Chapter 12 - "The Ox-King's Daughter."

-----

Witnessing that earth-shaking scene, Goku stood frozen, mouth hanging open, his whole body trembling. It wasn't fear—far from it. His excitement was overflowing. As a Saiyan who thrived on struggle and challenge, that battle-loving, never-back-down spirit seemed carved right into his soul.

So there's power this overwhelming in the world… Broly didn't even use half—maybe not even a fraction—of his true strength when we fought before. But Goku wasn't discouraged. He clenched his fists, eyes burning with determination. I won't lose. I'll surpass you someday. From that moment, surpassing Broly became a lifelong goal etched into his heart.

Resolute, Goku jogged out into an empty clearing, mimicking Broly's stance. He focused his ki, letting it gather between his hands.

"Kame… hame… ha!" A small but brilliant blue wave blasted forward. Thanks to Broly's guidance and a year of grueling training together, the Goku of this moment was far stronger than he was supposed to be at this point in the original timeline.

Sure, his energy wave was tiny compared to Broly's and worked on entirely different principles, but it was still shockingly powerful. His talent for combat was downright terrifying.

"A—ahhh!" A sharp scream cut through the air. Everyone turned—only to find a little girl struggling in Broly's arms. One of his hands was resting on her barely budding chest, the other supporting her small backside.

Bulma and the others only now realized Broly was holding an adorable little girl the whole time.

With a clang, the girl reflexively hurled the ice axe from her head. Broly casually blocked it with one hand.

Seeing her attack fail, she fired an Emmerilim Beam next. Still no effect. Only then did the little girl understand just how dangerous Broly was. Tearful and helpless, she turned her big, watery eyes toward the Ox-King.

"Chi-Chi?! What are you doing here? Didn't I tell you not to run off on your own?" The Ox-King rushed over, hurriedly pulling his daughter out of Broly's arms. He knew exactly how terrifying Broly was—if Chi-Chi's attacks had made him angry, the consequences were unimaginable.

Once free, Chi-Chi stared up at Broly in silence. Her expression shifted again and again, enough to make Broly's scalp tingle.

Then—out of nowhere—she blurted:

"Um… will you marry me when I grow up?"

"What? Why?!" Even Broly was stunned into silence.

"You—you touched my chest and my butt! Daddy said only husbands and wives can do that! If you touched me and you don't want to marry me, that means you don't want to take responsibility!"Despite her age, Chi-Chi already had a scary level of comprehension. Her big eyes welled up, and then she burst into loud, messy sobs.

"I… I didn't mean to…" Broly almost collapsed under everyone's judgmental stares. I just held her for a second—why does it sound like I committed a crime?! And why does she explain this so fluently?!

"Waaaah! I don't care! You touched me! Now I can't marry anyone else! You HAVE to take responsibility!"

Broly looked helplessly at Bulma. Bulma sighed and nodded—Just agree for now. We'll sort it out later.

"S-sorry, Chi-Chi… Fine. When you grow up, I'll come marry you. Okay?" He gave in for now. Worst case? If she seriously held onto this when she grew up—well… maybe he'd accept it. Perks of reincarnation.

"Really? Really really? You'd better not lie! I'll remember this forever! If you don't come marry me, I'll chase you for life!"Chi-Chi stared at him with huge teary eyes, unbearably cute.

This kid is way too persistent…Well, they'd deal with it when she grew up. He'd have to talk to Bulma eventually. And besides—Android 18 was definitely joining his future harem. No way he was letting that bald little monk Krillin steal such a goddess.

Back to business—looking at the completely destroyed castle, the Ox-King didn't seem bothered. He even admitted he'd done wrong during the Mountain Frypan fires and promised to turn over a new leaf.

In the original story, Master Roshi had blown up the castle too, claiming he "lost control." Yeah, right. That geezer had insane ki control—he clearly did it on purpose after seeing the Ox-King fall into greed, hoping to break his attachment to wealth.

So Broly followed suit and destroyed everything… except the Dragon Ball.

After finding the fifth Dragon Ball, they bid farewell to the Ox-King and left Mount Frypan together.

Later, with his head resting on Bulma's lap, Broly counted their current Dragon Balls—six in total. Two from Bulma, one from Goku, one from Master Roshi, one from the Ox-King, and one from that old lady earlier.

The last Dragon Ball should still be in the hands of the eternally unlucky Pilaf Trio—three nobodies who had dedicated their lives to collecting the Dragon Balls and wishing to rule the world.

Thinking about that unlucky trio made Broly's eyelid twitch. For some reason, they reminded him of another anime's "unbeatable trio"—same setup: one guy, one girl, one random animal sidekick. Same unkillable determination. Same cockroach-like tenacity.

Honestly, Broly had a bad feeling that if he wasn't careful, he might actually trip over their schemes. If things played out just like the original and they wasted the wish on something stupid, he'd lose his mind.

With a plan forming, he turned to Bulma.

"Bulma, give me the bag with the Dragon Balls."

She didn't know why but handed it over obediently.

Broly picked out the Four-Star Ball and stored it in his system space before handing the bag back. Just in case something unexpected happened. Even if Pilaf managed to snatch the other six, it wouldn't matter—they'd still be missing one.

Once all seven were gathered, Broly planned to get far away fast, wait for the wish to be made, and deal with everything afterward.

Heading toward the last Dragon Ball, the group crossed a desert when a squid-shaped robot suddenly burst out of the sand and fired a cannon shot straight at their vehicle.

"Goku! Move!" Broly scooped Bulma into his arms and shot into the air.

Boom! Their vehicle exploded. The robot rummaged through the wreckage, found the Dragon Ball bag, and flew away without checking.

Broly didn't stop it.He already knew who sent it—our favorite trio of walking disasters.

With the Four-Star Ball safe in his system space, he didn't care if they grabbed the other five. All he needed to do was follow them—and the Dragon Radar would lead him straight to the final ball.
