Chapter 27:Fading Illusions
I woke up in this weird room again. IT WAS HER.Celestial sat in her chair,eating what appeared to be octopus tentacles again like from before.
"This is our second dream encounter Irai."She spoke softly.
"I got two questions.Why are you trying to contact me and what did Sosu mean before I went into that portal?"She sighed.
"It's long to explain-"
"Take all the time you need."
"Alrighty then.What Sosu meant was since elevators carry people around rather than people walking up stairs he meant that you should put in the hard work and not cheat."
"But that's hypocritical!"
"It's different for us demon sorcerers. We have different goals and different purposes in life compared to humans."
"Oh.And the other thing?"
"I tried to contact you because…well…"
"What is it?"
"You're gonna have to process this VERY VERY carefully so I'll explain it in the best way I can because I know there's a lot going on in your mind right now."
"SPIT IT OUT!"
"Be patient or I won't tell you.You're lucky I'm even helping you."
"Sorry."
"Don't be.Words are more useless than actions after all.
Anyways,there's been a sudden shift in my dimension.There's an eerie presence that I can't describe."
"How does that effect me then?"
"Your dimension must feel weird as well,or it's going to.I feel a strong aura very close to us. It's as if something cosmic like is coming."
"WHAT!"
"Shouting will cause more stress so just shut up for a minute and let me explain!"
"Fine."
"There's something big and powerful coming. An ancient trio from the start of these dimensions. It's the ILO.You have only one page of information in your ancient book."
"Wait what page?"
"I can't remember but it's in there somewhere that an ancient trio will come to either bring peace or ruin the world."
"How do we know if they're good or not?"
"...we don't."
"Celestial you're scaring me.What is this ILO?Who are they?"
"They live in the void dimension for now but there will be a gateway between your world and their world."
"Who are they though?"
"The I stands for Iris the angel.L stands for Lunar the sea serpent.O stands for Overlord the demon and the leader of the three."
"Gosh…I should tell the other Genshi as soon as I wake up."
"Find that book first then tell them."
"I will."
WAKE UP
Suddenly I was awake in the real world again.I rushed out of bed and scavenged for the book.'
"Where are you?"I looked closely from place to place and found it laying in the middle of the kitchen.I picked it up. It had a mix of red,blue and yellow.I looked at the page in hope.But despair hit harder than anything could.I didn't understand anything on the page.
It looked like scribbles from a child.Nothing made sense.Fear spread through me like wildfire.I wanted to tell everyone else but…what if that would just make them even more scared?I needed to tell everyone about this cosmic trio.Who knows their strength or intentions or how big they are.What if they can understand human language?
The only way to find out was for those signs to come.Even the symbols didn't make any sense. It was beyond human perception.Nobody in the Genshi could understand it,I doubt it. We humans are limited but…I'll make it work somehow.
Just then,the door creaked open.They came back from the hospital.I stared,puzzled.
"Irai are you ok?"Maku slowly approached me.
"Yes!I'm-fine."
"You don't seem fine to me…"He looked down at the book.Then quickened his pace.
"Wait Maku!"I pushed him away slightly.
"I want to see that page,RIGHT NOW!"I sighed and handed it to him,he grabbed it,blunt and emptiness in his eyes,his soul..
"WHAT THE-"He threw the book onto the ground and rubbed his eyes.
"It can't be that bad!"Kimiko picked it up and widened her eyes.
"We can't read it obviously..wait where's Yanagi?"
"She refused to leave and stayed with Aizakku."
"Fair enough."She placed the book on the table.
We all peered over to have a look at the same time.
"Whoever wrote this needs to add a translator.I've never seen this much gibberish in a page of the ancient book!"
"I know right."
"Why were you on that specific page in the first place Irai?"
"Celestial told me something…"
"What is it?"
"The IlO."
"Wait..the mythical trio?The one from the void dimension?There's been tales and legends of them."
"They must be special then!"
"They are.Rumors claim they wrote the ancient book.There might be more that we don't know of!"
"Ignore that.For now we need information on the signs."
"Take this to Chief Lenny?"
"If we can't read it how could he?"
"Why couldn't he?"
"Because we're human and he's human yet Celestial has definitely read ALL the pages of the book before."
"Still worth a shot though right?We don't have a ton of options."
"Fair enough."
"What's our next plan?"
"We adapt."
