I'm used to Ming Hua preaching in my ear about "the importance of organizing items systematically and returning them to their proper place immediately after use," but as someone who always acts on whims, I've never really taken it to heart.
Just then, Chow Zi Qian, who I thought had already moved away from my desk, suddenly spoke up: "Wu Yi, I'll stay back after school to help you with your cleaning duty for the classroom. You should go home early and rest."
"Thank you, Vice-Monitor!" I stood up and politely thanked Zi Qian.
"Don't call me Vice-Monitor, just use my name." The typically stern Zi Qian allowed a slight smile to touch his lips. "You don't need to be so formal with me. This isn't like the tone you used with me before."
What did Chow Zi Qian mean by that? Was I very impolite when I spoke to him before?
"Hey, if you don't believe me, ask him. He was the one who represented our class in the game. You should believe him, right?" Chen Ming Hua interrupted, pointing at Zi Qian who stood in front of me. "Vice-Monitor, tell him. Did you see him in Navigating School Life or not?"
"He's lost his memory, why are you pushing him? He'll tell you when he gets his memory back." Then, Zi Qian took a ticket for the Cultural Entertainment Evening out of his pocket and handed it to me, saying calmly, "For you."
I glanced at the ticket, then looked at Zi Qian in front of me, somewhat incredulously. "For me?"
"Yes. And I'll buy you popcorn too. Even though you don't remember, I'll still keep our promise." Seeing the complete confusion on my face, Zi Qian didn't offer any further explanation, simply adding quietly, "You'll understand when you recover your memory," before moving on to collect the smart glasses from other classmates.
"Why did he give me a ticket?" I turned to look at Chen Ming Hua beside me.
"How should I know?" Ming Hua stared at Zi Qian's retreating back with his narrow eyes for a long moment, then speculated, "Could it be because you helped him a lot in Navigating School Life? Or maybe..."
"Wu Yi, someone's here to see you," a male classmate sitting nearest the door called out.
I looked towards the doorway, where a female prefect I didn't recognize was standing. I couldn't help but wonder, "Who's looking for me?"
"Hello, Wu Yi!" The female prefect with a bob haircut and straight bangs waved at me.
I walked towards the door, reading the name on the badge on her uniform. "Hello, Chan Le Ann. What can I do for you?"...
