Aurora's POV
I wrapped my hands around my chest as I watched him walk closer to the cupboard, and I covered my mouth to stop him from bursting out laughing.
He forcefully opened the cupboard and almost raised his hands to hit me when I screamed.
"No! no! It's me." I burst into laughter.
"Aurora? why…why.." He stuttered.
"I'm so sorry; I'm just liking the expression on your face right now," I said, teasing him.
"This isn't funny, Aurora. You got me worried sick, and you think it's a joke? We are in the middle of nowhere, and you're playing such pranks."
"I'm sorry." I giggled. "I didn't mean to get you angry."
He didn't respond to that, as he grabbed my hands and pulled me to walk with him.
"Where are we going?" I asked him immediately, and we walked out of the hut.
"I have no idea," he replied bluntly.
"But we can spend the night here; we can.
"Don't even complete that statement! I can't spend or watch you spend the night here! okay? I don't know if all those I saw were yours or not." His voice oozed anger.
"It's my fault; I did all of it." I began to cry.
He let out a deep sigh while letting go of my hands. "You know all of that wasn't necessary," he said in a calm tone.
"I'm sorry." I apologized.
"Promise me that you'll never repeat such a thing ever again."
"I won't, I promise." I smiled.
We made out a space to sleep. The whole place had fallen dark, but with the help of our eyes, we could search for some fire sticks to keep us warm.
He didn't utter a word to me after the previous conversation until he slept off. I smiled at his beauty after I noticed he was asleep as my thoughts began to wander.
I couldn't imagine how lucky I've been since he saved me. I wouldn't have believed it if someone told me that I was ever going to be free from Alfred and Iza.
I wouldn't have imagined, either, that my heart would ever reopen and fall again. It was past midnight when I began to hear distant noises.
I paused for a second with my ears alert but heard nothing as I continued with my thoughts. The sounds came again, this time loud and close. I felt my heart pump out of my chest because it felt like something was with us in the same room.
I paused again, this time observant, when I felt something walk past where we lay. I slowly dimmed my eyes because I knew that they were glowing at that moment.
I saw a tall and masculine creature stand before us. I wasn't sure what it was—if it was an animal or something. My heartbeat increased as sweat began to drip off my skin.
"What was it? Was it the witch goddess?" I thought.
I tried to move my hands to Alzred, but it felt like he was too far from my reach. I wish I had listened to him; if not, we wouldn't have been here.
I moved my hands this time faster, trying to tap him, but ended up tapping the bare ground.
"Azreal, Azreal!" I whispered, my voice already filled with fear.
"Is she the one?" I heard the tall creature ask one of them.
"Yes, master, she is the one," one of them responded.
"Get her!" The creature's voice oozed authority.
"No! Don't come any closer! No! Please go away!'' I screamed at the top of my voice.
I began to fight with the creature, screaming too, when I felt something shaking me off.
"Aurora! Aurora! Are you okay?" It was Alzred's voice.
I jumped to my feet, panting. I looked around and saw nothing except Alzred, who was anstonished, looking at me.
"Something was here! I saw it! It had its eyes on us! It
"Calm down; be calm, Aurora. You must have had a bad dream."
"No, Alzred, it wasn't a dream, and I'm sure of it. It was so real; it stood here," I said, pointing in the direction. "You've got to listen to me; it was here; I saw it.
"Aurora, nothing was here. You were screaming in your sleep, and I woke you up. It's obvious that you had a dream, or perhaps your imagination."
"We need to leave here," I said, getting to my feet. "We've got to go."
"I'm sorry, but we can't." He answered bluntly as he laid back to sleep.
"Why? I just told you what happened, and all you could say is this."
"I hope you can recall when you initiated the thought of sleeping here."
"Yes, I do, but..."
"But nothing, Aurora! You don't expect us to start walking by this time in the middle of nowhere. Well, you've got to deal with whatever you're facing till daybreak." He bluntly said,.
"No, please," I cried. "I can't spend a moment; he will get me."
"who?"
"Alfred. He sent them; I think he's looking for me, and he's ready to go through dark powers just to get me."
"Come here," he said in the softest voice.
I moved close to him as he wrapped his hands around me. I felt warmth and comfort in them. I've always felt safe with him, and I feel even safer in those arms.
"I promised to protect you, and I want you to grant me that chance. No matter what your friend does, he won't get to you, okay?"
"He's not my friend," I corrected him.
"He was once and even more than a friend." He scoffed.
I pulled out of his grip at the sound of that. Apart from being sweet, he was the most nonchalant person I've known.
"Don't try to act like a big girl; come here." He teased me, pulling me back to himself. "I'm sorry if I said anything to hurt you," he said while I smiled.
