"Yo~~! Long time no see. Looks like you've been living quite comfortably, huh, Frieza?"
Inside Frieza's massive spaceship, Beerus spoke lazily, one hand digging idly in his ear as he watched the self-proclaimed emperor of the universe put on airs in his gilded command chair. His tone was casual—mocking, almost playful—but the weight behind it was unmistakable.
The moment that familiar voice echoed through the chamber, Frieza's smile froze.Every single being in the control room turned around in shock.
Terror swept through the room like a tidal wave. Who could talk to Lord Frieza like that—and still be alive? Whoever it was, just standing there so casually meant they were far beyond anything these soldiers could comprehend.
And Frieza? The instant his eyes fell upon Beerus and the ever-calm Whis standing beside him, his pupils shrank to pinpricks. A jolt of primal fear stabbed through his chest, dragging with it memories he'd buried long ago.
Then, in an act that shattered every onlooker's understanding of reality—Frieza jumped down from his throne, dropped to his knees, and bowed low before Beerus.
The soldiers around him could only stare, dumbstruck.
This was Frieza. The tyrant who ruled the stars, who could snuff out worlds with a gesture. And here he was, kneeling like a trembling servant.
"Lord Beerus, please—please forgive my failure to welcome you properly," Frieza stammered, his forehead nearly touching the floor. His voice shook as sweat streamed down his face in thick drops.
He had no idea how Beerus had even appeared here. No alarms, no energy readings—nothing. He had simply been there. But that didn't matter. The fear of a God of Destruction had been branded into Frieza's very soul from their first encounter. Just one look from Beerus had once nearly killed him, and that memory had never faded.
Beerus said nothing. Hands clasped behind his back, he strolled lazily through the spaceship, the silence stretching unbearably thin. Frieza's anxiety only deepened—what was Beerus here for? What did he want?
Trying to ease the suffocating tension, Frieza darted a look at his still-frozen subordinates. He didn't have to say a word. One sharp glare from him, and they all understood.
Two of his elite guards immediately dropped to their knees."Greetings, Lord Beerus!" they cried in unison.
Of course. You didn't rise to the rank of Frieza's elite without brains to match your power.Seeing them kneel, the rest of the crew hastily followed suit.
Beerus glanced around and smirked. "Not bad, Frieza. You've picked yourself some decent lackeys."
His tone was playful, but the oppressive weight behind his words pressed down on everyone's shoulders like a mountain.
Forcing down his fear, Frieza swallowed hard, then lifted his head slightly. "Y-you flatter me, Lord Beerus. To what do I owe this honor? Whatever you require, please, just give the word."
Beerus stopped in front of him. Whis, as always, stood quietly to the side, serene and detached.
"I've heard," Beerus began, voice light but laced with a faint edge, "that you've gotten rather full of yourself lately. Calling yourself the Emperor of the Universe, are we?"
He clicked his tongue. "Still, you're clever enough to make use of my name to boost your own reputation. Annoying, yes—but I'll admit, it worked out well enough. You've got the right temperament for a temporary stand-in."
Frieza's eyes widened. "A... stand-in?"
Beerus continued, ignoring his surprise."I'm about to go into another long sleep, and someone needs to handle a bit of destruction while I'm out. There are still plenty of planets that need erasing. You understand what I'm saying, don't you?"
The words hit Frieza like a divine revelation. For a moment, his fear evaporated—replaced by exhilaration. His crimson eyes gleamed with barely restrained excitement.
So that was it! He'd thought Beerus came to punish him for using his name—but no! This was authorization! Permission straight from the God of Destruction himself!
A temporary agent of Beerus. For as long as Beerus slept, he would be the acting God of Destruction!
The idea sent a shiver of ecstasy through him.The God of Destruction—supreme among all beings! Even the mightiest warriors in the universe were ants before such power. And now Frieza had been chosen.
This wasn't just permission to rule.It was divine sanction to destroy.
"Lord Beerus, I'm... I'm deeply honored! To earn your trust—rest assured, during your slumber, I will not disappoint you!"
His voice trembled, not from fear this time, but from excitement barely kept in check.
Beerus nodded approvingly. "Good. I like that attitude. But let me be clear—don't abuse this authority. If I wake up and find you've gotten carried away... I'll erase you myself."
His narrowed eyes glowed faintly, and the temperature in the room seemed to plummet.
Frieza bowed even lower. "Understood! You have my word, Lord Beerus. When you awaken, you'll see a universe far more pleasing to your taste!"
Flattery, humility, obedience—he laid it on thick.Inside, though, his ambition burned hotter than ever. This was his chance to dominate everything.
Beerus didn't care what schemes swirled behind those eyes. As long as Frieza didn't destroy too much, the details didn't matter.
"Oh, right," Beerus said suddenly, changing the subject. "I've heard you've been digging into that old Saiyan legend lately... what was it called again? Ah—Super Saiyan, wasn't it? Planning something with them?"
The abrupt shift made Frieza's heart skip a beat.A cold shiver ran up his spine.
So even that was known to Beerus. Hardly anyone in his ranks knew of his plans for the Saiyans, yet Beerus spoke of it like it was common gossip.
Is this a warning? Frieza dared not even blink.
"Yes, Lord Beerus," he finally managed. "May I ask... what would you have me do about the Saiyans?"
He needed to know Beerus's stance. If Beerus wanted them spared, then Frieza would hold back, no matter how much he hated it.But if Beerus wanted them gone...
Beerus's expression darkened, his voice calm and dismissive."I visited Planet Vegeta not long ago. Saw those Saiyans for myself—so-called warriors, hah. Just a bunch of muscle-headed idiots. No power worth mentioning, no refined taste... a race like that existing is just embarrassing."
He looked down at Frieza, eyes glinting with cold, violet light."So go ahead. The Saiyan race has no reason to exist. Wipe them out. And that miserable Planet Vegeta... destroy it too."
"..."
