Chapter 13 - Smart glasses (2)

"Little child, you're still here? I thought you had been discharged." The old lady spoke as she placed the items she brought on the bedside table of the next hospital bed.

Before my parents arrived at the hospital, I chatted with the old lady for a while. She was the grandmother of the patient in the next bed. Her grandson had been in a car accident a few weeks ago and was still unconscious.

"Don't even mention it! My dad won't let me be discharged." I patted the pillow forcefully and layed down, saying, "It's so boring in the hospital! I want to go home and play games."

"Your father must be keeping you here because he cares about you. There are no parents in this world who don't love their children." The old lady pulled open the drawer of the bedside cabinet on the left side of her grandson's bed, rummaging through it while muttering to herself, "Where did I put it?"

"Grandma, are you looking for something?" I sat up on the bed. "Do you need me to call a nurse to help you look?"

"I clearly put the sunglasses in the cabinet, how come they're gone?" The old lady walked to the bedside cabinet on the other side of the bed and continued searching.

"Found it!" The old lady walked towards me holding a blue paper bag. "Do kids your age really like wearing sunglasses to play games?"

Wearing sunglasses to play games? What did the old lady mean by that?

I looked inside the paper bag; it contained a white box. Written in the middle of the box were the words: Fantasy Glasses X Series.

So, the "sunglasses" the old lady mentioned were actually smart glasses that could connect to virtual games.

"Fantasy Glasses" is a brand of smart glasses specialized for gaming, launched by Tian Xiang Company. They released this X Series earlier this year. It's said that this series not only features comprehensive improvements in game graphics and sound quality but also adds a new function for automatically adjusting the user's eyesight. This allows users to wear the glasses without needing to manually adjust the image clarity based on their own vision.

"Grandma, are these your smart glasses?" I asked, taking the white glasses case out of the paper bag.

"They belong to my grandson." The old lady shook her head, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes as she looked at the man lying in the hospital bed. "My grandson is amazing; he works at a company that specializes in researching these 'sunglasses' games. Last time his colleague came to visit him and gave this 'sunglasses' to me for safekeeping."

"They said something about a game they researched together soon undergoing a test at their alma mater, and they hope my grandson can wake up quickly."

"Sigh, I don't think he'll wake up that soon... Didn't you say you wanted to play games? Take this and play with it!"

"Really? Grandma, thank you! Can I download games onto it?"

"Of course you can."...
