Adriel felt confused and lost. The pain caused by his broken arm made him lose himself in his mind, not even knowing what he was trying to think.
The young man tried to move his arm, but nothing responded. From his shoulder to the tip of his middle finger, everything remained still, as if afraid to move.
He gave it a little push with his right arm, and in addition to the pain, he felt something liquid move along with the sound of solid things colliding with each other. The weight of his arm at his fingertips was disproportionate to the other.
He carefully grabbed where his elbow should have been and noticed that there were no bones and very little flesh.
Inside, it looked like a sack of potatoes. Hundreds of bone fragments were embedded in the walls of his flesh and skin, and the rest were piled up in his hand. Most of his bones were nothing more than specks of dust and small, sharp pieces.
Adriel also looked at his right hand. Black and ash gray predominated on his hand, almost all of the burns left by the fire were third degree, some being second degree.
The predominant sensation in his mind and body was pain, along with exhaustion. The force used to kill each goblin hit him, leaving him knocked out on the ground.
...
When he woke up, Adriel saw the system window. "Congratulations, you have killed 28 goblin fighters. Phase: Initial. Category: E. You have obtained 56 coins."
In front of him were the bodies of the goblins. The pain in his right hand did not prevent him from using it to stand up and summon his katana, using it as support. With effort, he managed to get everyone's blue ball.
'There are several from Vanity... I guess I'll use one of those. Suddenly, the system reappeared, giving him bad news. "Your leather breastplate has disappeared due to calcination." Upon reading this, he tried to summon it, but noticed that, indeed, he could not use it.
Adriel didn't feel bad; after all, it was just clothing and a chest plate that didn't work very well, so he calmly grabbed a blue ball and used it.
Black pants covered his feet, although he needed momentum to be able to touch them. His chest and shoulders were covered by a bright red shirt and a large light blue jacket.
Out of nowhere, his face was filled with the white glow created by the system, which reappeared in front of him. "You have advanced in your class by 25%, your qualities are improving to get closer to the goal."
Adriel was stunned by what the system told him. 'So they don't give you qualities like superhuman senses when you select it.'
The boy began to move his right hand a little, then thought. 'That means everything I've achieved, I could achieve in the real world... Well, only to a certain extent.' He was excited for a moment, but felt that it didn't affect him that much.
The boy stood there for ten minutes, but he didn't see any new notifications, so he looked at the blue balls. First, he checked the ones from the goblins with swords. They were all either vanity items or simple, poor-quality weapons made of stone. The balls from the archers were more of the same: poor-quality arrows and bows, as well as vanity items.
Finally, he picked up the two from the wizards and the one from the guy with the flag. "Goblin fauna and flora journal. Phase: Initial. Category: F. A book with the fauna and flora known to goblins." He checked the second blue ball. "Grimoire of rituals. Phase: Initial. Category: E. A grimoire with magnificent rituals."
Seeing these two rewards, the boy became excited. 'Now we can eat better, I could even help Amara perform,' he thought. If anyone could read his thoughts, they would notice the lack of emotion; they were just empty words, attempts to ignore his pain.
Finally, he grabbed the ball with the flag on it. "Healing potion." Adriel didn't read any further; the title told him everything he needed to know. His lips stretched into a wide smile, but he soon realized that, besides the fact that he should give it to Amara, her injuries were so severe that the potion wouldn't help her heal.
He calmly got up and began to walk towards the lake, occasionally bumping his head and falling down. Thanks to the lack of an arm, he didn't know how to keep his balance now, and he was still a little sleepy.
When he reached the lake, he felt heavy, but he managed to say something. "In my pockets there are... blue spheres." Adriel fell to the ground with a thud.
Everyone remained silent. They saw Adriel unconscious, but they did not approach him. The last time he had arrived like this, he had hit Amara hard. After an hour, they decided to grab him and carry him themselves.
Kael and Amara stared at the motionless body of the unconscious boy, while Elena approached Adriel. "What are you doing?" Kael said with a frown.
"He said it, he has objects, there could be interesting things." Elena began rummaging through the boy's pockets, then moved her hands closer to his private parts.
"Stop," Kael saw Elena's behavior and stopped her.
Elena continued rummaging through his pockets, grabbing the 28 balls. "I wonder how much money I'll make with this. He still owes me for the katana."
"You know he won't pay you anything anyway. You're basically his slave," Kael said as he approached to look at the balls.
They quickly noticed the potion and the two books. Without hesitation, they gave these three balls to Amara, then separated them into categories: Weapons, Utility, and Vanity. Everything in these categories was almost completely useless.
Amara looked at Adriel. She wanted to give him the potion for his wound on his face, but since he hadn't used it before, she knew he wanted the potion for her.
First, she summoned it, then removed the cork with some difficulty and brought the potion to her mouth, drinking the blue liquid inside in one gulp.
"Bottom, bottom, bottom," said Elena, as if she were watching a drinking contest.
After swallowing the first part, she felt her wounds heal completely, but some liquid remained in her mouth. She opened her mouth and showed it to the other two.
"Swallow it," Kael said.
"Leave it in the bottle," Elena said.
Amara didn't know what to do. She turned to look at Adriel, who was still asleep. She approached him carefully and opened his mouth, then looked down and opened her own, sticking out her tongue to try to guide the blue liquid that began to flow into Adriel's mouth.
Seeing this, Elena regretted not having thought of it herself, while Kael felt somewhat disgusted.
After a few seconds, Adriel's cheek fell and his hand was a little better, but the burns did not disappear completely. His arm was still as it had been before, broken and unusable.
Amara grabbed Adriel's left spleen only to realize the state it was in. "Huh?" The girl fell silent, incredulous at what she felt.
Elena and Kael realized that the girl was silent and stunned, so they approached her, and Kael spoke. "What happened?"
