Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: When did it fall?

"I...," The young man wanted to cry but no tears came out of his eyes. He had just threatened Lancer using his father's name?

If his father found out about it, then even if Lancer didn't do anything to him, his father was definitely going to break his legs.

His father wasn't just a Floor Lord. He was also an S-Rank Hero in the upper leagues of the Guild, but compared to Lancer, his father's ranking was much lower.

Even amongst the S Rankers, there was a large gap from one person to another depending on their abilities. Lancer was one such anomaly whose abilities made him stand out amongst the Rankers.

"Lord Lancer, he is Lord Grayson's child. Since he made a mistake, I would like to apologize to him. Can you give me some face and let him go?" The woman, while trembling, approached Lancer.

Talia wanted to save Estefan at any cost, so she could at least protect herself from Grayson's wrath. She truly felt like she was caught between two heroes. No matter who she offended, she was in trouble.

"Grayson?" Lancer raised a brow.

When Estefan claimed that his father was a Floor Lord, he didn't know or care who he was talking about. There was a Floor Lord on each floor of the Tower, and the tower itself had close to a thousand floors after all.

It was impossible to guess which Floor Lord this child was talking about. He didn't care either. But now that he heard a name, he could finally put a face to the person being mentioned.

"I remember seeing him in the last meeting. You are his child?" he asked Estefan who was still on his knees.

"Y-yes. He is my father." Estefan's face gained a little color. While responding, he was a lot more respectful to Lancer after knowing his identity as well.

"I see." The corner of Lancer's lips crept up. "Then tell me, child. Am I stronger than your father?"

"What?"

"I asked, if I'm stronger or your father?"

Estefan gulped heavily and answered, "Y-you."

"If I was to fight your father, how long do you think he can survive?"

"..." Estefan was at a loss of words. Why was Lancer talking like that? He had a really bad feeling about this.

'Don't tell me that he wants to kill my father because of my disrespect?' The face that had barely regained some color went pale again.

"Let me change the question. How long do you think your father will survive if he faces Blaze?" Lancer changed his question.

This time, Estefan didn't even have the courage to imagine. His father might be able to last a few minutes when facing Lancer. But against Blaze?

Let alone his father, but even if the top ten heroes of the Guild were to face Blaze together, there was only one outcome... Complete Annihilation!

"What do you think your father will do if he finds out that you tried to kill someone that Blaze is indebted to?" Lancer released Estefan's shoulder and walked past him in no hurry.

Estefan raised his head. The words felt like a hammer striking his head. He tried to kill someone that Blaze was indebted to...? Was he talking about himself?

'No, he can't be talking about himself. I never tried to kill him after all. I only threatened him with my father's name. The only person I tried to kill is...'

He looked at Leo, his pupils trembling in disbelief.

"Impossible!" He yelled abruptly. "How could Lord Blaze be indebted to a mere no-name intern?"

"Oh? Did he not introduce himself?" Lancer burst into laughter. "Now it's making more sense. I was wondering what gave you such courage to raise your hands against him..."

He walked closer to Leo, and extended his hand. "It seems you are more evil than I thought. Was this all part of your plan?"

'Plan? What plan is he talking about? Just what is going on here?' Leo felt like Lancer was misunderstanding something, but he just couldn't understand what it was.

"It seems I have interfered with your amusement." Lancer asked. "I'm afraid you didn't need my help. You probably could've killed him yourself, right?"

Leo frowned at the statement. 'Is your head even in the right place? You think I could've killed him? If anything, you saved my ass. But there's no way I can say that, can I? It would make me look weak, which would make it harder to survive in this place.'

Leo placed his hand in his pocket, and brought out a handkerchief to clean his hands. His wrist was still hurting, but he didn't show it on his face.

He looked no different than a prince who wanted to be untouched by this world's dirt as he continued, "I just didn't want to get my hands dirty..."

Leo was talking with Lancer, unaware that something had fallen out of his pocket.

When he pulled out the handkerchief, his key card came out as well, falling on the ground. The sight of a beautiful key card falling on the ground wasn't hidden from the others.

"T-this..." The biggest shock was received by Talia, who had flexed her authority before Leo. But when she saw his card, she felt like a clown.

She was flexing her small house before a person that owned a mansion? Leo's keycard was clearly that of a Floor Lord.

No, even amongst the Floor Lords, there were differences. For example, floors in the 700s where she belonged, were in the lower upper tier.

Leo's card was only given to those in the 900s, and then darker the color, the closer to the 1000 it was. Leo's card was almost the darkest that she had ever seen.

Talia dropped on her knees in disbelief. She thought that Estefan had made a mistake, but was her mistake any less? She had actually used a Floor Lord against Estefan?

"Ah, when did it fall?" It took Leo a moment to notice his card on the floor. However, when he was about to pick it up, Talia rushed forward like a servant and picked his card with trembling hands.

Leo took the card from her hand, and observed her reaction. The woman that hadn't intervened, was trying to help him now that she saw Lancer?

"Oh, you were also here? I thought you had already left when a certain someone started picking a fight," Leo sarcastically asked.
