Chapter 20 - Moving out

Scene setting

2-bedroom apartment, Brooklyn

3:15 PM

The apartment that once held chaotic mornings, Jane's wine and novel readings, and Faith's tantrums when Bobbi tried the authority talk. The familiar smell of stale coffee, finally dried out, the tiles that suffered boots, heels, and occasionally wine spills could finally rest until a new tenant moved in. And the couch moulded from each tussle, nap, and Faith jumping on it like a trampoline would be thrown out to whoever wanted its history.

Bobbi felt the most nostalgic, neatly packing her clothes in a duffel bag, no need for boxes as most of her clothing was copied and pasted.

'Never thought I'd see the day I'd leave this place without getting evicted. ' she thought to herself. Her eyes moved to the portraits of her late parents, hesitantly reaching for one."I miss you guys..."

"Bobbi, Bo won't let me pack the leftovers!" Jane whined.

"Jane, it's been in the fridge for weeks." He bluntly said.

"We don't waste fast, Bo."

"You literally throw away tomato slices from your food."

"That's not the same! You know I'm a picky eater." She huffed, carrying her boxes to the door.

Faith was in her own world, sitting on a box by the kitchen, music audible from her headphones. Clutching her sketchbook as she waited for Bo to load everything in the SUV. "Why didn't we hire a moving company?"

"'Cause I have a better solution," he replied, pulling out his phone." Fergy, are you here yet?"

"Beep, beep." A car honked right after he asked the question.

They looked outside and saw a truck. Fergy was wearing a plain black tee, tight jeans, leather boots, and a fitted cap with a salmon logo.

"That's Fergy?" Faith questioned.

"The one and only."

Fergy had an interesting dynamic with Bo. He was very talkative, showed off his groomed moustache, and definitely smelled like kush, and most of all, he was a workhorse. Carried four boxes at a time, nearly got stabbed for touching Bobbi's bag, a mistake he'll never repeat. Jane and he hit it off about their love for hating on the Yankees. Way too much, Jeter slander.

"Fergy, how'd you expect to move all this stuff without a permit?" Jane asked with amusement.

"Jane, it's New York. Where does a will? There's a way." He cheekily responded.

"I like you already. "

"Can you two idiots get back to moving?" Bobbi snapped, a vein visible on her head.

The duo looked at her before cackling like Hyenas, continuing with their banter.

"Seriously, why is she like this?" Bobbi uttered to herself, scratching her neck.

"Hey...calm down... I'm here." Bo soothed, pulling her into a hug. "It's ok, Bobbi, just take a breath."

Her ragged breathing was steadying, letting his warmth anchor down."T-thanks Bo..."

"Uhhh–Bobbi? Are you guys... moving out?" A voice called.

Standing at the open door was Todd, stained shirt and holding his chubby cat.

"Todd..." she voiced with clear annoyance.

"Haven't seen you guys in a while...thought you ran off or something. " he rubbed his neck nervously.

"Hi, Todd." Faith greeted, moving over to Bo and Bobbi, pulling at his jacket, "Can we go now?" She asked,side-eying her neighbour.

"Hey–why is everyone giving me that look?"

"Well–"

"Oh–is that Todd?" Jane teased

"Who's the dude with the round cat ?" Fergy asked.

"Whiskers isn't round! He's...well fed." Todd justified.

"Sure~he also smells like cheese and can barely chase the mice in the halls."

"Hah–I've seen rats his size, deffo Garfield's reincarnation. "

"Good one Ferg's." Jane chuckled.

"I know right?"

Todd just stood there taking the insults like a good boy, after a few minutes Bo spared him from the bullying and scooped Jane up.

"Nooo! Bo, let me go." She squirmed in his hold, legs kicking aimlessly. "You can't embarrass me in public Bo!" She shrieked, her blush blooming from her struggle.

"Fergy let's go."

"On it boss!" He saluted." See ya Todd." He snickered.

Bo kept moving with Jane over his shoulder, accepting her fate. Bobbi was on his right, holding his waist, hiding under his grey hoodie. Faith was a few steps in front of them, skipping happily, yapping about room decorations and hot showers.

Todd watched in awe at them." What a weird bunch."
