Lizzy wouldn't have missed this for the world.
As soon as they got out outside Fredrick yelled
"Why did you do this?! Why do you want to hurt my kids?! You injured Lizzy with a knife, I didn't say a word but poison? What the hell did I ever do to you to deserve this?"
Eva just looked at himself slightly shocked and speechless
"Daddy I am so scared." Lizzy ran to her father, hugging him from behind. Fredrick hugged her back and she snickered at Eva "You have lost this game, Eva" she said with a wide smirk.
"Don't you think this is odd?" Eva said with a blank stare not caring less about the situation.
"What are you talking about?" Lizzy turned to her, her eyes narrowing.
"You claim that he got poisoned by drinking water, which he found in my room?"
"You somehow knew he was going to take the water and you poisoned it. " Lizzy spoke in defense.
"If I wanted to poison Luke, I would have put it in his food instead and is anyone wondering why a guy whose room is down stairs and closest to the kitchen would come all the way up just to get a glass of water? And from my room of all people? I'm sure it's not news that I and Luke aren't exactly buddies" Eva said. Lizzy clenched her jaw. She was losing ground and she knew it. She glared at Eva and Eva glared back with a more threatening stare. Lizzy felt like prey being used as a toy before eventually being eaten. Everyone there froze and one by one, one eye after another, everyone turned to Lizzy, who was looking nervous.
"My guess will be that someone gave him the water, someone who was with him to begin with" Eva said looking at Lizzy.
"Lizzy, was the first to call out when he fell unconscious" Eva mom backed up
"NO… it doesn't make sense. M-my daughter will never do that" Fredrick stood in front of her, trying to protect her from the accusations. "That's her brother were6talking about!-" "Alright then, there is no way a sweet little girl like Lizzy could do such thing. I mean, how exactly did it happen? that means someone came to our house and planned all this thing because how the hell was there poison in our house to begin with. we should call the authorities" Eva suggested and she stared at Fredrick and Lizzy with a sarcastic tone. Both their faced went pale.
"W-why… do… we have to do t-that?" Fredrick said trying to sound as normal as possible, like his system wasn't on panic mode
"Well, that is the only way to clear my name and find the actual person who is trying to ruin our happy family" Eva smiled and Lizzy felt her stomach tie up in knots.
Lizzy thought for a while. If the authorities got here, they would find out who did it and she would be in a lot of trouble. Fredrick on the other hand, thought if the authorities got there and started an investigation which would involve checking their house, he would surely be arrested and he knew his plans would be over before he could execute them.
"There is no need to call them, I am sure there was some misunderstanding we are missing some where" Fredrick said trying to push it way, to avoid his secrets from being exposed
Lizzy silently scolded herself for not been smart enough, biting her lip so hard, it bled. From the looks in her eyes, it was obvious she was ready to kill at the moment.
"What are you talking about" I wouldn't be the one to call them, the hospital will because such a situations require involvement by the authorities."
At that moment, a nurse came in and gave them a police mandatory report form and asked him to fill it.
Fredrick looked at Eva in cold sweat, before taking the papers form the nurse. Eva just smiled at him like nothing just happened and Lizzy looked like she was about to tear up.
He stared at the papers and gripped it hard like he was going to tear it apart, Eva took the pen from the nurse and handed it to Fredrick
"Here, your going to need this right?"
