I woke up, did some calisthenics and some Judo stances and washed up with a bucket and some water, I warmed on the hearth. The village was cleaner now, I had some sheep and pigs in the long house where it was warm, I had fixed the longhouse no holes to squeeze into for the mice and no gaps for the wind to creep. The animal smell was strong but manageable, me and the corpses would clean systematically.
I sat down on a bench close to the hearth eating my potatoes with salt soup, I'd soon need to replace some village supplies. The corpses didn't rest but they'd freeze in the night if they continued to work, which means I'd have to place them by the fire for an hour or two before their movements got back to normal.
The long house seemed empty with just me and the animals and corpses. The animals didn't like the corpses much. I started thinking of the future, should I draw up a plan of the village how should I shape it? Should I build a castle, how long do my corpses last, what do I do if people come and see dead people working...
No matter, one thing at a time. There's wolves and all sorts in the woods... I started drawing with some chalk on paper the future village and perimeter defenses and running some possible scenarios... For wolves I'll put some sharpened sticks in a trench, well the corpses would be the ones I guess working... Wonder how far I'll get with that they aren't very detail oriented. There'll be a large wooden fence and then the trench with the sharp sticks.
People... I'll just say I'm alone here... Or maybe, I'll make them wear large clothes, that hide their dead flesh... Giving people the appearance of a "normal" village.
I've started noticing the drop in death mana in the village... It started when I started cleaning the rat droppings, I guess the presence of the plague creates a death variable and it increases my source of magic... That's a problem, if I cultivated the illness no one except me can survive in the village...
I know where the last of the afflicted rat nests are... I can't just contaminate everything, what happens when I have company... I'm only human afterall, well earthling anywhere not sure about this place.
Without my magic I'm vulnerable and I don't know how the animated corpses behave in a fight and how strong are the mana users in this world... Maybe I close down the village make it a no go zone, I'll have to infest this place. If people find me they'll think I killed everyone here and made them zombies...
