Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Framed; Villain Beyond Redemption

'So I was right. They found out...'

Leo had expected something like this. He had mentally prepared himself on the way here, but it still made his heart skip a beat.

They brought him here, in a separate realm. Even if he was killed here, no one was going to know.

'They won't go this far, right?'

He maintained a calm exterior, even though his heartbeat was growing faster.

"Did you really think that we wouldn't find out your lies? How shameless can you be, to demand such exorbitant conditions from the Guild over such a simple recipe?"

The young man had taken the lead, since he was the one who came up with the evidence of Leo's lies.

"How dare you call lemon water as elixir? You deserve death by a thousand cuts to try to scam us with your lies!"

The young alchemist was just short of grabbing Leo by his collars. His face was brimming with anger, but deep down, he was relishing the fact that he was the main lead of this event.

At this moment, not only were the other alchemists, but thousands of Heroes in the Colosseum were paying attention to him. That's why, his chest puffed up even more.

Meanwhile, Leo was simply staring at the young man in disbelief. 'When did I lie to anyone? You were the ones who misunderstood everything, when I simply sent you free samples!'

Unfortunately, he couldn't say that out loud. Wasn't saying this no different than calling the Hero Guild stupid? Wouldn't that upset them even more?

For more, he chose the strategy of playing dumb. "I have no idea what you are talking about."

"You still don't accept your wrongs?!" The young man shoved the file at Leo's face.

Fortunately, Leo reacted fast and caught the file before it could hit him. It further helped that the young alchemist, albeit arrogant, wasn't strong.

Leo opened the file and started going through the lab analysis report. It listed the composition of his elixirs to the point that even the number of drops in the water were accurate.

Frowning, he turned to Kayla in the distance. Didn't the guild promise that they weren't going to reverse engineer his elixir? That was the only thing that had convinced Leo that he might be safe in the guild.

"You tried to reverse engineer my elixir?" Leo's voice became colder.

"You still call that thing an elixir like it was some unique recipe that you came up with?!" The young alchemist scoffed at Leo's words.

"It's fine! I knew that you wouldn't accept the truth so easily. That's why I invited all the distinguished guests here to show everyone the truth!"

He clapped twice, and his subordinate brought a table forward. The table was covered by a clean white sheet. On top, there was a bottle filled with fresh water. And next to it, there was an ordinary lemon.

"Today, I will prove to everyone that the Elixir that can heal mana overload is nothing extraordinary! It was just a simple recipe that had existed for centuries."

"Even I was working on this recipe, but before I could put forth my results, I heard about Leo's elixirs!"

He clapped once more, and two assistants came forward, dragging a man on his knees. The old man's face was filled with tears as if he was regretting something.

"Now go ahead and tell me that you don't recognise him?" The young alchemist smirked.

Leo looked at the old man on his knees seriously, but he seriously didn't recognise him. He had really never seen this person in his life.

"Who is he?" He genuinely asked in confusion.

"You bastard, how dare you refuse to recognise me?! Didn't we meet a few weeks ago when we were drinking together? While drunk, I accidentally blurted out about Master Anker's research!"

The old man roared in rage, his voice echoing across the colosseum.

"I never knew you would steal what I said, and use it to pretend to be a genius alchemist that solved a centuries old problem! I never should've treated you like a friend. I'm ashamed of you!"

His words made many heroes look at Leo differently. Not only did Leo pretend that the simple recipe was some miraculous elixir that used rare and expensive ingredients, but he didn't even come with the recipe himself?

An alchemist of the Hero Tower came up with the recipe and Leo stole it? This man was truly playing with the Hero Tower. He was truly a villain that was beyond redemption.

Even the middle aged man who was sitting at the forefront, even ahead of the top ten heroes, shook his head in disappointment.

"Is this for real?" Leo looked at the looks of disappointment, disgust and even anger around him. Even Kayla had turned her face away from him, a far cry from the woman that treated him with the same respect as a top hero previously.

"So this is how the Guild wants to take credit for it?" Leo didn't even pay attention to the young alchemist that had taken charge against him.

He was being framed by the Guild for crimes that were beyond a simple misunderstanding. It felt more like the higher ups of the Guild were using the young man to deal with him.

His gaze rested on the middle aged man at the first seat in the colosseum. "Is this the scheme that the Guild Master came up with?"

The middle aged man raised a brow. It wasn't because the man had recognized his identity, but because he was directly confronting him?

"How dare you talk to the Guild Master in this manner?" Anker stepped forward with long strides, puffing up his chest even more.

He finally grabbed Leo by his collar. "Instead of begging for forgiveness, you are acting like you're the victim?! You are truly beyond redemption!"

He looked at the Guild Master and his gaze softened, "Lord, should we proceed with the execution of this liar?!"
