Chapter 12 - White Event

Sigurd still didn't want to take one of the old chariots for his journey. Although they were good for travel, as a modern man, he wished he could travel by spaceship. He still didn't know how advanced technology was at this stage in the world.

But he did know that a few galaxy-level empires were at war with each other; among them, the Skrulls and the Kree were the main forces, and others had joined sides. Some still maintained a neutral stance in the war. After all, no one wanted their race in a conflict where most of the benefits would be taken by a stronger empire.

As for Asgard, they did not try to meddle in different galactic forces. Although there might be some conflict in the future, at the present time, there was no need to involve themselves in other people's conflicts.

Odin looked at his brother, who persisted in taking a spaceship.

"Okay, you can check them yourself and see which one you like."

Sigurd looked at his brother and then asked.

"Let's go, brother, to check the spaceships. After all, I need to look for a better one."

Odin couldn't do anything but follow along with Sigurd.

When Sigurd came to the area where the spacecraft were kept, he was surprised. He saw thousands of people working on the ground, where a few were assembling spacecraft or different machines such as space cannons or small gun turrets.

This really surprised him. He had always thought Asgard was still ancient in its technology at the present time, but looking at the people working on different weapons and aircraft, he realized he had underestimated Asgard's power.

After all, the powerful people in Asgard who could bring great damage to the enemy numbered no more than a few thousand, but the people of Asgard were not all counted as warriors. Although the ordinary people of Asgard had strong bodies and lived a minimum of 1,500 years—a long life by Midgard standards—he still hadn't thought Asgard would be advanced enough to prepare for a future war.

"Brother, is this technology development your idea?"

Odin looked at his brother and shook his head.

"It was a few Asgardian citizens who came up with the idea. I thought it wouldn't be bad to have some technology. After all, the world is changing. We have to change a few aspects for our citizens."

Then Odin looked toward the people working.

"Look, they are working their whole lives to give Asgard one more way to survive in the long run of the universe. Although we are powerful, we also have to look for different methods to increase the strength of our citizens. The citizens of Asgard are our priority, Sigurd. Everything that comes after is just the fruit of hard work."

Sigurd turned his head to look around at where they were researching different objects. Then he came in front of a spaceship that looked cool and had new technology, so he chose that one.

Sigurd walked out of the spacecraft station and asked his brother.

"Everything is set, brother. I will be going to travel tomorrow. It might take more time than I think, but you should still enforce the magic barrier to prevent unnecessary trouble."

Odin didn't even look back.

"I have already informed everyone to work on the matter. Your sister-in-law will be in charge, so you don't need to worry about that. At present, we have a lot of work in Asgard to prepare well enough."

Sigurd heard the words and knew all the basic preparation had been done. He thought this was the best time to travel. After all, at present, everyone was focusing on strengthening their power.

The next day, Sigurd was sitting in the main control room of the spaceship. Although there was an Artificial Intelligence in the spaceship that could control different functions, he named it "Ai." Sigurd didn't prefer talking with Ai, so basic commands were done by Ai automatically.

Sigurd passed through the Bifrost directly into outer space near Midgard. Looking at Midgard from above, it felt majestic. But he didn't enter Midgard's area and instead turned his attention toward the Moon. Although the moon's situation was different in the Marvel world, there were still different scenarios where it contained some very rare material.

But the rarest of all was Phlogistone, which is created during a White Event. Now the question was whether White Events had ever happened in this universe or not. This was one of the rarest clean energies, containing different types of energies including cosmic radiation, M'kraan Crystal energies, Phoenix Force radiation, the Beyonder's energy, Infinity Gem manifestation, and White Event energy.

A White Event itself had different reasons for happening, but the most basic was that it occurred when certain universes started to evolve, so the Builders developed a system to release different energy into the world with Earth at the center to create new superpowers in the universe.

But looking at the present time, Phlogistone material might not be there; still, he wanted to check, after all, Midgard had been in a destruction phase twice by Celestials.

The spaceship moved toward the Moon, but looking at it up close, he didn't see anything different. He still maintained his vigilance, as in different timelines the moon was the base for different groups of people. The Inhumans were also among the group created by the Kree during experiments on the moon. It was still too early, but he still had to observe.

He put the spaceship in stealth mode so as not to attract unnecessary attention. Then he ordered the Ai to scan the area for unknown metals.

But Sigurd, who was bored, didn't know it would take more than a month to scan the whole moon. He still let the Ai scan, while he himself was busy with rune magic.

Sigurd, who was deep in his practice of runes, suddenly heard a notification, but to his disappointment, he didn't find the Phlogistone material. White Events had not occurred in this universe.

Sigurd looked around the planet, deep in his thoughts.

"So what kind of universe am I in? Looking at the power Odin has at present, in his prime he might be stronger than what I remember. So was there trouble that caused Odin's strength to decrease, or is this universe the Prime one?"

When Sigurd thought of the Prime Universe, he had the least information about it, but he knew from different comic timelines that the Prime Universe was where everyone was at their peak, where even Odin was depicted as he is in myth.

"If it is Prime, then this world might be even more chaotic than I have imagined."

Sigurd still didn't make a conclusion, but he looked toward the screen where materials found on the moon were listed. Looking at the details, Sigurd didn't think there was anything rare that could be excavated from there. After all, it was time-consuming, and looking for materials was a waste of time for him.

Then Sigurd gave instructions to Ai to move toward the next planet. This time, Sigurd moved toward a different planet, but he set permission to inform him only when something rare was found.

Sigurd again focused on solving a few patterns of rune magic. Looking at the pattern of runes, it might lead him to something unexpected.

He himself felt that the space power in his body was increasing as the runes were unlocked, but what other uses there were besides a few magical tricks, he didn't know.

As time flew by, more than three years had already passed, but Sigurd was still in his practice.

Suddenly, an alarm sounded in Sigurd's practice room with a robotic voice.

"High-level energy detected."
