Aurora's Pov
The Nigerian police station was the worst place on earth anyone could be in, not only were the officers corrupt and rude, they also never failed to treat you like trash especially when you come to them with a case. If you had no money and expected them to give you the justice you deserve, then you're just wasting your time. That Logan "Police is my friend" should be changed to "Police na (is) my friend when I get money".
"Bunch of idiots with pot belly, playing costume with toy guns" i cursed and hissed angrily
I've been sitting at the reception hall waiting for an officer to attend to me, but everyone just kept walking past me like i was a phantom. A lady with big yansh (buttocks) and fancy clothing who just arrived few minutes after i came, had already been attended to while i just sat there boiling with anger
"Which kind nonsense be this? (What rubbish is this?)" I hissed again "Anna will be waiting for me by now"
I couldn't keep calm any longer so i stood up and matched towards the DPO's office
"Madam you can't go in there?!" A female officer yelled after me
"Watch me!" I fired back "you people are very stupid!"
"Madam!" She rushed and blocked me angrily
"Get out of my way before I slap you" i yelled
"I be like say you no get respect abi? (You're really disrespectful) You're shouting at an officer of the law" she shouted back
"Officer of the law my feet! You people are very partial and wicked. I've been sitting here for an hour waiting to be attended to, but you can't even do that"
"Madam calm down" a male officer shouted "who are you sef?"
Honestly most times I wish I wasn't hiding my identity, why on earth did I even come to the police station dressed as an ordinary civilian?! I turned towards the male officer and smiled
"Call the DPO for me or get ready to be fired for harassing a famous journalist and daughter to the governor"
The officers paused for a while in shock and stared at each other before bursting out in laughter
"I be like this one don drink kolos oh (this girl is on drugs)" they laughed
I just folded my arms and continued smiling
"You'll soon see"
I brought out my phone and dialed the Commissioner's number "hello sir"
"Hello, Aurora it's been so long. How are you?" The commissioner said
I put the call on speaker and smiled
"I'm not really fine sir, i just lost my boyfriend and I came to the station to see if they've found his body but your men are giving me problems here"
"What?!" He sounded angry
"Oluwa (God), that's the commissioner's voice oh" the female officer said and started shifting from the door
"We don land ourselves in wahala (problem)" they cried
I smiled in triumphant
"Tell those idiots to get ready to be suspended" the commissioner continued
"Ehe? Madam please forgive us. We were just playing with you. You know say nobody well in this our state again so please pardon us" they Knelt down crying
Nonsense
"Sir don't worry, I've already handled them. I just wanted to inform you" i said
"Are you sure?"
"Yes don't worry about them, maybe these bombing incidents is getting to their useless brains" i glared at the officers
"Alright dear. Send my regards to the governor please. And tell him sorry about the incident at the conference"
I wanted to ask him what he meant but I had more pressing needs to attend to so i just nodded and ended the call.
"Madam please forgive me"
I just hissed and looked at the officers' pathetic faces
"Next time, do your jobs very well. Nigerians are suffering because of corrupt officers like you"
"We'll be good officers from now on, we swear on our..."
"I don hear you" i just ignored them and then walked into the DPO's office
The DPO's office was a small room with grey-blue walls and blue carpets. The office looked a little shabby with stacks of papers littered everywhere. The DPO, Mr. Enioluwa was seated while reading a file on his table. He hadn't noticed me when I came in so I sat down and tapped his table.
"Huh?" He looked up and smiled "Miss starry, i wasn't expecting you today"
I just smiled at him, the DPO was a newly transferred officer from Osun, he had tribal marks across his cheeks. His head was bald in the centre and he was dark in complexion. He had a calm face that made people feel comfortable around him despite his muscular physique.
"Sorry I wanted to come yesterday but so many things were happening" i apologized
"No need to apologise, we're all feeling the brunt of the purple Lagoon. My men and I recovered so many dead bodies from the official building that collapsed yesterday, not to mention the amount of officers we lost too...hmmm" he shook his head sadly
"We'll get through this. One Nigeria" i smiled despite the dark clouds hanging over me
"You sound hopeful" he relaxed into his seat and smiled
"I do" i said confidently "the purple Lagoon will go down, mark my words"
He paused for a bit and just stared at me
"Count me in your team miss starry, we'll take them down" he finally said
"Thanks. So about David's body?" I wiggled in my seat feeling hopeful
"Um I'm really sorry miss starry, but we still haven't found his body. It's really strange how every dead body was recovered by the police excluding your boyfriend's" he said
My smile vanished
"But you have to try, i want to see him one last time" i protested
"We're really trying but it's not like a dead body has the ability to run or hide. Sorry to say this but I think there's a possibility that they took his body for some ritual..."
"God forbid!" I shouted
"God forbid indeed but that's the only assumption I have for now"
I just kept quiet, thinking about the horrors they could put his body through. These monsters were really despicable, if I ever catch one of them, I'd make sure to put 109 bullets through his head.
"But we did find something" the DPO said
"Huh?" I looked up
"Give me a sec" he bent down and opened one of his cupboard
I watched as he brought out a diamond encrusted ring
"Was that...?" I paused
"Yeah we found it on the spot he was shot, i think he wanted to give it to you" he said handing me the ring 💍
I gently took the ring and rubbed it softly, a few teardrops escaped my eyes
"David" i whispered
"He must have really loved you" the DPO smiled
"He did" i smiled "thanks for this, um i need to go now"
The DPO nodded "Good luck miss starry, beware of the purple Lagoon" he whispered the last part
I smiled and then walked out of the office carrying the weight of Lagos on my shoulders. This group needs to pay for what they did to me

"Let me help you with that"
I smiled at my "Responsibility" who was now ready to leave the hospital. The injury on his body had healed a little; though he had plasters and bandages all over his body, he could walk just fine.
"Don't worry, i can carry it. They're just few clothes i bought on the way here, they're for you"
"Thanks" he had a deep voice that does something strange to my body everytime he spoke
I just nodded
"C'mon, let's go. The doctor must be waiting by the hall"
"Alright" he smiled
The doctor was waiting at the end of the hall when we walked out of the ward.
"Doc" i waved
"Miss starry" he greeted and came closer to us "are you all set to leave?"
"Yes" We chorused
"Good. Um Aurora remember what I told you, you're all that he has now so please make sure he takes his medication and comes for his weekly checkups, okay?"
"Okay. Don't worry doc, he's in safe hands"
"Alright then, see you when I see ya. Um young man please take care" he patted the stranger's shoulder and then left
"Shall we?" I looked at my "Responsibility"
"Mhmm" he smiled
We both walked out of the hospital and entered my new car that dad just sent me since my old one was wrecked. He sat in the front seat with me even though I wasn't comfortable but I just kept quiet.

The drive to my new lekki apartment was really slow and quiet, the guy didn't even say anything. He just kept looking out of the window while I sneaked quick peeks at him. I couldn't help but study him, first of all, even with the wounds, he was really handsome. Chocolate in complexion, with striking brown golden eyes, pink lips and dreads that was packed now. He had a grey thunder mark across his right eye which I'm guessing must be some kind of birthmark, then my stupid curious eyes landed on his muscular body, i could even see tatoos through the white shirt he was wearing. These guy must have belonged to some gym group or cool guy squad, too bad he lost his memories.
"Omo guy is loaded" i gulped
I was starting to sweat 😅 a little
"Wetin dey worry me sef? (What's wrong with me?) I dey drive, dey look guy's body, i be like i won die (I'm driving and admiring a guy, it's like I want to di)" I scolded myself mentally "his girlfriend is lucky oh" my stupid mind said
"Miss are you okay?"
I almost jumped out of the car at the sound of his voice
"Um um yeah, it's just the hot body...sorry i mean weather" i stammered like an idiot
Oluwa save me
"Okay" he smiled and went back to looking outside the window
"Aurora please stop" i pleaded with myself
I looked at the diamond ring i was wearing and just sighed.
"It's only David, David or no one else" i reminded myself
We finally reached my new apartment and I packed the car. I grabbed the luggage 🧳 we came with and climbed down from the car with my "Responsibility" following me like a lost puppy.
"Let me help you with one of the bags" he stretched his baddaged arm
"No oh, you're just recovering. Don't worry I've got this" i smiled trying to pull the heavy bags
Fart almost came out, these bags were really heavy but I couldn't let him carry it.
"See? I can do this" i faked
"Hmmm" he just stared at me and then shocked me by snatching two heavy bags away from my skinny arms
"Ahhh"
I watched in surprise as he carried them with ease without flinching in pain and started walking towards the front door. Who the hell is this guy?
"Miss, the key?" He turned towards me
I shook my head and regained myself
"Sorry"
I rushed to the door and opened it, we got into the first room which was the living room. Dad really outdid himself, for a place to hide, he sure choose a fancy apartment. The living room was heavily decorated with expensive furnishings. There were two rooms with bathroom and toilet each, a kitchen loaded with food stuffs, a cozy dinning area and an empty storage room.
The guy was just staring at the beautiful living room in awe, I'm guessing he's not used to a rich house. I gently tapped his shoulder and directed him to drop the bags in one of the rooms
"You can choose any room, the stuff in the bags are things I bought for you. Your medications are also in there too" i said
"Um thanks, I'll just take the room close to the storage room" he said
"Kk. Um make yourself feel at home. I'll just get some sleep, i had a hectic day" i said and then walked over to my room
I could feel his eyes all over me, i turned and saw that he was staring at me. I just frowned and continued walking to my room. No time for anybody, i need to get some info on those purple demons
