Chapter 14 - The Birth of a Hunter

In the study.

After Lex left, the Bison couple did not leave.

The Baron habitually rubbed his forehead: "That child, are you sure he's really okay?"

Amelia shook her head: "When you said he had changed a lot, like a different person, I performed a divination."

"Don't worry, he is still him. At least, that's what the divination result told me."

Bison nodded lightly: "Then I'm relieved. I've invested a lot in him."

Hearing this, a hint of displeasure flashed in Amelia's eyes.

On the other side, Lex, who had returned to his bedroom, threw himself onto the bed.

But because he was too excited, he didn't sleep soundly that night and woke up before dawn.

After breakfast, his mother Amelia took Lex to a quiet room, a room he had never been to in his memory.

The room was full of bookshelves, overflowing with books, and two long wooden tables with test tubes, droppers, beakers, and other items, just like a laboratory.

There was also a wooden door deep in the room, with symbols carved on it that Lex couldn't understand, their meaning unknown.

"Today I will teach you meditation."

His mother's voice made Lex focus. The woman, dressed in a simple dress, had put on a pair of glasses at some point, looking like a scholar.

"When you drink the Beyonder potion, its power usually overflows. Your vision will become abnormal, and you will hear sounds you couldn't hear before."

"At this time, meditation is needed to control it, to contain it, and ultimately to fully master the power of the Beyonder potion."

Lex was eager to try: "Mom, what should I do?"

Amelia smiled: "Don't rush, child. Listen to me, for now you only need to learn simple, Entry-Level meditation."

"Relax your mind and body, close your eyes, and focus your attention. Imagine an object in your mind, something simple and easy will do, no need to be too complex."

"Once you have outlined this object in your mind, I need you to put all your attention on it, and constantly repeat, constantly outline it."

"Until you can instinctively outline it as soon as you close your eyes, then you have completed this assignment."

Lex nodded slightly: "I'll try it now."

He found a chair in the room and sat down, closing his eyes, relaxing his mind and body, and outlining the snake-scale revolver in his mind.

It had left a deep impression on Lex during his previous Sea adventure.

Soon, Lex found that it was difficult to completely reproduce it in his mind; the structure of the revolver was still too complex.

He decided to change it.

He suddenly thought of the Beyonder potion; its outline was very simple, and it held special significance for Lex.

That's it!

Lex began to outline the shape of the Beyonder potion in his mind, imagining the feeling of holding it in his hands. As this process was repeatedly, the object became increasingly clear in his mind.

A few days passed like this.

On the evening of the fourth day, after dinner, Amelia took Lex to the 'laboratory' again.

"The two missing auxiliary Materials have been collected. Tonight, I can prepare the 'Hunter' Beyonder potion for you."

His mother said as she opened the door, making Lex excited. He was finally going to enter the mysterious world and become one of the Beyonder.

As the gas lamps in the room were lit one by one, Amelia walked towards the door with mysterious symbols on it. She pushed it open and took out various Materials from inside.

Some were leaves, some were branches, and some were unknown organs soaked in some kind of liquid, held in containers.

Amelia placed these Materials into a large iron pot in a certain order, saying, "Low-sequence Beyonder potions are very simple to prepare. You just need to add the Materials in the order specified in the formula, in specific quantities, and then stir."

"It doesn't matter if there's a little more or a little less of the auxiliary Materials. As for the main Materials, the quantity can be slightly less, but not too much less. What needs attention is that their quantity must never be more, even if it's just a little, it will lead to serious consequences."

Amelia looked up, her gaze calmly fixed on her son: "Remember this, if you need to prepare Beyonder potions yourself in the future."

Lex nodded vigorously, and recorded his mother's words in his mind, not daring to forget them.

At this moment, Amelia opened the container with the mysterious organ soaking in it and fished out the object, which looked somewhat like a heart.

As soon as it left the liquid in the container, a red Sea of Light, like flames, would occasionally light up from within, displaying its power.

"This is the heart of a Pas Red Wolf. These wild wolves are Beyonder creatures. They are excellent Hunters, highly intelligent, and use traps to hunt."

"Its heart is the main Material for the 'Hunter' Beyonder potion. Without it, the correct Beyonder potion cannot be prepared."

Amelia threw the heart into the iron pot. When the red wolf's heart came into contact with the Materials inside, flames inexplicably shot up.

In the flames, Lex vaguely saw that the Materials began to decompose, yet they did not disappear, but rather aggregated together.

The vivid red flames in the iron pot gave Lex a strange feeling of high spirits and surging fighting intent.

This ball of flame seemed to awaken some instinct in his genes, making him long for battle and feel close to fire.

When the flames in the pot extinguished, the Materials inside had disappeared, leaving only a viscous, bright red liquid. They were separated from each other and could easily be poured into a cup.

Amelia picked up the cup: "Alright, this is the 'Hunter' Beyonder potion."

Lex walked over and took the cup. He had already read about the protagonist obtaining his first Beyonder potion in the book Lord of the Mysteries.

So, he was not surprised by the red viscous liquid in the cup. Under the gaze of his mother, Amelia, Lex drank the Beyonder potion.

The Beyonder potion entered his mouth, sliding down his esophagus, with no particular taste, but carrying a slight warmth.

After drinking this Beyonder potion, Lex began to convulse all over. He felt as if millions of tiny insects were squirming beneath his skin. He found that the surrounding scenery became unreal. One of his hands lengthened, the other shortened. He heard the roaring of wild beasts, the sound sometimes clear, sometimes blurry.

He grunted, feeling his emotions become irritable, wanting to vent.

At this moment, Amelia's voice sounded beside him: "Meditate, Lex. According to your practice from the past few days, use meditation to control the overflowing power of the Beyonder potion."

Lex quickly focused his attention, skillfully outlining the shape of the Beyonder potion, imagining its weight, and feeling its mystery.

Gradually, that irritable emotion disappeared, and he no longer heard the roaring of beasts. When he opened his eyes again, although the scene was still a bit blurry, it no longer had that unreal feeling, as if it had degenerated into a background.

He looked at his hands; they were normal, not showing any lengthening or shortening.

Lex could feel that his hands, and indeed every muscle in his body, were filled with power, and he could precisely control these muscles, allowing them to unleash power unimaginable to ordinary people when needed.

He found that his nose had become sensitive, able to smell the different scents of different things in the room; his eyesight was sharper, allowing him to see insects flying outside the window by the Sea of Light.

His skin became sensitive, able to distinguish the Materials of different objects through touch; his hearing became developed, and he could vaguely hear his younger siblings arguing in the hall from here.

In addition, the knowledge he had once learned, such as swordsmanship and combat techniques, suddenly became clear and deeply mastered.

Lex could recall those movements, decompose them, and combine them at will to form coherent and continuous attacks!

And some knowledge, specifically about making traps, even emerged from his mind. It allowed Lex to create simple but deadly traps using the Materials at hand.

In fact, given enough time and Materials, Lex could create a series of traps!

He took a deep breath, feeling his profound transformation, and said in a voice only he could hear: "I succeeded."

"I am already a Hunter!"
