The Most Strongest Transcendent Ever
Chapter 7: My Little Sister Hates Me?
The shrill sound of the bell resonated through the classroom, signaling the end of another day of lessons. "Alright, that's all for today, class! I'll see you guys next Monday!" I announced cheerfully, feeling the usual sense of relief wash over me as students sprang from their desks, gathering their belongings while laughter and chatter filled the air.
As I made my way home, I let my gaze wander over the streets. The sky blazed with hues of orange and pink, casting a warm glow across the quiet neighborhood. Rows of houses stood neat and uniform, yet each held its own charm. Finally, I reached my own home, a modest two-story structure framed by a white picket fence, with vibrant flower beds blooming along the walkway. The door, a sturdy oak with a brass handle, stood invitingly in front of me. I walked up the steps, feeling the familiar creaks and groans of the boards beneath my feet.
As I opened the door, a sudden, sharp force collided with my face-my little sister's shoe! I stumbled backward, barely catching myself against the wall.
"Big bro, you're late! You promised we'd hang out today!" she exclaimed, her voice tinged with disappointment. Midorino stood there, pouting, her small frame crossed defensively. She wore a vibrant pink dress decorated with playful cartoon patterns, and her jet-black hair, tied into two lively ponytails, swayed gently as she moved. Her striking green eyes glimmered with frustration, and I felt a pang of guilt for letting her down.
I shook my head, trying to hide my embarrassment. "Huh? Come again?" I replied sheepishly, realizing I'd missed her words earlier.
"Big bro, you're the worst!" she exclaimed, her voice cracking with a mix of frustration and sadness. Without another word, she turned and dashed to her room, slamming the door behind her.
I let out a long sigh and slowly made my way to my own room, the weight of her disappointment settling heavily on my shoulders. Lying on my bed, I stared up at the ceiling, thoughts of Midorino spinning in my mind. I'll fix things with her tomorrow. Maybe I can plan a fun day together… or at least make her laugh again. That incident-the one we both try to forget-still lingered in the back of my mind, a shadow I couldn't entirely shake.
Even as I closed my eyes, a faint unease lingered. Something about today felt… different. Not just the way Midorino had acted, but the world outside-there's always a sense that things aren't as simple as they seem.
With that lingering thought, I let sleep wash over me, hoping that by morning, I could make things right with my sister… and perhaps face whatever else might be waiting beyond the quiet streets of home.
To be continued...
