Chapter 22 - The Chosen One

Kiana Kaslana conquered Europe with ease—the problem was how to control it.

Her current number of zombies and Honkai Beasts was far from enough to control all of Europe. Moreover, there was the issue of selecting those who would govern.

If a god powerful enough to crush an entire nation was still willing to become a king, that god would truly be a benevolent one—with concern for the people in their heart!

Human beings were weak as individuals, which was why they needed power. But beings like Kiana Kaslana—strong beyond comprehension—belonged to the type that granted power to others and made the rules.

Others could handle the affairs and bear the responsibility.

She only needed to enjoy herself—becoming a god who was worshipped and adored.

Personally managing a country? That was absurd!

Looking for trouble when there was none.

If something happened and she wanted to intervene, she could simply do so—who would dare object?

Power was the foundation of all things.

When she reached Paris, Kiana Kaslana did not enter.

It was too filthy!

One of the largest cities in Europe, with a population of over one hundred thousand, yet without a proper sewage system. People were accustomed to dumping their chamber pots straight out the window.

The streets were covered with the stench of human waste.

Walking on the roads gave one the very real feeling of stepping on excrement.

Better to stay outside!

Any intelligent person should understand what aerial bombardment from Seraph-class Honkai Beasts meant.

Upon hearing that their thirty-thousand-strong army had been utterly defeated in one strike, suffering catastrophic losses—

Uprisings began to break out everywhere.

Countless commoners dissatisfied with their rulers responded to the call, joining the ranks of rebellion.

Kiana Kaslana simply watched them fight among themselves, occasionally sending a Seraph-class Honkai Beast to drop a wave of bombs.

Two thousand zombies were stationed just outside Paris, without even needing to make camp.

When news of the Crusader Alliance's defeat spread, chaos engulfed all of Europe. Waves of people arrived one after another to join her cause.

Among them were even nobles, bringing with them chests of gold and silver.

"These things are useless to Me. You may use them," Kiana Kaslana said.

Floating cross-legged in midair, she looked down at the boxes of coins being carried before her with clear disdain.

If one possessed infinite wealth, would they care about a few coins lying on the ground?

Even looking at them was unnecessary—holding them would only dirty her hands.

Among the crowd, a beautiful young girl caught Kiana Kaslana's eye. Judging by her clothes, she was clearly a noble, with several knights following behind her.

"You. Come here."

Kiana pointed at the girl.

The girl looked around, then pointed at herself in confusion.

"Yes, you," Kiana said, crooking her finger.

"Miss Westminster, the Angel is calling you," one of the knights whispered beside her.

Realizing it, Westminster quickly hurried toward Kiana Kaslana.

Along the way, she almost tripped over her own feet and nearly fell flat—but managed to steady herself at the last moment.

With her head lowered, Westminster curtsied before Kiana Kaslana. "Lord Angel, did you call for me?"

"..."

Suddenly, Kiana Kaslana felt less inclined to speak with her.

This one was a bit slow!

She had wanted to find a pretty noble girl to handle governance in Gaul and other troublesome matters on her behalf.

In this era, commoner girls didn't have the education noble ladies did.

"God has seen the sins of the mortal world running rampant. It is all because humanity has fallen. In the future, divine power and authority shall be granted only to women who are beautiful, intelligent, pure, faithful, and capable. They shall become my companions," Kiana Kaslana declared.

"You possess the potential—but you must first undergo a period of testing."

"Pass the test, and you shall become a messenger of God, receive divine power, and become my companion."

The crowd of believers and spies nearby silently took note of her every word.

Westminster bowed her head, listening intently to Kiana Kaslana's proclamation.

Everyone understood what she meant.

The rulers of the past had always been men—but in the future, God would grant power to women. Among them, the beautiful, intelligent, pure, faithful, and capable would be chosen. After passing the Angel's trials, they would become divine messengers, receive divine power, and become the Angel's companions.

"Here are three thousand soldiers I created. You may take them to claim your territory—this shall be your trial."

To prevent her chosen candidate from dying meaninglessly, Kiana Kaslana slowly raised her hand. From her fingertip shot a streak of violet light.

The light struck Westminster, quickly expanding to envelop her entire body. On the back of the girl's hand appeared a crimson sigil—a Stigmata from the Honkai world.

Kiana Kaslana had imitated, modified, and integrated the Stigmata system with her own analysis of this world's powers—creating a new type of Stigmata.

It allowed ordinary humans, through their own willpower, to gradually adapt to the power of Honkai, awaken a reality-distortion field, and gain special abilities.

"This is a Stigmata—the mark of the Chosen. It is personally bestowed by God or me. It can grant even an unqualified human a fragment of my power."

"If you have any needs, seek Incarnation."

With those words, Kiana Kaslana opened subspace and departed, leaving behind two thousand zombies and one thousand Honkai Beasts for her.

As long as they didn't turn their weapons against her, she didn't care what they did.

Europe was full of countless kingdoms, empires, duchies, and dynasties.

She might as well let them play among themselves!

This was a Stigmata.

Westminster looked at the red pattern glowing on her hand.

She raised her head and gazed at the Seraph-class Honkai Beasts soaring above. She could feel a faint connection forming between herself and them.

Soon, news of this spread throughout Europe.

Especially after witnessing Zofia—the one who could chase and slay tens of thousands alone—the world was struck with terror.

They finally understood the power of the divine messengers.

How could one even fight against that?

No matter how high the city walls stood, they could soar over them in an instant. With a single strike, they could massacre countless soldiers. Any who dared approach were burned or incinerated before they could even reach her.

One by one, the nations began to surrender unconditionally.

Even if the rulers wanted to fight, the commoners refused to follow—and many even rebelled against them. Against the divine messengers' overwhelming might, no one could see any hope of victory.

This time, the Angel was a true Angel.

She had no interest in money, power, or land.

Unlike the Crusader Church, she did not use deceit to extort wealth.

Iron Maiden, Mary, Elizabeth, Rvy, Zofia, Westminster, and others were recognized as the Chosen.

As the Era of the Chosen approached, the old noble houses—fearing retribution—scrambled to align themselves with and support one of the Chosen.

Of course, even without such backing, the Chosen would still rise.

To each of them, Kiana Kaslana granted a Stigmata and continually distributed zombies and Honkai Beasts.

This ensured they would not become powerless puppets under anyone's control.

Kiana Kaslana simply watched as they spread across the lands, seizing territory in the name of the Chosen.

Those who refused or resisted—were all annihilated.

Now, divine right was made manifest.

As long as everyone was drawn into the new order she had established, her goal would be achieved.

The next step was to ensure that all would adapt to—and obey—the new rules.

The passage between the two universes grew increasingly stable.

Kiana Kaslana began transferring the knowledge and technology of the Honkai world into this one, accelerating its civilization's progress.

The ancient and medieval eras were far too crude.

At the very least, she intended to bring it up to a modern level.

Under normal circumstances, this world would require more than four hundred years to develop to modern standards.

But with Kiana Kaslana copying directly from the Current Era—and cheating through Honkai energy—that time could be shortened to within ten years.
