"Do you remember who I am now?" Le Ann asked excitedly.
Do I know her?
I thought hard for a long time, but still had no impression of her at all.
"I'm sorry, have we met somewhere before?"
"In Navigating School Life!"
Navigating School Life again.
"I was maliciously ambushed by students from another class in the game, and you stepped in and saved me." Le Ann opened a book she was holding called 'Navigating School Life' Beta Version Commemorative Special Edition. After flipping to a page in the middle, she handed me a pen. "Could you give me your autograph?"
I was lost in the information from Le Ann's words, momentarily stunned. I was growing increasingly suspicious about whether my memory was faulty. Could I really have entered Navigating School Life?
Seeing me hesitate to take the pen, Le Ann asked tentatively, "Is it... that you haven't recovered your memory yet? I heard you had an accident and got amnesia. How are you feeling now?"
"I'm physically fine, thank you for your concern." Almost as if guided by an unseen force, I took the pen she offered and signed my name on the open page.
"Thank you! Let me treat you to a meal next time! As a thank you for 'saving my life'." Le Ann thanked me and then left, looking very happy.
I've only been away from school for just over a month, and I've only forgotten the events of April 1st. So why does it feel like so many things happened that I'm unaware of?
Puzzled, I walked back to my seat. Before I could even sit down, Ming hua said loudly, "Now you believe me, right? I told you you played Navigating School Life."
"I really played Navigating School Life?" I stared wide-eyed at Ming hua. "How did you know I played? Who told you? It couldn't have been me, could it?"
"That book you just signed is called 'Navigating School Life' Beta Version Commemorative Special Edition. I saw your photo in that book before. If you didn't participate, how would you be in the book?" Ming hua asked curiously. "Besides, every player who participated in Navigating School Life received a copy of that book. Don't you have one?"
I shook my head.
"You didn't get the book?" Ming hua stood up and pointed at Zi Qian's back. "He has a copy. You can borrow it from him. There are quite a few screenshots of you in the game inside."
I saw that Zi Qian was busy counting the smart glasses he had just collected and thought now wasn't the time to bother him.
"By the way! Aren't you going home right after school today?" I glanced at the clock on the white wall. "If you don't start packing up, you might not make the bus later."
"Ah! You know I'm rushing for the bus, why didn't you remind me earlier?" Ming hua hurriedly stuffed the things on his desk into his backpack, then dashed out of the classroom like the wind. "I'm heading home first, see you tomorrow! Remember to tell me if you remember anything about Navigating School Life!"
"Got it, see you tomorrow."
After saying goodbye to Ming hua, I sat at my desk pondering his words, trying to make sense of the question that had been troubling me since I left the hospital...
