Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Ranking and Traits

As he was thinking, he quickly came up with a solution. The solution worked in two parts. The first was a ranking of sorts, among the 5 kingdoms and 15 tribes. The kingdom that conquered the most other kingdoms would be placed higher on the rankings. And this ranking would only be updated once every year. This way, it would barely use any Collective Energy, needing only 1 per king per year to update.

'Plus, I will make it such that it is only visible to the kings of each country. In such a way, I would also be able to affect who could be considered the king of a particular kingdom if need be…' James mused as a smile crept up on his non-existent face.

'And at the end of 100 years, the top kingdom would be given information regarding a particular technology. But this would very easily catch up to the modern weapons we had used during the second World War, given that time is sped up. As long as they get access to the important logistical technologies, like blast furnaces for iron and steel making, and steam engines, the technology would rapidly improve to the point that the system will not have any actual benefit to the kings of the kingdoms.'

'Hmm… perhaps I could purchase knowledge of technology from others on the chat… Though it would be leaving my future in the hands of others. No… this cannot be the case. I must not give out technology for the leaders of the rankings. There must be another benefit…' James went through a range of different thoughts, following each through to multiple years into the future to see different possible outcomes in terms of just development.

Finally, he came to two rather odd solutions. The first was a lottery wheel or something similar, where he could simply assign useless technologies after he ran out of good ones, just randomly giving out useful technologies when he came up with them, or found them out from others on the chat.

The second solution was something completely different. And yet, when he asked the system if it was possible, the reply he got was that as long as he spent Collective Energy, it would be possible.

After a while of thinking, he selected the latter.

And that option was the option of splitting his race into sub-races. After spending Collective Energy, he could use his talent on all beings of his race as a whole, but not actually copy their individual talents. Instead, it was meant to create a codex of all possible traits available to be copied at that moment.

And he could give this list to the kings of each kingdom and tribe chief; whoever was at the top of the ranking. They would be able to select one of the abilities to be added as a trait for their particular kingdom of tribe, which would be reclassified as a separate sub-race under the Jerry Race.

'This would give them significant autonomy, while also strengthening the strongest kingdoms. Hmm, but every 500 years or so, all the traits would diffuse into the entire race, resetting the playing field. But this would be too drastic, so the process will happen slowly over 100 more years, and by then, another strongest kingdom would be selected, allowing them to have a competitive edge over the others with an additional trait,' James nodded to himself at this, but then turned to the banking system.

He was receiving too little Collective Energy to put this plan into actions. And after thinking about the possibilities for a moment, he waved his hand and changed the percentages.

Now, 5% of the Collective Energy received by the various kingdom and tribe banks would be stores until the end of the year. Here, 3% would be sent to James for him to use for these various tasks, 1.5% would be sent for increasing the population, and 0.5% would be stored by the banks for when James wished to use it. The same would be for the Conflict Bank.

After completing this, James smiled in satisfaction at his project before sending it into implementation. With this, he would not have to micromanage which traits to make his race learn. And although it might have the side effect of having non-useful traits being added because of the ineptitude of the kings of the winning kingdom, James had decided to device a grading system on the abilities of the various traits.

Though this would take time, since he would have to set up a program of sorts that was able to analyse the various current and future benefits of each trait being added in connection to the existing traits, before assigning a value to each trait.

'I have time. And with this, it does not matter if the race rapidly develops in technology. In fact, it would be great if it could develop in technology,' James smiled to himself, hoping to see his Jerries reach the development of, at least the same level as Germany of his previous life.
