"Took you long enough, bud. I heard you created quite a big scene for you to be here.
However, I don't care what you did before, but you better not mess up my kitchen!"
A white bearded, middle-aged man spoke, his voice hoarse as he stared deeply at Ragna. He seemed to have lost one of his feet as a prosthetic was in place of one of them.
He looked at Ragna as if checking him out. Based on the report from the disciplinary hall, he was described as very harmful and dangerous.
So, he was quite curious about the kid who had sent the whole disciplinary hall into an uproar; however, the kid looked nothing like the teacher had described. Nevertheless, he had seen enough brats pretending to be good.
However, as long as Ragna didn't mess up his kitchen he didn't care about the cafeteria incident.
Meanwhile, Ragna stared at the bearded middle-aged kid in front of him. He was the head chef in the academy with years of experience, and for calling him a kid?
Of course, to someone like him, who had lived for centuries, he was likely older than the bearded kid ancestors, so he thought it was normal.
As for his punishment, he was assigned to work as an assistant to the head chef in the kitchen.
Ragna stared at the kitchen. Before him was a large room filled with cooking wares of all kinds. On entering, not only was it large, but each and every utensil was neatly arranged and sparkly.
This was his first time entering a kitchen in both lives, so it was a new experience for him, however, what caught his attention the most was the scent of food, the very thing that landed him there.
Ragna gulped down the saliva in his mouth, when he thought about the amount of food he could eat just by working there. He stared at the bearded brat, with intense eyes.
The head chef didn't even notice the look of passion he had in his eyes. To Ragna, the head chef was like a walking lottery ticket, his ticket to getting his stomach filled!
Ragna thought he was definitely going to appeal to the bearded man's feelings to get food from him, and with this, he was going to put up his best attitude.
After settling in, Ragna got to know that the head chef was referred to as Gai. On his first day of punishment, to his surprise, he was only given simple tasks, such as lighting the fire up, heating up a pan, and chopping onions.
Gai looked at Ragna at the corner of his eyes, to his surprise, the kid was doing better than he had expected, albeit they were simple tasks, but he did so swiftly and neatly.
He would have thought he was some chef pretending to be a student if not for the fact that he had gone through his biography beforehand.
Before Ragna came, he had gone through his academic biography since the academy kept most of the students' information, except for some extremely confidential information; anything else was accessible.
Thanks to that, he had been able to understand certain things about him; this was his way of filtering people before they entered his kitchen, as the last thing he wanted was a troublemaker.
At the same time, the disciplinary hall had instructed him to give Ragna heavy tasks as punishment, but Gai wasn't interested in any of that, as a chef, all he wanted was a potential assistant chef in the making.
During his first day as an assistant, Ragna thought it was the easiest thing he had ever done in his life, since he was only given menial chores.
Among them was carrying heavy cooking wares, and running errands, another thing he did was watch Gai stir-frying food mid-air with his psychic ability.
At the same time, Gai's expression went from being slightly impressed by Ragna's skills to being completely overwhelmed; it was like he was watching the birth of a chef.
As days went by Ragna would get a random notification message whenever he did something properly.
[Cursed One has learned how to use a Pan!]
[Cursed One has learned how to add seasoning!]
[Cursed One has learned how to boil eggs!]
[Cursed One has learned basic Cooking skills!]
The first time Ragna got these notifications, he was completely surprised. It was the first time he had acquired a skill without needing to absorb a cursed fragment soul. Even more so was the fact that he knew he hadn't killed anyone yet.
Nevertheless, he soon noticed the more things he learned, the more skills he would acquire, at the same time these skills seemed to help him become even better at the kitchen.
Which increased his impression on Gai, thanks to that Gai thought he had the potential to become a pro chef and began teaching him.
"Fucking lad, you don't turn the damn rice this way, it's that way!"
"What the fuck do you think you're doing? Putting the oil first before the fire? Do you intend on burning my kitchen down?"
"This is why I dislike kids!"
During these days Ragna quickly turned from bud to lad, with Gai now seeing him as an apprentice.
Eventually, five days quickly passed, as this became part of Ragna's daily routine, in the morning, he would be in the kitchen with Gai assisting him.
After school hours he would be the next janitor, cleaning the school. Ragna thought it wasn't much of a problem, since most of the cleaning was done with machines; however, on the third day, the disciplinary hall suddenly told him the machines were faulty, and he needed to do the cleaning manually.
