After busying myself for a few hours, I heard the knob of the main door turning.
Of course, it is him, my husband.
He came in like a CEO straight out of a drama, with his coat and tie. But he has no bag or files at hand. Michael came after, holding the bag.
Indeed, just like the CEOs in the dramas I've watched.
"I just finished preparing the table. Want some coffee?" I asked.
"..."
"I suppose that's a yes. How about you, Michael? Are you eating here? Or do you want some coffee?"
"I'm going back," he replied after putting down the bag.
"Suit yourself," I answered before going back inside the kitchen to prepare the coffee.
When I stepped out again, Michael was no longer there, and Kieran was already seated at the table. His coat, tie, and bag were lying quietly on the sofa.
The sleeve of his white shirt was already pulled up.
It doesn't seem like he has any particular conditions when living with someone, looking at his attitude, so I suppose I wouldn't need to watch out for him having any particular needs.
I served him coffee before sitting opposite him, then I started eating while glancing at him.
I lived abroad for two years and saw plenty of handsome faces, but none caught my attention like this one.
Now I suppose it wasn't that I was uninterested because of my own looks, but because I am quite attracted to the cold-looking handsome one.
He eats very elegantly without losing that cold aura, looking like he was eating just to satisfy what the human body needs.
He looked up at me, must have felt the way I kept glancing at him.
I smiled, "I never really looked at you properly since we met. You're handsome. No wonder people threw themselves at you, despite your coldness."
"..."
"I appreciate beauty. I have nothing better to do than eat, so why not look?"
He stopped bothering with me and continued eating.
I'm not sure if he liked what I cooked, but he did try everything and ate a lot. It doesn't seem like there is a dish that he did not like.
"By the way, I brought your suitcase up and left space in the wardrobe for your things. I did not open it because obviously I might lose my hand, so you can unpack on your own."
"..."
"Or did you want me to fix it for you?"
He frowned.
"I suppose not. Don't worry, I'm not trying to act like the wife I should be. I am simply interacting with you as your partner."
"..."
"As you know, we do not know almost anything about one another before this cooperation, so for the first days, I will have to understand you a little. I have no plans of crossing your line."
"..."
"Anyway, my room is the first door on the right after the stairs. You can go up and rest if you want. I still have a few things to do here," I finally said when I saw him finish his coffee.
"And the study is free for you to use. It is that door," I said, pointing at the door on the left side.
"I have also cleaned that place up. So you can set up your things anytime you want," I said while fixing the dishes.
Without a word, he grabbed his things and went up while I did some cleaning.
...
"..."
When I went up, I found him looking at the door beside mine. I know he can tell with the direction of the wires from my room that this room is the room for my operations.
"Are you curious?" I asked, approaching him.
He looked at me.
I can tell he is curious. What kind of operation am I planning? How will I execute it? And how far have I gone in my investigations?
I chuckled, "Let me show you."
I opened the door and switched on the lights.
The room has tables lined up on one side, while the other side is a plain white wall with pictures and small notes pasted on it.
The tables have about three computers on them. One for the security of this house. And the other two are for my research.
"As you can see, these are the people Riven investigated. I added a few names in the last few days, but many are still not here. Oh, I still have the ones from the stupid principal. I have not placed those yet."
Kieran looked at each picture that was already up on the wall. His eyes lingered on the one at the center of it all.
"The deeper I dig, the more it becomes certain that these people are the ones behind everything. And this person is the one in the center of it all. Has he not made any move towards your family?" I asked him.
I watched the coldness within his eyes intensify. It seems that they tried to get the Sinclair Family entangled for their desire for more power.
But because the Sinclair Empire was different from the Kingsley Corporation, they did not fall.
He looked at me for a good few seconds.
"Are you asking me why I am willing to show this to you? That you can betray me anytime?" I tried understanding the look he was giving.
"..."
I smiled, "You are so bored with everything that you wouldn't betray someone who can give you entertainment. I can tell that much. I told you, right? I'd let you watch from the front row seat. Watch as I complete this web of people."
I looked back at the wall, "And once this is complete, all the prey will slowly get entangled in this web and fall to their demise."
