[Minato Namikaze]: "Ah… as expected, something unexpected's about to happen."
[Kushina Uzumaki]: "Why… why does it have to turn out like this?"
Kushina's lips trembled as she stared up at the screen, anxiety clouding her expression.
Among the three students, she'd always had a soft spot for Obito—that goofy smile, that relentless optimism.
And now, she had to watch, powerless, as the boy she adored walked toward tragedy.
It was like standing outside a nightmare she couldn't stop.
Lightning Flash on the Battlefield
The trio was ambushed by Iwagakure ninjas.
Kakashi, determined to prove himself as team leader, decided to use his new jutsu—
Raikiri!
Lightning crackled between his palms, blindingly bright.
His body vanished in a flash of blue—
and in an instant, several Iwa-nin were down.
But that technique came with a fatal flaw:
The speed was too high—his eyes couldn't track fast enough.
One misstep, and the user would be impaled before realizing it.
If only he had the Sharingan, the move would be perfect.
A blade nearly cleaved him in half—
but before it could, a yellow streak sliced across the battlefield.
Minato appeared, saving Kakashi in a burst of thunder light.
With just a few strikes, the Yellow Flash cleared the field.
[Everyone watching]: "The Fourth Hokage's insane… and his student's only five?!"
Even in the Boruto era, jaws dropped.
[Denki]: "Wait, that's your grandpa, right, Boruto?!"
[Boruto]:sweating bullets "Uh… yeah. Kinda runs in the family, I guess."
The boy sighed inwardly.
No matter where he went, people compared him to legends—
his father the Seventh Hokage, his grandfather the Fourth.
He had no idea what kind of pain their lives carried.
The Weight of Shadows
That night, they set up camp.
While the others rested, Minato spoke quietly to Obito about Kakashi's past.
Obito listened, frowning in disbelief.
Kakashi's father—Sakumo Hatake, the White Fang—had taken his own life after being condemned for choosing comrades over mission.
[Iwabe]: "The Sixth had it rough…"
[Sarada]: "No kidding."
[Zabuza]: "Heh, welcome to reality. Every generation's soaked in blood."
Understanding dawned on Obito's face.
He finally saw the grief behind Kakashi's coldness.
When dawn came, Minato departed for another front line, leaving the squad to continue alone.
Kakashi led the march silently, and to everyone's surprise—
Obito didn't argue once.
He followed orders obediently.
Even Rin was startled. "Did Obito hit his head?"
Of course, as every ninja knew—
when things look peaceful, the danger's already on its way.
The Ambush at Kanabi Bridge
Two Iwa-nin appeared out of nowhere—
one drew their attention, the other disappeared into the mist.
Moments later, a cry split the air.
"RIN!"
The mist cleared—and she was gone.
Obito spun, panic flaring. "They took her!"
He dashed forward—only for Kakashi to grab his wrist.
The audience stared, stunned.
Why wasn't Kakashi chasing after their teammate?!
[Iwabe]: "Sixth Hokage-sama… aren't you going to save her?!"
[Boruto]: "Wait—what?!"
[Hoki]: "No way, he really said that?!"
[Ōnoki]: "Hmph. Naïve brats. Sometimes… sacrifice is the only option."
[Naruto]: "Sacrifice your friends? That's not ninja talk!"
The Clash of Ideals
"Obito," Kakashi said flatly, "you know the rules. The mission comes first."
Obito's eyes widened. "And Rin? What about her?"
"...We'll rescue her later. They won't kill a medical ninja immediately. If they learn our plans, the whole mission fails."
Cold logic.
No emotion.
Just procedure.
"Rules are rules," Kakashi said, voice sharp as steel. "A ninja who abandons the mission is worse than trash."
Silence fell.
Even the wind seemed to stop.
Then—
Obito's fist slammed into Kakashi's jaw, sending him sprawling into the dirt.
"Then you're wrong," he hissed, trembling with fury.
"I hate you… I hate everything about how you think!"
Kakashi staggered up, brushing off his uniform.
"I'm the leader. You'll follow my command, or the team collapses. You're too weak to decide otherwise."
That did it.
Obito grabbed him by the collar, eyes burning like twin suns.
"You're serious?"
"Yes," Kakashi said, voice low. "I watched my father die because he broke that rule."
Obito froze—then spoke softly, but every word carried the weight of a kunai.
"Then your father… was a true hero."
A hush swept through the crowd of onlookers across the Shinobi world.
Even the war-scarred veterans felt their throats tighten.
The wind stirred the fallen leaves.
Obito's voice cut through it like lightning.
"In this ninja world… those who break the rules are trash."
"But those who abandon their friends…"
"...are worse than trash!"
The screen erupted with messages.
[Naruto]: "YES! That's it! That's the real ninja way!"
[Guy]: "Youthful flames, Obito! You tell him!"
[Tsunade]: "Hmph. Even I felt that one."
[Sasuke]: "...He said what needed to be said."
[Shikamaru]: "Man, no wonder that quote became legend."
Kakashi stood frozen, Obito's words echoing in his chest like a thunderclap.
The boy turned and ran toward the mist, toward danger—
toward fate.
And as the scene faded out, the chat exploded in disbelief, awe, and sorrow.
That one sentence—"Those who don't cherish their comrades are worse than trash"—
burned itself into the soul of every ninja watching.
