[Boruto]: "This guy… this Iwa-nin is way too dirty!"
[Sarada]: "Seriously! He pretended to be dead just to trap them?!"
[Ōnoki]: "Hmph, this is the cruelty of real battle."
[Chocho]: "Poor Obito… he just wanted to save his friends…"
The Collapse
Obito's last strike missed. The enemy commander, Hikarui, spun like a predator and swung his blade straight for Obito's neck.
Kakashi's pupils shrank.
He burst forward, the short sword in his hand slashing through the air like lightning—
CLANG! Sparks flew as steel met steel.
The two traded blows in a shower of embers, the roar of the cave shaking with every impact.
Though Obito's Sharingan kept him alive, his close-quarters skills lagged behind.
He dodged and countered as best he could, until—
"Now, Kakashi!"
Obito lunged and grabbed the enemy's arm. Kakashi seized the opening, blade flashing.
Slash!
Blood splattered across the cave floor. Hikarui collapsed, body twitching.
Breathing hard, the two boys turned toward Rin—bound, unconscious, but alive.
Kakashi quickly cut her free.
For a brief moment, the three of them smiled in relief.
But that peace lasted less than a heartbeat.
The Trap
A shadow stirred.
"Impressive teamwork…" Hikarui's voice oozed from the smoke. "But you're still just kids. You've walked right into my jutsu."
His hand slammed to the ground.
"Earth Release: Cave Burial!!"
The ground roared and split.
Stone and dust rained down like a storm from hell.
"Run!!" Kakashi shouted.
The three bolted through the shaking tunnel, boulders crashing behind them.
Then—
Crack!
A chunk of rock slammed into Kakashi's head—his half-blind eye too slow to see it coming.
"Kakashi-kun!!" Rin screamed.
Obito didn't hesitate. He shoved Kakashi with all his strength—
and the next instant, a massive slab of stone came down on him instead.
BOOM.
Dust swallowed the cave.
When the rumbling stopped, half of Obito's body was buried beneath the rubble.
The Last Gift
[Boruto]: "I can't watch this anymore… that's too cruel."
[Sarada]: "That guy really pretended to die… I hate him!"
[Kawaki]: "Kakashi should've seen that coming."
[Chocho]: "He couldn't! His eye was hurt!"
[Mei Terumī]: "Poor boy… he's just a child."
Kakashi crawled through the dust, frantic.
"Obito!! Hang on, I'll get you out!"
He pushed, clawed, screamed—
but the boulder wouldn't move.
"Forget it, Kakashi," Obito coughed weakly, blood trailing from his lips.
"My right side's already crushed… I can't feel anything."
"No! Damn it!" Kakashi slammed his fists against the stone, tears mixing with dirt.
Rin covered her mouth, trembling.
[Minato]: "...I failed them. If only I'd been faster."
[Kushina]: "Minato…"
Kakashi's voice cracked. "If I'd just listened to you earlier… this never would've happened."
"I'm not fit to be captain. Not even fit to be called a ninja. I couldn't protect either of you!"
Obito's hand twitched.
"Don't say that… Kakashi."
He forced a faint smile. "I just realized something. You became a jōnin today, didn't you?"
Kakashi blinked in confusion. "What does that have to do with—"
"I didn't get you a gift."
The music shifted—soft, aching, like a flute played in the wind.
Obito's fingers reached toward his bloodied face.
"I finally figured out what to give you…"
"Kakashi… I'm giving you my Sharingan."
Kakashi froze. Rin gasped.
"It's my present to you… my friend," Obito whispered.
"No matter what anyone says—you're a great ninja."
"Rin… please. Use your medical ninjutsu. Transfer it into Kakashi's left eye."
Tears streamed down Rin's cheeks, but she nodded.
"Understood…"
Her chakra glowed faintly as she worked.
The world outside rumbled again, dust falling like rain.
And in the chaos, a new crimson eye opened beneath Kakashi's headband.
[Naruto]: "So that's when he became Sharingan Kakashi…"
[Sarada]: "Obito-senpai really was amazing…"
[Gaara]: "Even in death, he passed on his will."
The Oath of Vengeance
Kakashi clenched his new eye shut.
"Obito… I'll never forget this. I swear—I'll avenge you."
He rose to his feet, lightning flickering faintly around his blade.
Outside the cave, the enemy commander—still alive—sat calmly against a rock, sipping from his canteen.
Kakashi's silhouette emerged from the dust, drenched in blood and fury.
The Sharingan gleamed beneath his forehead protector, blazing with wrath.
"I'll kill you for him."
[Ebisu]: "YES! Take that bastard's head off!"
[Fourth Kazekage Rasa]: "I'm with him. This is painful to watch!"
[Boruto]: "He can't die like this! Obito-nii was too good for that!"
[Mitsuki]: "Don't worry, Boruto-kun. I'll protect you like that too."
[Sarada]: "Mitsuki… that sounds more like a threat."
And so ended the first part of Obito's tale—
a boy who believed in comradeship above all,
who gave everything for his friends.
The screen dimmed, leaving only Kakashi's tear-streaked face in the shadows.
