Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: A New Game, An Old Favor

Mutu (The Class President) collected the phones. "Alright, everyone! Back to your seats! Put your phones away!"

After taking attendance, Mutu sighed. "This time, two people are missing. One, tan, is always absent, but the other one is strange why is she missing?" Everyone laughed. "President, you're wrong! No one is absent today!"

Siv Siv happily greeted Hana as she arrived. Even the student who was often absent showed up: Tan.

Hana glanced at Likan. Meanwhile, Tan sat still, twirling his pen, looking out the window, and noticing the cracked glass.

The next class was Physics. The teacher was in his 40s but still looked strong and handsome. All the students, boys and girls, loved to compliment his appearance, but he was strict and didn't fall for compliments. He usually taught 10th and 11th grade, but the usual 12th-grade Physics teacher was on maternity leave, so he had to step in for 11th and 12th grade this year.

He called Hana to solve the problem on the board. Hana excelled in every way: looks, academics, demeanor, and kindness. She successfully solved two out of three conditions, but the third one stumped her. Even Mootu tried and couldn't figure it out.

The class atmosphere was intense. Mala's group complained that the problem was too hard and asked the teacher to make it homework since it was almost break time. The teacher simply smiled. "Solve it, students." He called Siv Siv to the front, noticing her uniform was unbuttoned. He used his stick to gently poke her blouse, intending to make her realize. She giggled and asked to be excused to fix her buttons.

The teacher then called numbers 4 and 5 rank that's Yin and Likan up to the board together.

Likan's mind was still preoccupied with Mala's words. Yin noticed her distraction and tapped the board lightly to get her attention. She saw the teacher looking at Yin, then she looked at the problem Hana was solving.

After a moment, Hana realized the key to the solution. "Teacher, may I try one more time to finish it?"

The teacher said, "Ah, finally, Hana figured it out! Both of you can sit down now." Likan was about to put down her chalk, but Yin stopped her. "Wait, the teacher said we can go back!"

Likan whispered, "Stay here and keep me company for a bit." Then, Likan spoke up to the teacher. Teacher, since we've already started, can't we finish the problem?

The teacher laughed. "ah!,oh sure! Let's see which one of my 'children' solves it correctly. Good luck!"

Mala and the other students chuckled, "Teacher, you called us 'children' again! Call us 'juniors' instead, we're younger than you!" Everyone laughed.

Hana finished her solution. Yin murmured, "Kan, what's wrong?" Likan finished hers, and Yin finished his solution too.

The entire class was surprised by the answer, especially Yin's. The teacher praised them. "All three of you are correct!" Hana and Yin had the same method, exactly as the teacher expected.

He paused when he looked at Likan's answer, thinking for a moment. "Likan! Your answer is correct too, but your method is too complicated. Normally, it would take a long time to figure out. But Likan! You're showing something new! Your speed is fast, but don't use this method in the exam. It could lead to mistakes and waste time."

Likan sighed to herself. 'Why do I feel like a spear has been pulled out of my chest, even though I don't know if that was a compliment or not?'

Everyone commented that Hana's and Yin's methods were easier.

The bell rang. The teacher told them not to erase the answers yet. "Copy the solutions before you erase them." Likan copied both Hana's and her own methods. Hana did the same. The others only copied Hana's and Yin's.

Likan bought a snack at the stall. She saw Tuna busy working, but her demeanor was so normal that no one seemed to notice or suspect that she was being bullied. 'She acts too well; everything must be perfectly convincing,' Likan thought, shaking her head. Tuna accidentally saw Likan and remembered she was the one standing with Vi.

At that moment, a group of 10th-grade boys (from mixed classes) came over and asked Tuna to take a gift to Sara. They smiled, counting on her help. Tuna took the gift; it was routine for her now.

Likan sat alone at a table, eating her snack. San came over and knocked on the table, startling her. "Are you coming to watch the football match this Sunday?"

Likan asked, "Why are you inviting me so suddenly?"

San replied, "Didn't we study together since we were little?"

Likan countered, "But we weren't close." She continued, "Aren't you going to look for the book?"

San answered, "I can't find it. I don't know what kind of book it is. I've been looking for a long time."

"Speaking of which," Likan said. "I'm curious why you're looking for that book. Are you suddenly interested in reading?" San smiled. "Someone asked me to."

Likan saw an opportunity. "I'll help you find the book if you help me find the person who broke the window! I think it was one of the guys playing ball!"(she amegine back that's she can't see them clearly)

San paused, thinking. "Sure, I can do that! But you have to come watch the football game, then you'll definitely meet the players."

Likan walked back to the classroom, passing the storage room. This time, it wasn't locked. She opened the door and saw all sorts of supplies. She went further inside and saw someone burning something. 'Who is that?'

She went in. It was Tan! He saw Likan but didn't care, standing and watching what he was burning: books! Likan immediately rushed to put out the fire. She stomped on the flames, kicked at the burning pieces, and used her outer jacket to slap the fire out.

Tan asked, "What are you doing? Can't you see it's going out?"

"I can! And I want it to go out!" She quickly looked through the books on the floor and found what she was looking for. She hugged the book. "I found it!"

She then turned to Tan. "Why are you burning school books? They belong to the school!"

Tan replied, "It's none of your business. Get out." Likan saw other books and picked them up to look at them. Tan grabbed her arm tightly and stared at her, urging her to leave. She stared back, jerked her arm away, and grumbled, "It's such a small thing, why are you acting like it's a big deal?" Then she walked out.

Back in class, Mootu complained, "He's absent again!" Hana said, "Everyone, if you need my help with lessons, I can help you study together until we all pass. That would make me happy." The students cheered.

While that a sounds of walking step by step Infront of each class , each grade ,she looks so forcus but suddenly The 12th-grade homeroom teacher, Teacher Pan, walked past and saw Likan looking into the classrooms where the boys were playing football. She was just walking and observing their class environment.

The teacher called Likan. "How are things, Kan?"

Likan replied, "About the broken window, Teacher… can't you really find out, or are you pretending not to know?"

The teacher answered, "I'm counting on you. Get it done."

Likan asked, "Counting on me? Like you used to count on me?" The teacher looked at her with sympathy. "Does that still affect you?"

She replied, "No, I just thought of it suddenly. It's okay, I'll do it."

Later that evening, Hana said she wouldn't be attending extra lessons tonight. Siv Siv was surprised but didn't ask anything. Then, she saw Hana following Likan. The two stopped and talked for a while. Likan nodded.

Likan then went to talk to Yin. Everyone was surprised. 'Likan never talks like closely to anyone in class. What's going on between Yin and Likan?' Siv Siv was annoyed, and even Mala laughed. "Likan is suddenly popular now, isn't she? The quiet one who causes a fuss!"

Yin refused to let Hana know that they worked at the same place or any place. "What am I supposed to do? I already accepted Hana's request!"

Yin replied, "I don't know, figure it out yourself! But if Hana finds out, I won't forgive you!"

Likan, now more outspoken, retorted, "Won't forgive me? Why should I be scared of such a small thing?"

Yin looked at her, walked closer, making her shiver, and said, "Say that again!" Likan quickly replied, "I know, I know! She thought his inregulaly behavior and said little sounds Does Big Sister Khai know this situation of him?" Yin gave her a sharp look.

Suddenly, San appeared from nowhere and slung his arm around Likan's neck. "Hey! Don't forget to watch the game!"

Yin looked at Likan. "You seem more popular than before!"

Likan replied, "That's enough! Don't show that expression too much, or Big Sister Khai might find out!"

San asked, "What's going on?"

Likan smiled. "Nothing. Do you know what I accomplished today?" San guessed, "You still haven't found the person who broke the glass!" Likan playfully hit his arm and showed him the book.

San grabbed it. "oh, little old book Where have you been hiding, you make me tiered of finding you"!
