Aurora's pov
Ring! Ring! Wake up lazy Cat!
I groaned as I covered my ears trying to get more sleep but my stupid alarm was hell bent on waking me up. Whose idea was it to even get me an AI alarm? Anita. I feel like killing that my bestie sometimes.
"Gosh can't a girl rest?!" I yelled into my pillow
With no other choice, i sluggishly got up from the bed and turned the alarm off. I checked my phone and saw two missed calls from dad, i wonder why he was calling me. I had checked up on him yesterday before leaving the hospital
"This man wants to keep disturbing me. Hello daddy" i said as I dialled his number and he picked up
"Honey I'm so sorry, hope I didn't wake you up" his voice sounded tired
"It's fine. How are you feeling now?" I asked as I headed towards my closet to get my towel
"I'm okay, I'll be discharged today" he said
"Today? I think you need more bed rest"
"No i can't stay here lazing about. I'm having a press conference later today and I'll also be having a meeting with some of the government officials regarding those purple terrorists"
"Okay but please take it easy on yourself" i pleaded
"No problem"
"Um dad, what about the man that shot you, has he been found?" I bit my lips a little
"We're still looking for him, it's not really easy trying to find someone you don't even have any idea on how they look like" he sighed
"True, but what about blood samples and finger prints? That could help" i suggested
"Baby girl, the Federal ministry of defence tried doing that but..." He paused as he sighed again "these people are just too good, they cleared every track and they never leave any trace behind. It's like trying to catch a pathom"
"This is really strange. So there's no way to catch him?"
"Yes baby..."
"Um sir we need to get going, your car is here" i heard Amir say in the background
"Okay. Um baby I need to go now. Please be careful and also don't go back to the house. I rented an apartment for you at Lekki, it's to keep you safe till all these shenanigan is resolved" dad said
I nodded "um I'm actually at the house now but I'll leave soon. But Where will you be staying?"
"I can't tell you for now but I'll call you soon. Bye dear"
"Bye dad. I love you?" I whispered the last part
"Love you too" he heard me
I ended the call and stared at my reflection on the mirror for a long time. There were bags under my eyes and my face was bruised a little. I looked like someone out of a wednesday Adams movie 🍿
"This has to stop" i sighed "as much as I dislike dad, i don't want to lose him or anyone else to this purple choas. I need to get to the bottom of this. Every problem has a cause and I need to find it"
My phone beeped and a message popped up on the home screen
Doctor Femi: "the patient is waiting for you, he'll be discharged today. Don't forget to come"
"Oh great" i groaned as I remembered my "Responsibility". I'm not having a great today... infact I'm no longer having any good days. Bad things Keep happening and i keep getting into one mess or another. Not only do I have to pick up this "Responsibility" from the hospital, i also have to go the police station to see if they've found David's body and pay a visit to Anna to discuss something with her.
"Today is really hectic. Oh well i better make some coffee and toughen up if I'm going to get through this awful day" i encouraged myself "you can do it"
I quickly dropped my phone on the side table and dashed to the bathroom to have a long hot bath.
