Chapter 13 - My Choice

Although astonished and surprised, Lex was a Transmigrator.

Even Transmigration had been experienced, so a Family that knew the mystical world was, at most, a stone dropped into a lake, causing ripples in his heart that quickly subsided.

However, on the surface, Lex still controlled his expression, trying to appear very surprised.

"Beyonder? Heavens, do they really exist?"

Bison said with a smile, "Looks like you know about this."

Lex shrugged and said, "I gained a lot from this trip. On the ship, I heard some Adventurers mention it. But I didn't expect them to really exist; I originally thought they were just legends."

The Baron opened his cup and laughed, "So, son, which path do you want to choose?"

Lex pondered for a moment, then smiled and replied, "Father, I don't think these two paths conflict. I can become a Beyonder and also assist you in your business."

"Of course, if I have to choose one, then I choose the second Path. I'm quite interested in the mystical world; I want to become a Beyonder."

Bison burst into laughter: "Very good, excellent, a man should have ambition! Do as you say. Don't worry about assisting me for now. Let Amelia explain some information about Extraordinaries to you. I'm not good at that."

This was another surprising point for Lex. This time, he was genuinely astonished and looked at the gentle and elegant woman beside him.

"No need to be so surprised; I can tell you now. Your mother is a Beyonder." Bison said another astonishing thing.

He then sighed, "My union with your mother wasn't purely out of love, though that accounted for a large part."

"Your grandfather, my father, the esteemed Viscount Morant, didn't particularly like me. And my brothers also felt that I would threaten their status and assets."

"So, behind your grandfather's back, they did quite a few unsavory things. During one such incident, I met your mother."

"Since then, your mother has always supported me, always blocking those dark hands reaching for this Family from the shadows. It is precisely because your mother is a Beyonder that I was able to gain a foothold in Enki Town and have everything I have now."

In his father's description, Lex looked at his mother, Amelia, in disbelief, unable to believe that such a woman was a Beyonder and had fought in the dark more than once.

Amelia shook her head helplessly: "Lex, the mystical world is not as beautiful as you imagine. Of course, I won't and can't stop you from entering this world."

"Since you have such a thought, then I'll briefly explain."

"As for the background and origin of Extraordinaries, I will teach you the relevant knowledge once you become one of them."

"For now, you only need to know that there are many Beyonder paths. As for which ones specifically, even I cannot know them all. And what we can offer you are only a few choices among them."

Lex knew that what his mother was about to say would determine the direction of his future life, so he dared not be negligent, perked up his ears, and did not want to miss a single detail.

"First, I once studied with a member of an ancient Family, the Abraham. They were once the largest noble Family of the Tudor Empire, controlling the 'Apprentice' Sequence."

"As a student of one of the members of this Family, I am naturally a Beyonder of this Sequence. If you want to take this path, then I can at least provide all low and mid-Sequence potion formulas, including Sequence 6 'Scribe'."

"In my adventures when I was young, I also obtained the initial Sequence 9 potion formula for the 'Hunter' Sequence. But for this Sequence, I only know clues for the Sequence 8 formula. I am not clear about higher-level Sequence formulas."

Hunter!

Mother actually had the initial formula for the 'Hunter' Sequence!

The problem was that she only had the initial Sequence potion formula, only knew clues for the next Sequence, and was not clear about higher-level Sequence formulas.

Lex collected his thoughts and continued to listen to his mother's narration.

Amelia paused before continuing: "Besides the two options above, to become a Beyonder, you can also join a Church."

"The Church of the Night Goddess controls the complete 'Sleepless' Sequence. Your father donates no less than a thousand libras to the Church every year, so I believe it won't be difficult for you to join the Church."

"The Storm Church controls the 'Sailor' Sequence. Although our Town doesn't have a Storm Church, Kaosi, who has close ties with your father, is himself a Storm believer."

"He has a deep friendship with a bishop of the Storm Church and can recommend you to join the Storm Church through him."

"Finally, you have another choice. The Royal Family of our Kingdom controls the 'Arbiter' Sequence. Using our connections, it's not difficult to obtain the initial formula for this Sequence."

"These are the choices we can offer you."

"The problem is, whether it's the Church or the Royal Family, to obtain high-Sequence formulas for the corresponding path from them, you must accept their supervision and contribute to them to exchange for what you need."

Except for not having the 'Omniscient' Sequence and having an extra 'Apprentice' Sequence, it was basically similar to Mr. Faceless Man's suggestion.

Indeed, the Church and the Royal Family could provide a relatively stable promotion path, but required accepting supervision and making contributions. To become a Beyonder, one must pay a price.

Hmm, another Reader suggested I choose "Seer," but Mother didn't mention any information about that…

Lex took a deep breath, various thoughts flashed like lightning, and finally, an answer emerged in his heart.

"I choose 'Hunter'!"

I really prefer this kind of destructive path. A person should follow his heart.

Moreover, the 'Hunter' Sequence initially strengthens physical fitness and greatly enhances combat-related abilities.

The original owner already possessed excellent marksmanship and combat skills, which highly correlated with the 'Hunter' path. Lex reaffirmed his choice in his heart.

Amelia said with some concern, "Are you sure? If you choose this Sequence, you might only be able to stop at Sequence 8. Even so, do you still want to choose this Sequence?"

"I'm sure!" Lex nodded decisively. Perhaps in his mother's eyes, this path would lose clues for its formula at Sequence 7.

But Lex had the 'mystical book' and could communicate with the Observers from beyond the dimension. He believed that while high-Sequence formulas might be hard to come by, for low and mid-Sequences, these Observers should know clues.

At least, he should be able to advance to Sequence 6. As for higher-level potion formulas, they could be discussed later.

"Alright."

Amelia showed a slightly helpless smile: "Since you choose this path, I will prepare the corresponding potion for you."

"However, before drinking the potion, you need to learn meditation first. It's getting late, let's go to the dining room. I'll teach you meditation tomorrow."

"Anyway, some of the Materials in the formula will take time to collect, probably three to five days."

"So, for the next few days, practice meditation diligently and prepare to become a Beyonder!"
