The night at Eden Hill was suffocating.
The lights in my study flickered against the polished wood of the desk, papers scattered everywhere from the reports my men had brought in. I'd been sitting there for hours, reading and re-reading, but nothing made sense.
The attack had been too smooth.
Whoever was behind it wanted more than blood and it was driving me crazy how I couldn't get to the bottom of it.
I had the best tech team who could easily dig up the main person behind this.
It was clear from the insignia on the men's necks that they weren't operating alone but there were a lot of people who could be involved in this.
And I knew only one person who enjoyed that kind of spectacle.
When my phone rang again, I didn't even have to look at the screen. The number was private, and the timing was too deliberate. I sighed, leaning back in my chair before answering.
"What do you want, Vanessa?"
