Aria
"What are you doing here?" I suppressed my fear of Arden's mother and mustered up the courage to face her directly.
I was sure she wouldn't leave without dragging me down with her. I didn't know what Arden had done to make his mother come here and cause trouble for me.
"Aria! Please forgive Arden. No matter what, he is still your husband." Arden's mother quickly grabbed my hand, looking at me with eyes wet with tears.
My body jerked in surprise when I felt Arden's mother's touch, memories of how she tortured me when Arden wasn't home flooding back into my head. Reflexively, I shook off her grip on my hand.
"I am no longer Arden's wife. So whatever happens to him is no longer my concern," I said, looking away, not daring to look Arden's mother directly in the eye.
"You!" Arden's mother hissed sharply at me, her voice not loud but clear enough for me to hear.
Without realizing it, I took a step back, afraid she would suddenly swing her hand to hit me again.
