Chapter 21 - Chapter 21

"Steve Rogers?" Logan frowned, instinctively shielding his face. "Do we know each other?"

Hearing his name, Steve was startled. It wasn't that he was surprised the other man knew it; after all, after the Battle of New York, his name was known to everyone.

What surprised him was the strangely familiar voice.

In the faint moonlight, Logan's face vaguely resembled that of an old acquaintance.

"Perhaps not," Logan shook his head.

Meeting now was not a good idea.

However, seeing Steve's expression, Logan immediately realized he had overreacted.

The Steve Rogers in the blue and white suit seemed unable to recall his former comrade.

This was good.

Although he and Steve had been comrades-in-arms during World War II, their friendship was not as deep as his bond with Bucky.

Now, Steve was the illustrious Captain America, while he was nothing more than a frail old mutant sought by the government.

Steve might fight the government for Bucky, but he would never rebel against it for himself. He would always side with the government.

"Your voice sounds familiar," Steve said, looking at Logan.

"Really?" Logan suddenly smiled. "Perhaps we do know each other. If so, let your old friend go."

"Don't even think about it, friend," Steve shook his head, simultaneously raising his round shield in front of him. He wasn't going to let an unknown person who had openly attacked S.H.I.E.L.D. get away!

However, as soon as Steve finished speaking, Logan didn't hold back. Instead, he lunged at him.

Whoosh!

The sudden acceleration made Logan seem as swift as the wind, and his clenched fist impacted Steve's thigh without hesitation.

He knew how powerful the Vibranium shield was; not even his Adamantium claws could penetrate it.

However, the Vibranium shield also had a clear weakness: its small size meant it couldn't block anything below the waist when held at chest height.

Bang!

A dull thud resonated as Logan's relentless punch slammed into Steve's thigh. The searing pain that shot through his muscles made Steve gasp, and the force of the impact made him stagger back several steps.

Steve regained his footing, gritting his teeth to endure the throbbing pain in his thigh, and suddenly looked at Logan. An elderly man, sixty or seventy years old, possessed such explosive power!

If it weren't for the serum that had granted him unimaginable resilience, that punch would have shattered his femur!

While Steve stood there in shock, Logan quickly drew his pistol from his waistband and, without hesitation, pulled the trigger, aiming at Steve's head.

The bullet reached the chamber, and the muzzle flash made Steve's pupils dilate in surprise. He swiftly raised his shield to block it.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The high-velocity bullets were stopped by the Vibranium shield, producing a crisp, metallic clatter.

Logan's finger continued to squeeze the trigger; in less than three seconds, the magazine was empty.

As the last bullet fired, Logan decisively threw away his pistol, bent down sharply, bracing himself with his hand, and delivered a quick blow with his right leg toward Steve's shin.

The speed was such that Steve, his head obscured by the shield, had no time to react. Logan's attack directly struck his lower leg, with such immense force that he felt as if the muscles in his shin were about to burst. Losing his balance, he collapsed to the ground.

Seeing this, Logan's gaze turned icy, and he lunged at him, like a wolf stalking its prey in the night.

Steve, lying on the ground, his pupils sharply contracted, and he raised the shield again to block.

Bang!

Fists hit the shield hard but caused no damage.

Steve lay on the ground, one hand clutching the shield, and launched a punch at Logan's head.

Logan's expression tightened, and he leaped into the air as he felt Steve's fist rush past his face.

Seizing the opportunity, Steve spun himself around and jumped up, his gaze fixed on Logan, his eyes filled with astonishment.

After this brief exchange, he could see that Logan's combat skills were incredibly good; he didn't waste the slightest opportunity. If Steve had the slightest opening in his defense, Logan would attack it mercilessly!

Furthermore, he perfectly understood the defensive capabilities of his Vibranium shield, constantly maneuvering around it! Such combat prowess made even a seasoned WWII veteran like Steve look like a novice!

Steve understood that if he continued to defend passively, he wouldn't gain the upper hand.

Thinking this, Steve didn't hesitate and charged at Logan, his Vibranium shield blurring with speed as he attacked ruthlessly.

He couldn't continue defending passively; he had to take the initiative and gain an advantage! Seeing the Vibranium shield hurtling towards him, Logan knew he couldn't take it head-on, so he quickly dodged, using the momentum of Steve's lunge to deliver another punch to his chest.

But Steve, a seasoned veteran, reacted instantly, blocking Logan's iron fist with his other hand.

They wrestled, unleashing terrifying speed and power that no ordinary person could withstand. Even the surrounding cargo containers were affected; a simple blow from either of them would leave a large dent in the heavy metal.

However, while Captain America's physical abilities were superior, having been frozen for seventy years meant many of his fighting techniques were outdated.

Logan, on the other hand, although physically weaker and slightly less powerful and fast than Captain America, possessed fighting skills honed over nearly two centuries that Steve couldn't match. His technical superiority even gave him the edge.

After several minutes of fierce fighting with no clear winner, they seemed to reach a tacit understanding, backing up a few feet and staring intently at each other in the darkness of the night.

"Were you a soldier before?" Steve asked. He could tell that Logan's fighting style resembled US Army combat techniques, the kind only seen in the armed forces.

Moreover, Logan's fighting prowess was exceptional; he was undoubtedly a seasoned veteran who had spent significant time in the military.

Logan did not answer; his eyes, like those of a wolf, were fixed on Steve, and with a sudden push-off from both legs, he lunged at him.

He heard approaching footsteps in the distance; it seemed S.H.I.E.L.D. reinforcements had arrived.

If S.H.I.E.L.D. surrounded him, he would have no escape!

He had to deal with Steve as quickly as possible and flee before reinforcements arrived.

"We've both been soldiers, maybe we can sit down and talk!"

Steve's expression changed drastically upon seeing Logan charging at him. He shouted as he forcefully threw his shield.

The shield, spinning at high speed, could instantly bend thick steel!

Bang!

To Steve's astonishment, Logan opened his arms and caught the shield with his bare hands.

Seeing this, Steve's pupils dilated, and he couldn't help but gasp. Few people could block his attack so easily!

Was he also a super-soldier?

Steve vaguely suspected this.

However, before he could think further, Logan swung the shield back in the same manner.

Steve dared not let down his guard and quickly raised his hands to catch it.

The immense force of the shield chilled his blood, leaving his arms numb.

Logan gave him no chance to recover, charging forward again like a hurricane, reaching him instantly.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Iron fists rained down like a storm. Steve raised his shield to block, but the brute force compelled him to retreat.

The shield vibrated violently under the assault, its humming echoing in the night.

Just as Steve was contemplating how to counterattack, a blinding white flash gleamed.

Slash!

Suddenly, an Adamantium claw flashed in the moonlight, striking the Vibranium shield with immense force.

Bang! Sizzle!

The deafening sound of clashing steel resonated.

The extreme speed prevented Steve from seeing what happened.

Before he could react, a sharp pain shot through his abdomen, and stomach acid rose in his throat.

Logan's knee had slammed into Steve's abdomen.

The immense force launched him several meters through the air, smashing him hard against a container, denting it considerably!

"Captain Rogers, until next time."

Logan quickly retracted his claws, made a theatrical gesture of touching his forehead, and turned to flee into the darkness.

Steve, leaning against the dented container, tried to get up and chase him, but the intense pain in his abdomen left him immobile.

Moreover, the three faint claw marks on his Vibranium shield made him completely dismiss any attempt at pursuit. The shield was scratched?
