Chapter 17 - Malekith the ACCURSED

Sigurd looked at the Bifrost Bridge, which had a majestic presence, but he didn't know how it was created. After all, in the mythical world, it was said the Aesir gods built the bridge with a magician.

Sigurd looked toward the Rainbow Bridge from which they had just arrived from the planet Tofra.

Sigurd, along with his brother and sister-in-law, appeared near a new construction area where dwarves, with the help of Asgardian people, were constructing Valhalla. Magicians of Vanir could also be seen inscribing magic to create the afterlife realm.

Just when he was about to head toward his residence, he learned of a court meeting being held that he had to attend.

Sigurd looked at his brother.

"So what is the reason for holding this meeting?"

Odin shook his head.

"I don't know. It might be our father's idea. After all, he is the God-King; he might have something important to say."

Sigurd didn't bother to ask more, since his brother didn't know the details.

As he entered the hall, he saw his father and mother, and everyone was sitting and looking toward him.

Bor looked at both of his sons. Then he stood up.

"Today, my youngest son has taken responsibility to secure a rare metal which will give Asgard more flexibility to provide high-quality weapons to our great soldiers. This metal will also help us make the defense of our borders stronger. So, let us applaud the first major achievement of Sigurd Borson."

As the speech ended, there was loud applause in the hall that even people outside could hear.

Bor then spoke again.

"As for the rest of the citizens, they will also learn of this achievement in three days, when we will be selecting a warrior to guard the Bifrost. Since the Valkyrie are preparing for future war, we need to account for their workload, so we need someone capable enough to handle the Bifrost."

Then Bor looked toward his daughter-in-law.

"Frigga, you need to inform your father so that Vanir warriors can also participate in the competition. As both clans are united after thousands of years, let this be the first joint endeavor for both citizens to be selected for important posts that secure our power in the Nine Realms."

Everyone in the hall looked surprised that the God-King decided to let a Vanir warrior protect the Bifrost, but no one spoke. After all, even Odin said nothing about Vanir participation, so there was no need for anyone else to object.

Sigurd looked at the reactions of the gods and goddesses in the hall. No one raised an objection, but he could see a few were not happy. When he saw his brother's face, he knew this plan might be Odin's, to strengthen the bond with Vanir.

At the same time, Frigga heard the words of the God-King. She was surprised that he would allow Vanir warriors to participate in the selection for such an important weapon, which could destroy any realm. It showed the God-King's acceptance of Vanir.

"Yes, God-King, I will personally inform my father about this."

Bor looked at his daughter-in-law.

"Frigga, in the future, you are allowed to call me 'Father' in meetings, like Odin and Sigurd. As for you going personally to Vanir, it will be taken as a daughter coming home. Sigurd will go with you, which will also represent my presence."

Sigurd looked at his father but didn't know what to say. After all, Vanir is Odin's in-laws' house, so he should be going. Sigurd didn't know how he ended up with this task.

"Yes, I will follow the order, Father."

The meeting then turned to the construction of Valhalla, and a few people were asked about the situation with the Dark Elves, Frost Giants, and other enemies.

"So, is there any update about the Dark Elves? I heard there are some changes in their royal family."

The Asgard god Aegir looked at everyone.

"God-King, I have been monitoring the Dark Elves' movements. They have been at war with the Trolls for more than decades. According to our spies in Dark Elf society, there is someone more ruthless than Kraw the Uncontrollable."

Aegir looked toward Odin, then toward Bor.

"His name is Malekith the Accursed. According to spies, he is a unique kind of wizard, and his ruthlessness is severe. Whether it is an enemy or ally, those who cross his path are found dead.

Our spies also died at the hands of Malekith, and according to my sources, he might be in the process of dethroning the Dark Elf king. He might even start a war with the Light Elves. This hasn't been confirmed, but his men have been spying in the area of the Light Elves, even within Dark Elf territory."

Sigrun, who had been listening, looked toward Bor.

"According to the Valkyries stationed near Nidavellir, they captured three spies near dwarven territory, but the Dark Elves committed suicide, so we couldn't get any information from them. We alerted the Light Elves, but the situation was the same."

Sigurd listened to the explanations and knew that Malekith would soon become the king of the Dark Elves and launch a war against every neighboring realm. After all, his strength increased through war.

Malekith enjoyed war, but Sigurd didn't plan to intervene in the conflict in Dark Elf territory. After all, they were not allies who would help Asgard solve the problem. Secondly, Malekith needed to find the Aether, which is also known as the Reality Stone.

Although he didn't want to collect the Infinity Stones, he still wanted to try to absorb some energy from them if possible. After all, the Space Stone gave power at the Sky-Father level to Captain Marvel, which proved it might contain cosmic energy.

Sigurd still didn't want to risk using an Infinity Stone; whenever one became known to the world, there was a bloodbath, as if the stones were cursed. But he still wanted to see if he could borrow some energy, especially from the Time Stone and Space Stone.

Odin listened to every word and then finally spoke.

"We don't need to interfere in their territory, but if they attack, we will answer them with powerful force. For now, the Dark Elves are not our primary target, but let the Light Elves secure their borders more tightly. Father, we should be more worried about the Frost Giants.

Since the death of Ymir, they have been extremely silent, which isn't in their nature. Why don't we hire angels to get more information about the Giants?"

Sigurd heard the words and was stunned.
