Chapter 4 - Systems First Reward!>Heaven Rewards Hardwork!

Standing at the mouth of a cave, the elder turned to look at all the trash from the Hun clan.

"From now on, this will be your home. What you eat, how warm you can get, and how fast you can leave this place are all going to depend on your performance." The words from the elder's mouth sounded sweet, but in Su Han's ears, it wasn't.

'Damn! This is an inescapable slave camp!' He saw right through this in the instant the elder spoke these words.

This environment was clearly not a place where they could survive in the long term.

Su Han felt the temperature around this place had become too cold for some reason, and his sight landed on the massive underground entrance.

He could instantly tell the reason.

'It seems that we are going to work inside this pit. Wait! It's far more than just working.' He just seemed to have realized something important.

No tents or temporary housing were present in this place, which only served to show that the miners weren't allowed back on the surface after descending.

His heart raced as he looked around covertly, wondering when the group that was bound to attack was going to make a move.

He lost patience with waiting when nothing happened. His gaze landed on the leather clothes hanging on the side. The clothing was crude, but the moment he laid eyes on them, a vague idea formed in his mind.

The elder who had been talking to them had pulled some rope hanging at the edge of the entrance and remained silent all this time. Su Han had seen all of this, and at this moment, he heard footsteps.

They were coming from the entrance.

'Someone is coming!'

He wasn't the only one who heard it, and thus, attention was shifted to the entrance.

A burly figure with a scar mark at the center of his left eye walked out. He had a straw hat on, making it difficult to see his entire head.

The massive leather clothing he had on was covered with frost, and this was enough to send shivers down his spine.

"Uncle Nine!" The elder actually took the initiative to greet the old man the moment he came up.

From this, Su Han was able to guess at least that the old man was not weak.

He had already grasped some profile of the entire Hun clan.

Those without strength gained no respect. In the case of this elder, those without corresponding strength are referred to as trash.

The fact that he was polite to the old man was already proof of this, and he even had this feeling the moment he called out the words 'uncle nine'. Some resentment was present in that tone.

Though hidden, it couldn't escape his ears.

'Interesting. Very interesting! It appears my previous thoughts were all wrong. This elder is so in on whatever this guy's are planning.'

He looked at the old man being called uncle Nine and suspected he had been schemed against, but had no idea how. All he had to was wait and perhaps he might be able to find out something when the time was right.

It was just that he had this feeling it might not be easy to survive long enough to see this.

While he was complaining inwardly, he heard the old man say something familiar.

"Trash! Why did you visit this place today?"

The voice was hoarse, but he felt an overbearing nature to it.

Most of those who heard these words were startled and looked towards the two elders with expressions of surprise.

"These words sound familiar!" A faint voice sounded among them.

Su Han gave whoever had spoken thumbs-up deep in his heart for their courage to dare say it.

Even though he was thinking it, he kept his mouth shut. It was the right thing to do as someone just collapsed on the ground right before them and didn't move anymore.

Those who wanted to laugh shut up at this moment felt cold all over.

"What are you doing?" The old man dressed in an animal leather jacket and trousers questioned coldly as he looked at the corpse that had just collapsed on the ground.

"Calm down, Ninth Uncle. I was teaching these brats a lesson on your behalf lest they reach the mines and lack awareness, ending up offending you." The elder replied respectfully as he passed something over to the old man. Even though Su Han couldn't see it, he knew it was a bribe.

The words from the elder's mouth, however, allowed Su Han to understand that the pretenses had been thrown from the moment they reached this point.

Their lives clearly were not important, and this was very much clear from the corpse still lying on the ground before him.

Even though Su Han appeared shocked, just like everyone else, and shaking, deep down, he was calm.

'I knew it. This is a demon den. The most important thing for me is to survive as I make my plans.' He was already sure that it was impossible to escape this place now.

More than that, he was also sure that he wasn't the first person to attempt to escape from the cold mines.

'It seems that I can only work honestly as I wait for an opportunity to escape the sea of suffering.' He was silently mocking himself for having such a start.

But he was glad about one thing: he had no concerns.

His remaining family in this world were scumbags.

He wasn't shortsighted in his decision to leave the clan without leveraging his sister's help.

In fact, he had already thought it through and realized this was the fastest way to attain freedom not by being given, but by escaping.

He already had an understanding of the Hun clan by now. From his conclusion, gaining freedom from the Hun clan was a pipe dream.

The only freedom one could gain in this place was probably death.

But he had already began even doubting this the moment he saw the darkness covering the skies of the Hun clan.

Perhaps this place wouldn't even spare the ghost of those that had died. Since that is the case, he never once desired to die in this dump.

"Everyone collect one jacket and trousers and pair of cotton shoes and follow me!" The old man turned his gaze towards the rest of the trash gathered and issued a command.

This time, no one dared to delay, they rushed foward fast.

Situ on the other hand, holding onto the animal jacket looked at the void before him as though dazed.

A ringing sound followed by a panel floated before his eyes.

Ding!

He realized the system Panel was very simple.

'Huh? Just this?' the hope that had risen was completely drowned.

This system was clearly telling him to rely on himself from here on.

He didn't see any hope of leaving this place.

But the Heaven Rewards hardwork was surely not bad considering his situation and he decided to fuse with it when he settled in.
