Kai drove like a man possessed.
I gripped the door handle as he weaved through traffic, phone pressed to his ear, trying to reach Margaret. The call kept going to voicemail.
"She's not answering," he said, his knuckles white on the steering wheel. "Why isn't she answering?"
"Maybe she's in a meeting," I tried, but even I didn't believe it. "Kai, slow down. We can't help Maya if we crash."
He didn't slow down.
I called Detective Park, putting him on speaker. "We're on our way to Maya's school. Someone posted a photo of her with a threat"
"I saw it. I'm already dispatching units to the school." Detective Park's voice was tense. "Don't do anything stupid, Kai. Let us handle this."
"That's my sister," Kai said, his voice raw. "I'm not waiting."
"Kai"
He hung up and pressed the accelerator harder.
