Chapter 13 - "Summoning Shenron, Instant Transmission."

"What do we do, what do we do? Broly, the Dragon Balls were stolen! How are you not even a little worried? Don't you want to make a wish to Shenron?" Bulma was so anxious she was practically bouncing in place. Seeing Broly's calm, almost bored expression only made her more upset.

"It's fine. Look what I've got here."Broly reached into his system space and pulled out the Four-Star Ball, holding it up in front of her.

"Huh? How is that possible? I saw them take the Dragon Balls… wait, does that mean back then you already…?" Bulma stared at the Four-Star Ball in confusion, then suddenly remembered how Broly had randomly asked for the bag holding the Dragon Balls days earlier. She hadn't understood why he suddenly wanted to look at them—turns out he had already predicted someone would try to steal them.

Seeing the dawning realization and admiration on Bulma's face made Broly feel pretty guilty. She clearly thought he'd planned everything out. If only she knew—Broly was an outsider from another world, and he already knew this was going to happen.

"I'm going to tail that guy and see where he delivers the Dragon Balls. Then we'll grab the rest in one go. Using the radar could take days. Do you two want to wait here, or come with me?"

"Wherever you go, I'm going! Don't even think about leaving me behind!"

"We're going with you, of course! "Bulma and Goku answered at the same time.

...

When they reached the castle where the Pilaf trio were hiding, Broly didn't bother holding back this time. With battle power high enough to steamroll the entire planet, he blasted forward at terrifying speed and appeared right in front of Pilaf and his two henchmen.

Pilaf watched helplessly as every trick he'd prepared proved completely useless in front of Broly's overwhelming 436 battle power. He surrendered instantly. Without hesitation, he pulled out the Dragon Balls he had set aside and offered them with both hands, head bowed.

Seeing how quick Pilaf was to give in, Broly actually felt a little embarrassed hitting him. His original plan had been to just kill these three troublemakers so they wouldn't ruin anything later. But when he saw Mai, he hesitated.

After thinking it over, Broly decided to let these "auspicious trio" live. Without them, the Dragon Ball world would lose a lot of fun. Besides, whether in the original story or now, they weren't actually bad people. Consider it giving future Trunks some face. With their pathetic battle power, they posed no threat anyway.

"Fine. Since you're being smart about it, I'll let you live. Do more good in the future. Don't waste your time dreaming about ruling the world. Living free and comfortable is better, isn't it?"

With that, Broly gathered the Dragon Balls, and the three of them got back in the car and headed toward Master Roshi's island. None of them realized that sparing Pilaf on a whim would end up helping them greatly in the future.

When they reached the beach where they'd first met Master Roshi, Broly placed all seven Dragon Balls together. They began shining brightly, resonating with one another.

"Come on out, Shenron!" Broly shouted, following the way the dragon was summoned in the original story.

Instantly, the sky darkened. Thick clouds rolled in. Each Dragon Ball shot a beam of brilliant light upward, converging in the sky and forming the shape of a dragon.

Moments later, a huge green dragon with glowing red eyes burst out of the light. Its appearance wasn't too different from the dragons in Chinese mythology—except for the color.

"State your wish, summoner. No matter what it is, I can grant one and only one wish," Shenron said in a deep, magnetic voice that somehow sounded like he was on the verge of collapsing.

Broly opened his system shop and checked the most expensive skills. The only things he actually needed right now were Instant Transmission and Time Stop.

After thinking it over, Broly chose Instant Transmission. It wasn't as limited in distance as Time Stop; the stronger he became, the farther he could teleport.

In late Dragon Ball Z, Goku could teleport straight to the Sacred World of the Kai—normally a place only Supreme Kais could enter. Even the Grand Kai couldn't get in. And Instant Transmission was vital for saving people or dodging deadly attacks.

Most importantly, Kibito's teleportation was far more advanced than Goku's. Goku always needed to lock onto someone's ki at the destination, so he couldn't teleport somewhere completely empty. Kibito, however, could teleport anywhere in the lower realms, ki or no ki. While his technique couldn't precisely locate an individual by itself, someone like Broly—who could already sense every living being on the planet—could easily work around that. So learning it would actually give him an advantage over Goku.

So Broly tried to game the rules a bit:" Shenron, I want the two unique abilities mastered by Kibito Kai from the Sacred World of the Kais. Can you grant me that?"

If it worked, great—those two abilities cost a combined 180,000 points in the system shop. Instant Transmission alone cost 100,000, and the healing ability another 80,000.

Shenron immediately began sweating. "I am sorry. Kibito Kai's Instant Transmission is a species-specific ability. I cannot grant that wish. The other ability, however, I can bestow upon you."

Broly's heart sank. "Didn't you say you could grant any wish? Why can't you even give me a simple Instant Transmission?"

Shenron grew nervous. If a summoner asked for something reasonable and he couldn't fulfill it, he technically wasn't allowed to leave unless they agreed to negotiate and accept an alternative.

"How about this," Shenron offered. "I cannot give you Kibito Kai's teleportation, but I can grant you another form of Instant Transmission—the one that requires sensing ki. It cannot take you somewhere empty. But as compensation, I will strengthen Kibito Kai's healing ability and give it to you. With it, you can heal others and yourself. Even if you lose consciousness, your body will slowly recover on its own. What do you think?"

That was basically Goku's Instant Transmission… but fine. Broly hadn't seriously expected Shenron to hand over Kibito Kai's ability anyway. And the bonus skill? That was a jackpot. A healing ability that worked both actively and passively? Unless he got instantly killed, he'd be impossible to finish off. Combined with his Legendary Super Saiyan physiology—where his power rose endlessly through battle—Broly couldn't help getting excited. What a broken combo.
