Everyone stood stunned as they looked at the hidden room, unable to understand why Walter had even built a secret monitoring room like this.
"Oh! If this monitor room is showing the footage of right now, that means it must also have recordings from the past few days," Claire said suddenly, excitement rising in her voice.
"You're right, Claire… but we don't know when Walter set up this monitor room, so we can't say anything for sure," Lily replied quietly.
Just then, Stephnie's eyes fell on a letter lying on the table inside the monitor room. Olivia's name was written on it.
"Oh, this letter… maybe Walter left it here for Olivia," Stephnie said as she picked it up.
"Then read it. We also want to know what Walter has written for Olivia," Lily told her.
"How can I read it? It's written for Olivia…" Stephnie hesitated, glancing toward Cindy.
"It's okay, Stephnie. Mom isn't here right now, so you can read it. Who knows, maybe this letter will give us some information that could help us find a way to fight that demonic spirit," Cindy said, giving her permission to read it.
"Alright then," Stephnie said, opening the letter and beginning to read:
"Dear Olivia,
If you are reading this letter, it means I am no longer in this world. Forgive me for leaving you alone in this difficult time to fight that demonic spirit. I know you love me deeply, and I want to tell you that I love you just as much. I wanted to spend my entire life with you, but perhaps fate had something else planned for us. I want you to know that when that spirit first attacked me in the basement, that's when I installed these cameras, so that I could see what exactly it does in the house all day, and also keep an eye on it.
Please don't be angry with me for not telling you about it. The reason behind it was that I didn't want you to worry even more about our family's safety after seeing the spirit's daily activities. That's why I set this up the day you went to pick up the kids from school. Forgive me.
Now that I'm no longer alive, I want you to stay strong… and take care of yourself along with the kids. I know it will be very difficult for you to manage everything alone, but my love, you have to stay strong—for our children. Please don't cry, because even though I'm not alive anymore, I'll always be watching you.
I don't know what else to write, because there's so much I want to say that this letter would never end… but if I write more, I might start crying. Olivia, I love you so much. You will also have to give the kids my share of love. And when Alex grows up, give him my golf club on his 18th birthday. He really likes it.
Yours,Walter"
After reading the letter, everyone in the room had tears in their eyes. Poor Alex had only now realized that his dad had truly left this world, and that he would never come back again. Cindy had also become deeply emotional and clung to Lily as she cried. That demonic spirit had taken Olivia's love from her… and had taken these children's father away from them.
"Oh my God… I can feel every bit of Walter's love for Olivia in each word of this letter," Stephnie said, trying to hide her tears.
"Truly, Stephnie. Only someone who loved his wife sincerely every single moment of his life could write such an emotional letter," Claire replied, wiping her own eyes.
"And look at the tragedy… the one Walter loved the most is the one through whom that demonic spirit put him to death," Lily said while holding Cindy tightly in her arms.
"I will never forgive that spirit for killing our dad," Cindy cried out loudly.
The moment Cindy said that, a horrifying laugh echoed through the entire room—coming from the basement. It seemed the spirit had also realized that its secret monitor had been discovered. The laugh was so terrifying that for a moment it felt as if someone had hooked up a loudspeaker and was laughing into it.
"After reading this letter, my hatred for that spirit has grown even stronger. I promise all of you… the moment I get the chance, I will make that spirit pay for taking these children's father away from them," Claire said, gritting her teeth in anger.
Claire and Lily began to check through the recorded footage in the monitor room. But then, their eyes stopped on one particular clip. In the footage, Olivia was seen sleeping in her bedroom while Walter was sitting in the hall working on a laptop. At that time, both children were watching TV. Suddenly, Olivia woke up and started taking off all her clothes. In no time, Olivia was completely naked and stood straight on the bed. A little later, it seemed as if someone was licking Olivia's pussy, and Olivia was moaning, taking sharp breaths. It was clearly visible in the footage that Olivia was either under the control of that spirit or in sleep at that moment. After a short while, Olivia suddenly started putting on her clothes and then fell asleep again. Just then, Claire's gaze suddenly fell on the wardrobe in Olivia's bedroom, and this scene was spine-chilling because that demonic spirit was sitting atop the wardrobe, watching Olivia.
"Oh God!! This demonic spirit has been physically abusing Olivia for quite some time now," Cindy said, watching the footage.
Alex was asleep at this time, so he had not seen this footage, but Cindy was sitting there with Stephanie and the others, and she was very angry seeing the heinous act being perpetrated by the demonic spirit on her mother in the footage.
"This footage is from the night before Dad called those priests home, the one who gave Mom the Bible and the cross," Cindy said, checking the date and time on the footage.
"This means this was the incident that made Walter concerned about Olivia's safety, and he called the priest the next day. And perhaps this was the reason for setting up this monitor room and keeping it hidden from Olivia," Stephanie said, lost in thought.
"Lily, check the footage from the night before last; maybe we can find some evidence to prove Olivia's innocence," Claire told Lily, seeing her exploring the footage folder.
As soon as Claire said this, Lily started fast-forwarding all the footage, and finally, they found the clip.
"I found the footage from the night before last, when Walter returned from the motel with his family," Lily said, showing the footage to Claire and everyone else.
"Thank God. Lily, just play it fast," Claire said excitedly.
At Claire's request, Lily played the footage, and the clip from the night before last, the night Walter was murdered, began to play on the monitor before everyone's eyes. It was clearly visible in the footage that Walter was the one who attacked first, and then Olivia attacked Walter for her own and the children's safety. After that, when Walter did not stop his attack, Olivia deceitfully stabbed the knife into Walter's chest.
"Bingo! Now with the help of this footage, we can bring Olivia back," Claire said happily.
"Yeah, right. This evidence is enough to prove that whatever Olivia did that night, she did it in her self-defense to protect herself and her children," Lily said, supporting Claire's point.
After facing so many struggles and hardships, Claire and her team had finally found the evidence—thanks to Walter—that would allow them to go to the police and free Olivia. Even if only for a moment, a small smile appeared on Cindy's face. In just the last two days, she had lost both her mom and dad, but now, with the help of "The Ghost Mentors," Cindy's mom Olivia could finally come back.
"Guys! It's already too late. Lily and I will go prepare dinner. Claire, you go take a shower. Then tell us what information you found in the library," Stephnie said as she stood up.
"Stephnie, wait!" Claire suddenly stopped her.
"Yes, Claire? What happened?" Stephnie turned back and asked.
"That spirit might destroy this video footage, so let's do one thing—use your exorcism powers to seal this monitor room, and we'll all forward the footage to our phones as backup and for safety," Claire said, voicing her doubt.
"Claire is absolutely right. We can't leave this evidence exposed like this, because that spirit can go to any extent to harm Cindy's family," Lily added.
After hearing Lily and Claire, Stephnie went to her bag and took out some items along with a small bottle of holy water and salt. Then she murmured a few words from bible in her mind and sealed the monitor room with her spells so that the spirit couldn't reach it.
Meanwhile, Lily trimmed the video footage and forwarded it to everyone's mobile phones. After that, Lily and Stephnie went to the kitchen to make dinner, while Cindy sat in the hall with Alex. Once everyone had left, Claire also got up and went to take a shower.
Just a little while later, Cindy saw Walter's spirit standing near the stairs on the first floor, motioning for her to come to him. At that moment, Stephnie and Lily were fully focused on cooking, and Claire was still showering.
Seeing her dad's spirit, Cindy became extremely happy. She turned toward Stephnie to tell her, but Walter's spirit gestured for her to stay quiet and come to him silently. Cindy thought that since Walter was now in spirit form, maybe he didn't want the Ghost Mentors team to see him; so she quietly began walking toward her dad's spirit.
"Cindy, where are you going when everyone is sitting in the hall?" Claire suddenly asked as she stepped out of the shower, drying her wet hair, and saw Cindy heading toward the stairs.
The moment Claire said that, Stephnie and Lily's attention also shifted toward Cindy, and Stephnie shouted, "Cindy, step back! That's not your dad!" Because Stephnie was a medium, she could see the demonic spirit hiding behind Walter's face.
As soon as Stephnie said this, Claire rushed toward Cindy and grabbed her, stopping her right there. Seeing all this, the demonic spirit revealed its true form and began growling furiously, as if it would devour every living person in the house right then and there. At that very moment, Lily threw the holy water kept in the kitchen onto the spirit, and it vanished from there, growling darkly.
"Cindy, are you okay? Where were you going like that?" Stephnie asked as she walked toward her.
"Yes, I'm fine… I thought it was my dad, so I was going to meet him," Cindy answered, her eyes filling with tears.
Hearing all the noise, little Alex also woke up from his sleep, crying as he asked, "Where is Dad? I also want to meet Dad.
"With great difficulty, Claire calmed him down again, telling him that his dad would come soon.
"Just look at this… that demonic spirit isn't even scared of us anymore. It came to harm Cindy right in front of us," Lily said in shock.
"We'll have to stay even more alert. From now on, no one will go anywhere alone—not even to the bathroom," Stephnie instructed everyone strictly.
Hearing her, everyone nodded in agreement, and then Stephnie and Lily resumed cooking, while Claire sat in the hall with Cindy and Alex, watching TV with them.
"Cindy, have you ever heard the name Garcie Gunway?" Claire asked, glancing at her."No, I've never heard that name before. Who is she?" Cindy asked in surprise.
Just then, Stephnie and Lily also heard Claire say this from the kitchen, and Stephnie asked Claire, "We're hearing this name for the first time too. Who is this… Garcie Gunway?"
"Garcie was the last descendant of Mr. Robert Gunway who lived in this house. But aside from her name, we know nothing about her. She was born in 1994, which means she would be 31 years old now," Claire said while taking out the diary in which she wrote her case-related notes.
"Can someone tell me who exactly this Robert and this Garcie—or Runway—actually are?" Lily asked irritably.
Because when Claire had explained everything about Robert to Stephnie on the train, Lily had been fast asleep, which is why she had no clue.
As soon as Lily said this, Stephnie began explaining everything to her. On the other side, Claire continued checking all the notes in her diary related to this case, trying to find some connection from the information she had, but until now, she had found nothing.
"Claire, so you didn't find anything about this Garcie in the library?" Lily asked after hearing everything from Stephnie.
"Yes, I went through so many books, old newspapers, and the old municipal records of this place, but I didn't find any information about Garcie. If we can somehow find her, then maybe we'll be able to solve this case and fight this spirit," Claire replied.
"Yes, Claire. To control this spirit, I need to know its name. Without knowing a spirit's real name, performing an exorcism is not possible," Stephnie said while preparing milk for Alex.
"Hey Claire, did a paper fall out of your bag?" Cindy asked, picking up a sheet from the floor and handing it to her. It had probably fallen when Claire was taking her diary out of the bag.
"Oh, this is just my library card application and the library card itself," Claire said as she took the documents from Cindy.
But the very next moment, Claire's eyes fell on those documents, and she suddenly shouted, "Oh God!! Why didn't I see this earlier? How did I miss this point even though it was right in front of me?"Hearing Claire say that, Stephnie, Lily, and Cindy all stared at her in shock, wondering what Claire had suddenly seen in those papers that made her yell like that.
